I'm the airport person at 2:58. Also I have context. One time in january this year, I flew to florida for a few days to visit a grandparent. I bought a water wiggler in the local souvenir store, and when I was going through the TSA checkpoint, they held me up because it had water inside of it. I lost the wiggler because of them. Update: I got a new water wiggler
Hey, toy marketer here. I researched these and asked around and turns out they were originally invented by Leonard Shlongson back in the 1941, and were originally meant to clean automobile exhaust pipes. They didn't sell well but he remarketed them as fidget toys 60 years later and were renamed "Wiggle wagglers." I learned all this because I made it up lmao
Every time I see dinosaur merch like those green water wigglers, I think of that Tumblr post that goes: "I’m so emotional about dinosaur stuffed animals,,, there are these creatures, extinct long before any of us were alive, but we found their bones and their eggs and their footprints. And we made drawings and models of what they could’ve looked like. And we made them into stuffed animals so we could hold them. We made them soft so we could love them. I’m sobbing" And honestly it's so real
That's humanity for you! You find something you can't touch or even see with your eyes, and humanity will try to make it real just so we can show them affection.
thats exactly why i love dinosaurs. they were on this same planet for MILLIONS of years and have been extinct for even more millions of years, yet we still know about them. Its like the people who lived in a house before you did. So us finding their bones, theorizing about them, making movies and toys about them, is just so cute. Not even a GIANT METOR could make them become forgotten forever.

Very happy to see the Dinosaur Water Wiggler in legendary tier, I had one when I was little and loved it. It must’ve sprung a leak at some point because it gradually lost mass overtime. Those poor dinosaurs got shrink wrapped 💔
I’m in 7th grade and a girl brought one of these to class this week, we all played with it and everyone was so amazed by it and in English class the teacher took it from her, then it slipped from his hand 3 TIMES onto the floor. It was so funny 😭
In Aus there was (and still is, I think) a novelty store called "What's New." Where I grew up this store was a glorious place for kids. They had every cheap, annoying plastic toy that you could think of from this era. Like the ferret-ball toy thing, Beanie Kids, fart bombs, sticky hands etc etc. It was a kid magnet. So I, like most local kids, ran in there on every visit to the shops, immediately wasting my pocket money. The second I see these slippery toys talked about online, I remember playing with these, chucking them at other kids and putting them back before being dragged out of the shop by my parents. I didn't actually know anybody who bought them, they were just in-store entertainment. So knowing what they were called just wasn't important. 😂😂 Kinda cool to see all these different versions though! I primarily remember them being full of glitter.

No idea what those "scooters" or items mentioned on the slinkies screen are (a US thing? pencil grips weren't popular here, either), but when it comes to the rest... oh man, so many memories unlocked! I've never had a wiggler myself, though.
I have the exact same relationship as you do with these and a similarly forgotten mobile game. "Amazing Alex" is a game made by Rovio (anger bird) that released in 2012 and was taken off the app store / discontinued only 2 years later in 2014. It's a silly little 2D physics puzzle game where you setup a chain reaction of events to reach a give goal (e.g. get ball in basket, make book fall on box) set in an average kid's home, garden and treehouse for all of its levels. All the objects were household items you would have found in the average 2000s kids home and each had different properties to make the levels more varied. I think what part this game plays in my life is very similar to the given topic of this video and I just wanted to share this with anyone who may remember this game as it is HEAVY nostalgia for those who remember, especially the music. you can still get some emulators online for this game.
I REMEMBER THAT!!!!! I FORGOT THE NAME OF IT SO I COULDNT FIND ANY EVIDENCE THAT IT HAD ACTUALLY EXISTED!!! I LOVED MESSING AROUND WITH THE PHYSICS!!!!
Recently I found one of these in a box, broken, and I decided to free the little dinosaurs from their containment before I threw it out. They now live happily inside of my silly box (a box full of silly things)
I had one with seven tiny tropical fish. I liked trying to grab the fish through the skin thing. I think I had it for about a year before the seam separated. It also felt super cool rolling it onto my fingers. I have some saved in my nostalgic toys list.
I recently got a pait of thoem for christmas. Very cool! Also, the ones at 5:45 look like those little popsicles that came on the tubes and would leave scars on the ends of your mouth if you tried to eat one.
My memories of them is connected to the rainforest Cafe's gift shop because they were for sale there. I loved straight to the gift shop and playing with them but my dad never let me keep one.
I had two of these and both broke in less then a week, I was sad about it for about an hour and than kept the squishy fish and I've had them till this day
I bought one when I went on a field trip to the Mandalay Bay shark reef in 5th grade. It had little sharks in it, and it was my favorite water wiggler I ever owned. The sharks inside were so detailed.
I get the whole goofy goober thing you were going for, but “fire in the whole” is actually said when detonating explosives, it’s so anyone in the blast radius has a warning so they can get away
I keep on collecting fidget toys to try to fill the void of those squishy water things, but they all just sit unplayed with. Nothing can replace the water wiggler.

