I loved this video seeing what mistakes I prevented when I went to Singapore. Luckily we followed everything smoothly except never taking the MRT and suffering as we walked through the city in the humidity and rain in November. Brought back memories with this footage, especially when my sunglasses instantly fogged up walking out of the hotel!!
Beyond anything, I'm so amazed at how much content you were able to create in your 5 days in Singapore!!! Currently binge-watching your videos before our upcoming trippp
Very informative tips and straight to the point! Good reminder on the clothing that might not be appropriate if one intends to visit the temples, usually people forget about that.
Made me remeber my vacation in Singapore, such an amazing destination truely. Everything just works, lets you just enjoy and relax. Not much cities where you get that tbh (on vacation, living there is a whole other beast)
There are quite a lot of shopping malls with air-conditioning almost everywhere. Frankly, if just like to shop, I suggest take the MRT and alight at major shopping area like Orchard, Bugis, MBS and etc. All these have underground connect to the shopping centres. But carrying a small napkin is definitely advisable.
For point number 6, not all 4 stars hotels are ultra pricy. There's the Furama City Center hotel on Eu Tong St, which has basic chambers (300 sq ft) for like SGD110 per night, compared to the usual SGD180/night in other 4-star establishments.
Another great video. Most of us want to do what's right when we travel, but how can you when you don't know the rules? Thanks for the heads up, buddy. (Two more rules: don't bring illegal drugs into the country because you will likely be executed, and don't toss chewing gum on the ground. I don't know if they will execute you for that, but you might get caned, and you don't want that.)
I call Singapore the 90/90 country. 90° + 90% humidity! Umbrella! You dry pretty fast, get wet and walk into A/C. COOL!🥶 My wife won't eat at hawker centres, not because it's street food, but because hawkers have no A/C.🥵 Singapore punishes small crimes to prevent large ones. The US rewards small crimes so criminals move up to larger ones.😂 Newton used to be good 20 yrs ago. Now it's all spruced up and a tourist destination.
Singapore, and most of Asia, has levels of social trust, public order, and safety completely foreign to Muricans. I fnd it interesting that other than Murica, where you're sorta stuck, the only place you travel to is Asia. Go ahead, do what you want to do and take the plunge; I did over twenty years ago and never looked back!
Personally I don't really like using tissue packets to reserve the table or we call it 'choke' a table. Anyway, usually anyone should be able to purchase tissue from those stores that sell can drinks or the drink stall at coffeeshop or food court. Typically highend restaurant and fast food chains have tissue if you request for them. By the way, tax is 8% now and will be 9% start of next year. And the ++ meant GST (the tax) and service tax and don't add them together to calculate. Usually you will be charge the GST first then add in the service tax after that. Avoid pack hours like between 7 to 9am and 6 to 7pm as it can get pretty crowded on trains.
Basically I lost the following in Singapore 1) Old Sri Lankan passport issued by Sri Lankan embassy UK with expired UK visa 2) two copies of ILR letters issued by home office UK 3) NIBM followed course letter Taken by the anti-terror police no-doubt and I could not list UK in my Canada immigration application.
That’s big misinfo lol but I don’t blame u cuz it’s a common misconception. Ur allowed to chew gum as long as u dispose of it properly. U just can’t sell it. Students who go travelling love to buy gum and because it’s so hard to get we like trying to buy or ask for some gum from those students lol
Basically, selling those are illegal but if caught during custom checks, they usually will ask to just dispose of it immediately. Well when the law was introduced back years ago, the checks was tight but it's pretty relax over year. Just don't bring too much and too obvious.
STOP SPREADING YOUR RULES ON ESCALATOR!!!! THERE IS NO SUCH RULES WHICH SIDES TO STAND!!!! ESCALATOR IS DESIGNED TO STAND NOT WALK NOR RUN!!! IF YOUR IN A RUSH THERE A STAIRS!!!!
Don't reserve a table by putting things on it. It's not just rude but it's common sense that your things might be missing. However, if you like to "reserve" your table or seats just get someone to stay there. And what you do is you POLITELY tell anyone who wants that seat that your friends are sitting there. It's not just social etiquette but a polite human interaction is better.
Yes Napkins are free in the USA. You'd never pay for them anywhere.... I don't have an issue with the Hawker centres.. but like at the Zoo I paid over $20 SGD -- I think I could get 1 napkin with that 😀
The only hawker centre I as a local , won't eat in, is the one at people's park food centre why? China eateries have invaded the once local hawker centre. It is sooo dirty with china visitors who spit and throw bones on the floor there!!! The poor cleaners simply cannot keep up with these unruly customers! *True observations throughout the year*

Right on! Yeah. I had the camera running alot!
Wow! Fascinating video! I had no idea about the HEAT, humidity, beauty, high incomes, great subway, etc, in Singapore. Thanks, Chris!
Hi Chris. Great list Chris. The last mistake is the most important one that you should not do. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Thanks James! 😀

Awesome Carolyn!
Awesome Carolyn!
That's great to know about the humidity there! I will for sure keep a small towel with me when I decide to head over there someday.
Towel for life! 😀

Come on December and January, it's a lot cooler at around 26deg

@@YellowProductions You are welcome.
Choke? Typo😅
@@pringlessourcream9527 Yeah auto correct. It's chope.
choping is a godsend for those eating alone

Not cleaning up after you eat in hawker stations can result in fines of you get caught.
I never knew what a durian was before I visited Singapore.
its called 'choping' part of the singaporian life
You also can't chew gum in Singapore. The U.S.A. can learn alot from that place!

Don't make this mistake, not realizing Hor Fun is a delicious Chinese food offering.
It's been increased to 8%. 9% next year

Singapore is a boring country. To many buildings. Nothing to enjoy. Only nice. food.
Women have to wear head scarves in some nice restaurants?
In temples yes... restaurants no
Ahhh!!! Thank you for that clarification! I appreciate it and YOU, Chris! 🙂@@YellowProductions

nope, choping is SG culture!
unless you live in Singapore, don't lecture us on our local culture. We know it is unique to us and we don't bring it overseas
3:50 "free"? And how much did you pay for your meal in US as compared to the hawker centre in Singapore? 😂
Yes Napkins are free in the USA. You'd never pay for them anywhere.... I don't have an issue with the Hawker centres.. but like at the Zoo I paid over $20 SGD -- I think I could get 1 napkin with that 😀
Lol I saw you
Me I don’t eat street foods. Singapore not that hygiene. They uses toilet paper as tissues paper just like China.
Singapore has one of the strictest food hygiene standards. We know what's in our food unlike china
