I have the same canoe but in blue . been using for two years and no problems . I also have the same little imperfections on the hull and again no problems. great fishing canoe and I like it as its stable enough to cast while fishing standing up

Bass Master Scott I returned this one and got an old town 154ss rouge river. The old town had much less quality issues and a aluminium rod in keel the entire length of it. 2x the cost so not very cheap.

@@ryanjames1975 I sold all my LL Bean and Old Town kayaks years ago. They were nice but heavy as heck. Replaced them with the cheap little Pelican kayaks that weigh 36 lbs. So much better for an old guy like me to manage. Just bought a Sun Dolphin canoe. Super light. I had a choice to buy all kinds of heavy canoes but if I'm going to have to wrestle with it to get it in and out of the water it takes all the fun out of it. Different strokes for different folks makes the world go round.

I have the exact same canoe and love it. It's solid as it can be and great for the price imo. I have several videos running this boat on the Ohio River catfishing on my channel.

I have it too in the burnt sienna color... zero complaints and it cleans up nicely with multi-purpose spray cleaner.

I've seen this with kayaks as well. We were fortunate to be able to pick one of these up right off the showroom. Not sure I'd ever order one and have it shipped :X

Actually using the canoe, for what it is intended, will put a lot more "imperfections" in the hull! How's it holding up?

FourDollaRacing I returned it to home Depot. I ended up paying for a old town 154ss and am very happy with if.

Good choice. I just bought one of those 2 weeks ago. Much better quality!

Returned it , bought a 154ss old town and just was a bit better looking. It was the floor model with a scratch that was trying to peel the front left sticker off. Just a touch of irony but talked them down $200

I have a sun dolphine elite scout ss, bought it years ago and it's the best canoe I've had.

I have it too, in the red terracota color. This scout has seen good catfish flapping around.

How much wait can the canoes hold and do you think it would hold up to the Columbia River

Allan Reager maybe. I would stick to an electric trolling and almost any size will work to propel this 3-5 mph

I bought this Canoe from a farm supply store for $300 on sale (had been sitting out there for months, if not longer). VERY happy with it for that price. I'm planning to make a few adjustments. Even as a tall person with long arms, a trolling motor handle extended all the way out is uncomfortable to reach. Going to put a rotating seat in the back.
Regardless, for the price I paid, I can't complain. Have taken it out on my small pond a few times, and to the lake just for a few casts and found it to fit that purpose really well.

I Win yes I returned this canoe and ordered a old town rouge river 154ss and am very happy with it. Much less quality issues and can actually hold a 5hp gas motor safely. Thank you

To things wrong with this guys review. If you listen carefully at the start he actually "knows : where the imperfections are before he shows them. That tells me he either ordered the boat knowing the imperfections. The second thing is I suspect this guy is an overpaid under worked union worker. You paid 299.00 for a canoe. The material alone cost over 100.00 SHUT UO

I paddle Old Towns and Nova Craft. 1985 or so I bought an Old Town Discovery 169 for $1200.00 Canadian.
      I still use it.
We had that and 7 others out on a course last weekend and we will have them on another course this weekend.
      Your assessment is painfully accurate.
It's likely a fine thing for bashing around a pond.

Huh, overpaid under worked union worker? Where did that come from? If you knew anything about editing as you think you know about union workers you would know that most editors of videos have a general idea about what their gonna review before they start the filming. He probably opened the box, saw what was there and then decide to do a video review of the product.

  • @Alexmcgruer3
    @Alexmcgruer3 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Yep , the quality is not there:
For all that the price is slightly less than half of what I would expect to pay for a boat from Novacraft or Old Town.
I have an Old Town Disco 169 that is almost 30 years old, I was also paddling Old Towns and a Grumman that are the same vintage this past weekend.
Canadian Tire, Walmart, and Costco may not be the best place to buy quality boutique gear like that.
I would send it back, but only if I expected to dig in and pay for the quality I demand on this stuff.
That boat looks like what Coleman produces. I don't like them but I am a purist when it comes to canoes.

Don’t take it out on the water. Keep in the plastic and make more useless videos about petty shipping complaints. You made the mistake of getting a basic canoe from that big box home improvement store at that location. Home improvement? 🤔

Your's looks like a creampuff compared to mine from Home Depot, it arrived covered in grease and damaged in several places, the driver admitted they dropped it while loading and it ended up laying on the fifth wheel where it got covered in grease. The rubrail was messed up and it was twisted like a pasta noodle. I called home depot and then sent them pictures of it and was about to refuse delivery when they told me to keep it and they refunded my $599 within a couple hours. I spent a couple hours and about 20$ in new stainless fasteners fixing it best I could and have used it now for almost ten years without any issues. Cheers!🙂heres mine now with lots of upgrades still goi g strong! th-cam.com/video/JS455tdTrPQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W39-CKXNl6-OcDJO
