I would have thought that Jack would be playing his Alembic bass at this point. Alembic 1 as it was called was a medium scale bass and was fully Alembic with the pickups mounted on rails as it really was a work in progress and.was made for Jack in 1972 and was used in the recording of The Phosphorescent Rat which was released in 1974 if I recall.
@@LandonCossey I did a double check. The release date was in fact 1972 and the bass was made for Jack Casady. The model number was 72-01 and the estimated cost was $4,000. I remember reading about in some guitar magazine the summer of 1972. I guess that Jack Casady felt that his modified Guild Starfire was perhaps better for this occasion. I do remember that Alembic basses started showing up for general sale in the later seventies. I bassist that I knew at the time bought one and the Andy. West of the Dixie Dregs had one initially.
