Your brother is right. Messi had Xavi, Iniesta & Busquets around him. When Xavi and Iniesta left Barca, Barca started declining, and it continued to decline until Messi left in August, 2021 to PSG. Now at PSG, Messi Doesn't look like the Messi we all knew. And with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Di Maria all at PSG, Messi looks like the 3rd best Player at PSG.

maybe you have to try once the basic skills of football by yourself ( passing , shooting , dribbling , receiving the air balls and pass with control …. etc. ) to truly understand how hard and the true quality of the players that you react to

He's the only player in history to win the man of the match award in a champions league final, a euros final and a world cup final. He's also the only player to ever score in all three, so he was super-clutch despite not being a goalscorer, just like Sergio Ramos

It was a trio Xavi Iniesta and busquets, arguably the best midfield trio of all time, they played Together in de Spanish National team and also in Barcelona and they won literally everything in football. All 3 had different roles. Busquets was cdm so he was the one that would break the pressure and connect the defense to the midfield Xavi was a cm he would controlled the pace of the game, he was the one to decide when to attac and when to slow down and then you had Iniesta who creates the space for his teammates to be free to get the ball, he was more of a playmaker and the cherry on top was messi and that’s why that team is the greatest team of all time

People talk about Iniesta, Xavi, Messi, Dani Alves so much but they always forget my favorite... the absolutely BRILLIANT and CLUTCH David Villa... when Villa Maravilla was playing for Barca they played their absolute best football because Villa was a lethal striker that was also an excellent passer and could play on the wing too and was a stone cold killer on the biggest stage... oh, and was the more proficient player at using both feet in all of Barca by far... Villa is the most underrated player, maybe even ever (although in my book the most underrated are Henry and Totti just cause they were too good but got underrated for playing for their teams and not selling out for bigger clubs)... Villa was such a crucial part of Barca's tiki taka brilliance when he was there and he was the guy you could bet all your money he would score in the biggest games when everyone else would freeze...

Saying no would be outlandish xavi is known for his passes so is kroos but kroos in Real Madrid has a pass rate higher then 94% I think in all his years , iniesta is known for his World Cup goal and out of his other 2 midfielders being the most well rounded (pass, dribble , scoring) all thought to win his World Cup he had a god squad while modric took his squad really far with a c tier team not to mention will be remembered for that world cup’s legendary performance also where’s iniestas ballon dor? Yeah thought so and cdm is a defensive midfielder which casemiro is just clearly more solid then busquets in fact busquets is just over rated I would argue that the barca trio would be better then the Madrid trio if they had a better cdm on there team

The thing with that Barça is that they were a natural evolution of Johan Cruyff's total football. Meaning the position in the pitch were just nominal but during the match players would roam almost freely on the pitch to pressure and get control of the ball as soon as possible. So in short, Iniesta and Xavi were the central midfielders but they would play all over the pitch, moving were they were needed at the moment.
All the team moved the same way so they were covering each other spaces at all times.

Xavi and Iniesta are so elegant they used to control the middle like no one else. They play the simple.football. hardest thing to do in the sport.

Andreas Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez were central midfielders, they had a defensive midfielder behind them - his name is Sergio Busquets, one of the best defensive midfielders ever (he still plays for Barcelona right now, also captain of the spanish national team. Iniesta and Xavi did not really have to tackle that often, because they usually had the ball like 75% of the game, and if someone got past them, then there was still sergio busquets, carlos puyol and gerard pique (all world cup winners, european champions and multiple champions leagues)

This video don’t even show his passing like that. The vison he and Xavi had were crazy. The balls over the top or the sneaky through balls

he was nicknamed the illusionist aka the illusionista, iniesta would usually play higher to help facilitate the offense and he used to be a winger when he was younger

usually Iniesta played next to Xavi as central midfielders and had a defensive midfielder behind them (Keita and then Busquets). Messi was usually in the right wing (free roaming though) and an attacker in central offense (like Villa, Ibra at somepoint, Henry etc...) but Iniesta, Xavi and Messi were the MAGIC trio.

With xavi nd iniesta, although they were both quite attacking minded, they didn't really play the position of attacking midfielder, they were mainly played as a left and a right centre midfielder, with a centre defensive midfielder (busquets) that played in the middle but further back towards their defense, this allowed them to play off off each other very well and kind of free roam and do what they like behind the attack, and they would never get singled out cuz the other was always there for support where needed, and also wouldn't really have to worry too much about staying back because they always had that defending midfielder also, but could also come back if needed and control the game from basically anywhere

Xavi and Iniesta slowed the game down passing around the ball making the opp chase, that mean't the time Messi attacked in full beast mode the opps would get caught off guard and didnt even have the energy to deal with him,Basquet,Xavi,Iniesta one of the best midfield trio's in the game, great reaction guys......There is another spainish midfielder Xabi Alonso probably the greatest long range passer of his generation.......Bless
