I also watched a video of him playing the same piano concerto as a soloist in 2015, at that point he was already making several gestures that anticipated as a conductor. In this 2017 video, which he conducted and also played the piano, he is obviously much freer and more alive. I think Frank Dupree is one of Beethoven's best comprehenders. I love his interpretation and performance of Beethoven.

What a splendid performance! I love the the authenticity of the music being interpreted for endless times. I think I have found a new favorite artist! I've watched other artists perform this and were most excellent. How is it you can outperform them? I really don't understand it, but your love of Beethoven connects with mine and I'm most enthralled!!!
