I agree with you, Emily is a great fit for the band vocally. That scream was awesome. The video is also really visually interesting and just cool overall. As for the song as a whole, it's got that classic Linkin Park sound/feel and is just a banger. I love the not so subtle meaning behind the lyrics and the fact that Emily gets to scream "This is what you asked for!". After hearing two new songs off the new album, all I can say is that Linkin Park is back!!!

@@py16667 I agree that calling these songs top ten tracks is a bit excessive, but they definitely fit in with the rest of the discography imo. The quality we've come to expect is still there.
@py16667 Hating won't bring chester back. Let people enjoy things. It could very well be someone's top 10 especially if they didn't grow up with LP like we did. She is a good edition. Time continues to move as well as the world. We all absolutely miss chester but some of you so called original fans piss me off.

Love your reaction! This band seriously drives the world crazy. I’ve been following them since their album release 'Living Things.' Since then, I’ve noticed that every album has its own unique sound. The most experimental one, in my opinion, was 'A Thousand Suns.' I can’t wait for their new album dropping in November. I feel like the new album will be a great follow-up to Linkin Park's legacy from their last two albums (?) not sure, but I’ve got a feeling it’ll be similar to 'Living Things' and 'The Hunting Party.' Exciting stuff!
Heavy certainly is the crown. Both for League and LP. Yes, the King is dead and we miss him. But goddamn long live the Queen!

this song is confirmed that it's gonna be in the arcane soundtrack too!! but yeah, the song here is for the lol "world cup" that it's hosted every year. the people in the video are league players with weapons from the game and it tells the story of the best league player in the world, faker. i loved this song sm it sounds old school LP and also smt completly new. loved the reaction!! i hope i gave some context but yeah we can wait to hear it on arcane too ❤

Yes, i've also think the chorus is a message to Chester Bennington's fans who criticized him and the band for making the One More Light album too 'pop'. This was one of the reasons that contributed to Chester's passing. Of course, I could be wrong. But the song feels as heavy as Linkin Park's earlier work.
I love that she can do the screams, but I think personally I prefer her softer, clean vocals even more. Her vocals on the ballads she's done during the tour -- Lost and My December -- are hauntingly beautiful! I do hope there's at least one ballad on each album going forward, to showcase that.

OML backlash more than likely had nothing to do with it, the band had gotten plenty of backlash in the past, & he had more than enough real reasons to be struggling like he was most of his life as many bad things happened to him that were actually significant & traumatic & they piled up at the end of his life

About the song, yeah, it's amazing - and there is even more depth for people that know a bit of the league competitive scene; like the players being represented on the animation with the weapons of the champions they play, and even the fact that "heavy is the crown", as shown on the video, speaks about Faker, BLG trying to take this spot and imo it gives a nod of understanding to the "breakdown" Faker had some months ago, like, it's not easy to be on the top spot and stay there. The scene on the end is also about the regions converging to the world championship.
I am Korean. And I have been a fan of T1 and Faker for a long time. First of all, I was happy to hear Linkin Park's 'Heavy Is the Crown' as the theme song for the 2024 League of Legends Worlds. It is clear that LP's new song has captured the hearts of LP fans who have been waiting for it for a long time. However, I think that the story and narrative of T1 and Faker's 2023 Worlds were not fully reflected, and all the Asian faces in the movie were expressed so similarly that even I, a Korean, could not easily tell them apart. Lastly, I think that it is not shown at all that it has been 10 years since the first championship and 7 years since the last championship, and that all four LPL teams have won and finally won the Worlds trophy.
you're the most normal Korean reaction to this that is not toxic and with fair criticism and i agree with you it's a missed opportunity and we never got a Faker Azir fight but yeah i like the song and some of you likes to trash so much it's not that deep to get that mad that some deranged fans is wishing death on Linkin Park
Yeah, they really should have done 2 videos - one video solely focused on the Worlds narrative to introduce the anthem and another one that integrates the band with the combat stuff as the "music video" for the band.
@Hesed_min Thank you for being polite unlike the other fans of LOLs who are basically trashing Linkin Park , forgetting that this is a collab between Riot Games and LP and the video would have been made after taking inputs from both sides .
But yes your concerns are valid and I agree with you that they could have done better than this . And animation could have been better so that we can identify the difference between different players . Perhaps they should make another video with more focus on the game characters or the players . But I think the song fits the occasion because the crown is indeed heavy for both Faker and Emily and hence this song was a perfect choice for the championship in my opinion. But yes the video could have been better . I just hope LOLs fans don't trash LP as if they have done something wrong and this should be seen as a great step from Riot games because now more people would get to know about LOLs championship and I am sure there would be increase in the fan base for both LP and LOLs and we would see many more people watching the championship this year.

The song is great in every way, the layout, Mike's raps, the screams, the catchiness, all of that, but the one thing I don't like as much is that the lyrics don't touch deeply like their other songs, the lyrics are...more generic and less relatable than their other stuff, it's just saying holding a crown bleeding saying "this is what YOU asked for", which I get the message, but it all ties up fine because this is a song for a game, it's basically LOL featuring Linkin Park, so it's different from what they typically go for but it's still powerful in all the other ways that matter, so I definitely dig it for what it is.
You can bet that the lyrics in some of the other songs of the album will be deeper and more poetic, like we’ve seen in the Emptiness Machine. This appears more shallow, but it fits LOL. And even with more basic lyrics, “Heavy is the crown” also applies to Emily, having to pick up the mantle of Chester. And boy does she deliver. She wears the crown alright.
Was really confused why it looked like Arcane for a moment until I remembered this is for the League of Legends tournament and Arcane is from that game.

I like Linkin Park's song. However, even considering that it's not a Faker tribute, Linkin Park appears as an important character in the song that is made in the game called Roll. I know they're great and great. But this should have been a video symbolizing last year's role game. But the video producers don't seem to have understood this. And since this video was posted, it has become a source of conflict between the West, who likes Linkin Park, and Asians, who think that the tradition and value of the game have disappeared. Let me ask you. Would you like the movie for Linkin Park to have a singer who you don't know, but others are legendary, singing and dancing? I hope you understand that this is what Faker lovers feel. Linkin Park is not at fault. It's a problem for a game company that has existed as a legend in Roll for 10 years and has devoted a lot of money to it, but does not respect it.

I like the song but the korean community is not vibing with this mv bc its showing to much of linkin park and not enough of faker. Unlike 2023 the song and animation was deft's struggles and path to winning worlds in 2023. So bc of that they expected more from riot for the goat of the sport faker.
