- Had an absolute bombastic CAR CAMPING trip to Switzerland. Enjoyed it so much, weather was good, it dropped to -1 at night, but the camper had a really good diesel heater which kept it at comfortable and cosy 16 degrees inside.
Camper was provided by @roadsurfer Really good rental company.
The camping spot is on a private property which was reserved for us.

Cooked some German food for dinner and breakfast. Traditional Bavarian breakfast with amazing views.
The views, the Alps were incredible. Spectacular beautiful mountains.
I almost fell in love with the camper van ^^ It's small, fast, drives so comfortably, but has all the comforts of bigger camper van. So many smart built in goodies inside.
Ah almost forgot, I had to board a train on the way to camp. That was a surprise I did not expect! What an adventure.

The person who designed this van is a genius
u can rent those in Europe. they are provided by the company called "roadsurfer". afaik they even sell those cars after a certain time of duty.
the basic setup u see - chairs & table/cabinets/rear benchseating still are made by VW as a stock arrangement line called "ocean" - if iam not misstaken.

Do you mean the parking prohibition sign with the additional sign "Private", which indicates a parking space that can be booked via Roadsurfer Spots?

Literally, every single time you maneuvered something new in that van my mouth dropped in awe. The ingenuity of this off-road transport is next gen and I cannot wait until something like this comes to the US. I’m already saving my money.
The price is eye watering though. 95K USD for 4wd version, and over 70K for the cheapest in 2wd.

By about 17 minutes I thought I'd seen as much innovation as could be fitted into one van, but when the chairs and table appeared - just wow! And for a while I thought it odd to have back seats in a van designed to sleep two people... but then the pop-up. This van makes everything else look antiquated to the point of basic.

Guess my age is showing this used to be called caravanning not car camping. Camping was done with a tent. Usually involved hiking on foot to some location a car could not reach.
I have travelled all around the world and trekked the mighty Himalayas 4 times and many more adventures on safaris Africa and India. In my advancing years I think this mode of travel is Wonderful. Find a secluded safe place to camp and live life to its fullest.
I am in love with this little camper! What a wonderful way to tour Europe. 😍

I`m Swiss and its amazing to see you camping here. You`ve basically parked and camped in a no parking zone (red & blue sign ) 😅 be careful as penalties are expensive here !

I also did a camping tour of Switzerland with my family in a 1964 VW van that I converted into a camper. Watching you enjoy camping in the Alps overlooking a beautiful valley, brought back wonderful memories that I could never forget. Thank you.
Hi, first of all amazing video as you are always doing also with your Jeep. For sure you did not bring Ted with you but I enjoy him also in your regular videos very much. Just one nice hint, you should not have a beer for breakfast and later on drive the car. Maybe remember that in your next videos as is forbidden and also not a good signal to others. The VW California really is an amazing vehicle. I have one on my Christmas list.
This van makes me anxious. But happy he's having fun.
I lived the experience of this camper vicariously; feeling the pristine air rush by my face and the soft, perhaps virgin earth up on the mountain side, succumb softly beneath my feet. Gosh the experience was beautiful, so thank you! I also loved the solitude, savoring every minute of it; away and detached from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Momentarily jarred back to reality by a "what if" thought that crossed my mind. What if I thought to myself, this Van had been parked in the middle of downtown LA? 😳. Well I didn't allow this stray thought to penetrate my thoughts much longer, opting instead to return to the splendor of the amazing wonders of this world! I offered a silent prayer with Alhamdhulillah, that such pristine and glorious environments have remained unscathed by the human imprint and pray that they will remain unmolested for posterity! Greetings and best wishes from Sri Lanka!

Visited when I was a kid with my family - awesome to see again.
You could have opened the roof and put the "ceiling/2nd bed" up to have more headroom.
Maybe would have been too cold overnight, but have made it easier to cook ;)

Please put the "Knödel" 10 minutes in cold water before you cook them.
The "Rotkohl" has to be warmed up too.
So you get a better result with the original german food.

Very cozy. I know people do van life for various reasons, but some of these van builds are over-the-top. This would work for me. I would just need some hanging closet space because I work.

Imagine the chaos that would ensue if you accidentally spilled your food while cooking.
Wow! The views and the van are amazing! You can practically smell the crisp alpine air. It was fun seeing you eat that breakfast. My Grandpa is German, and the only person I've ever known to drink a beer during breakfast. :). Beer is kind of a food group in our family. 😄
