"Heavy is the crown" as a title is so good, mirroring faker and emily's situations, faker having to deal with the pressure of being the all time greatest and emily having to fill the humongous gap chester's passing left, the mirroing even in the lyrics, what a song !

When I first heard the song I thought just about faker, him dealing with the title of being the best and dealing with everyone's presume to never fail (in fact, if you didn't know, not to long ago he had a mental breakdown after losing a tournament, but a serious one, he started banging a wall with his head during an interview)

I've played in multiple death metal bands throughout my career. Currently I am a session guitarist with some of the best metal musicians on earth.
I have never heard someone hold a scream so cleanly for so long. And this isn't even studio trickery, she does this live. Dude, she's the business.

Her Scream was probably intentionally as long as Chesters in Given up so that people see she can do the same
and respectfully she didn't do it while performing Given Up, but rather in her own song 👏

I saw in a comment saying that Chester’s scream in Given Up was more emotion while Emily’s was more rage and I think that’s actually a really cool way of thinking it
Honestly have no idea what this means.
Rage is an emotion. An emotion is rage.
The only thing I can think what this commenter meant was that “Given Up” was sung more from the “heart” (which is honestly depressing af with how his life ultimately ended) and this song is just screaming to scream.
It’s a good argument, tbh, however if you’re that cynical about how produced LP is now, and not “emotional”, well there’s nothing she can do to show the “emotion”.
No one knows how they wrote these songs, who wrote final lyrics and tone and how they felt when performing them in studio.
I can totally see Emily being super “emotional” when recording this song. Kinda fits with the theme they’ve been showing us with their first single now this.

Yup. This track was probably even recorded before The Emptiness Machine. Definitely waaaaaaaaay before anyone publicly knew who the new LP vocalist was going to be.
I was kinda the opposite. Emptiness Machine kinda felt worrisome that Linkin Park wasn't back (to me, just my feelings) but this song smashed away those worries for me entirely. We're so fuckin back.
And that's awesome seriously! If people weren't feeling the last song but this one instead then they're doing an amazing job at appealing to their fan base.

Yeah I can see that. This song definitely felt more like classic Linkin Park (Mike rapping again really helped with that) whereas The Emptiness Machine could’ve fit on a more recent album.

I can't believe we finally have the old LP back. This album feels like a proper sequel to Meteora.
It’s funny as to me this isn’t the old Linkin Park but rather Linkin Park 2.0, Chester will always be one of the greatest singers of all time and the greatest singer of the 21st century and what’s great is Emily’s voice is similar in some ways but also very distinctively different. She’s not a replacement for Chester but close enough to honour the incredible job he did. I do agree though the bands feel as a whole is a lot more back to Nu Metal in terms of their roots rather than their album Heavy which was essentially a pop album. An exciting future from a killer band

The sonmg is not only about the "league crown being heavy" but the crown that she has to play live. The chester crown. It's heavy, even more heavy than any esports team. The song is about showing the past too. That scream feels like "YEAH THIS FCKING CROWN IS HEAVY BUT I WONNT FAIL YOU". I like this song because from a LP fan and a league player it fills me with emotions
That is literally the first thing i thought of when i heard the title & listened to it for the first time, anyone, no matter who it was, was gonna have a massive hole to step into & there was always going to be pressure.

Hey there, I feel like i can write a book on this subject. Everyone knows Chester wasn't human.. He was just different... He helped Linkin park become who they are today. I feel like the world stopped the day we lost him back in 2017. Emily isn't Chester, she doesnt want to be him. Of the course the internet is never happy anyways... so matter how well she does, people find things they do not like, which is fine! Everyone can have an opinion and choose not to listen to it.. But to us fans that are choosing to stick with them, just because its Linkin park, and its a band I have followed since Chester was in Grey Daze, I think Emily is doing great, she is gonna prove everyone wrong as she goes!

When you said ‘gateway band”, that is so accurate for me. Growing up, everyone in my family listened to nothing but hardcore rap and I never was feeling that music all the way. But when I discovered linkin park back in the day, it got me to get out of the same genre of music I was use to hearing. And after listening to them and loving their sound, I then discovered other bands like system of the down, distorted, Korn, and everything else. Linkin park got me to listen to other music in the world and I thank them for that. I was considered the black sheep of the family being Puerto Rican and black and listening to rock and metal and everything else. I didn’t care because I loved their sounds and it shaped me into the person I am today.
I find it really cringe how people are hating on emily for literally anything, first of all regarding scientology, she literally was born into it, plus people love top gun but somehow tom cruise willingly getting into it is not a problem, yet she is.
And about the trial, she initially supported her friend then backed off and apologized when stuff came out, I feel like people are just looking for literally any reason to hate.
Remember when Chester was losing his voice, had to swap genres to more popish music because his throat wasn't as good, and people hated him so much they caused him to you know... really disgusting behavior from supposed "fans".
People wish mike and the crew would just sit there in despair for the rest of their lives, they found a great vocalist who can keep the band alive and they enjoy making music, what's better than that.
Let's be honest, League was secondary in this, title and theme fit her new debut perfectly.

The people who are hating on the new stuff have openly hated everything LP has done since minutes to midnight. As soon as Chester passed they all of a sudden acted like they’ve always supported the band when that’s a lie. Real ones have always appreciated what the band has done and dig the new singles.
I like the song quite a bit but I think there is a missed opportunity with the soft pre-chorus/bridge (before the scream). In my head, I was hearing "Today’s gonna be the day you notice, Cause I’m tired of explaining what the joke is" play 3 times. The first time as they have it now, with no instrumentation beyond the soft chords. The second time layering in some percussion and synth to join the vocals and soft chords. The third time layering in some guitars and bass, grittier vocals, heavier percussion, leading into Emily's "THIS IS WHAT YOU ASKED FOR" scream. It just feels like that bridge rushed to the scream, it could have been a really cool build-up into it.
Great song though and likely will be a solid hit.
Can we also talk about Mike's rapping here? He's gotten even better after his solo stuff!

I am Korean. And I have been a fan of T1 and Faker for a long time. First of all, I was happy to hear Linkin Park's 'Heavy Is the Crown' as the theme song for the 2024 League of Legends Worlds. It is clear that LP's new song has captured the hearts of LP fans who have been waiting for it for a long time. However, I think that the story and narrative of T1 and Faker's 2023 Worlds were not fully reflected, and all the Asian faces in the movie were expressed so similarly that even I, a Korean, could not easily tell them apart. Lastly, I think that it is not shown at all that it has been 10 years since the first championship and 7 years since the last championship, and that all four LPL teams have won and finally won the Worlds trophy.

i would love it so much if they keep going in this musical direction. Emily doing hard rock/metal stuff with screams and all that shit and mike being one of the dopest rappers on earth spitting bars like crazy. Pairing these too styles is what could LP go insane the next years. Ofc we all love the deep and emotional Linkin Park songs but isnt this song what we all ask for.