But I have never known what they were called. Thank you. I'm gonna order some on amazon now :D
These… do not work like you think they would. The inside does not move if you were to move the outside up and down. The hole is also too small to fit anything of actual importance in it.
i have a pink one with flamingos in it but idk where it is also the purple space one (15:33) is cool update: i got one from a zoo gift shop, it's blue with bubbles printed on it and penguins, blue beads and glitter inside
I didn't realize water wiggler was a early 2000s thing :0 my baby sister got one a few months ago and i always thought it was just a new fidget toy gimmick trend
0:42 I had that exact kind of fish tank lamp in the back, the sorta thing where the image would scroll around the cylinder to simulate the image of an aquarium. i would watch it for a good while. There might've been one with cars too but that one may be a fabricated memory.
These are the type of thing that you get in museum, aquarium and zoo gift shops. All is not lost if they burst though, you can keep the little guys once they’ve been released from their infinite watery prison. You should totally start a kickstarter to make those ones you made up, they’re really cool. A thought about them: I wonder if a guy’s ever used them for an alternative purpose? 😉
I’m so glad someone put words to my feelings on theming. It just soothes my need to categorize things and I love them so much but it’s such a broad concept that I’ve never been able to really properly express my love for it. Edit: omg I love the space one so much :0
My class took a trip to seaworld in the late 90s and most of the kids got these as souvenirs on top of plush orcas. I could only afford a pen, so I had to watch and listen to the other 20 kids playing with them the entire 4 hour trip back.
I was obsessed with anything gummy sticky stretchy or could change color so I always payed attention to these. Once I had one shaped like a dachshund full of lil color bones and I loved it literally to bits.

We had these in the late 70s.
0:42 I had that exact kind of fish tank lamp in the back, the sorta thing where the image would scroll around the cylinder to simulate the image of an aquarium. i would watch it for a good while. There might've been one with cars too but that one may be a fabricated memory.
Can confirm, water wiggles are wigglier than expected. Dropped it all over a store floor when I found them in the wild.
OH MY GORB I WAS LITERALLY PLAYING PROJECT SEKAI ALL DAY TODAY AND GOT ABSOLUTELY JUMPSCARED BY THE WONDERHOY STICKER HDRCYBGVJGJVHBN?????

FELLOW PJSK FAN‼️
THOSE SQUISHY THINGS BRO YOU UNLOCKED A CRAZY MEMORY THANK YOU
These are the type of thing that you get in museum, aquarium and zoo gift shops. All is not lost if they burst though, you can keep the little guys once they’ve been released from their infinite watery prison. You should totally start a kickstarter to make those ones you made up, they’re really cool. A thought about them: I wonder if a guy’s ever used them for an alternative purpose? 😉

You've sold me. I want to start collecting water wigglers now
I’m so glad someone put words to my feelings on theming. It just soothes my need to categorize things and I love them so much but it’s such a broad concept that I’ve never been able to really properly express my love for it.
Edit: omg I love the space one so much :0
I agree with pongon at 6:17, uranium is so delicious!
I love your videos, idk why but they're strangely very relaxing yet stimulating at the same time. Good to hear from you again!
0:16 I remember I had a despicable me themed water Wiggler! *Forgets about it instantly*
My class took a trip to seaworld in the late 90s and most of the kids got these as souvenirs on top of plush orcas. I could only afford a pen, so I had to watch and listen to the other 20 kids playing with them the entire 4 hour trip back.
I love sharks... They're silly goobers

I had one that was SpongeBob themed and had glitter in it when I was a child, and all of a sudden, it started bursting, so I threw it away.
NO WAY THERE'S A SPONGEBOB ONE????
I HAD THE SPONGBOB TOO! HE LEAKED EVERYWHERE!
@@PolygonDonut The one that I had was blue and had pictures of SpongeBob and Patrick catching jellyfish.

I was obsessed with anything gummy sticky stretchy or could change color so I always payed attention to these. Once I had one shaped like a dachshund full of lil color bones and I loved it literally to bits.
