- Argentina is a nation of immigrants. Since the formation of the modern nation of Argentina with the Constitution of 1853, Argentina has welcomed immigrants and those immigrants have built the nation into what it is today: A diverse melting pot of many distinct and beautiful cultures. Today, we visit the National Immigration Museum in Buenos Aires to learn a little more about the amazing history of the immigrants who built Argentina. Come along!

Iván Vučetić, a Croatian inmigrant who came to Argentina in 1882 (later nationalized Juan Vucetich) started working on the police department of La Plata.
In 1891, Vucetich read the first studies of Francis Galton on anthropometry, where Galton improved on the pre-existent method of fingerprints identification developed by Alphonse Bertillon.
Vucetich then created his own system better than Galton´s and in 1891 he made the first dactilar files in the world, with the fingerprints of 23 convicted criminals. In 1892, just one year later, he solved the crime of a woman who had killed her two children. It is considered in criminal science as the first murder crime solved by the use of fingerprints.
The police school of the province of Buenos Aires and the Police center of forensic studies of Zagreb are named after him.

I am mix of slovenian ,Italian and a bit of vasco(spain)....My granmother and granfather who came from slovenia sure arrive to this " Hotel de Inmigrantes", the inmigrants had 3 - 4 days free on this Hotel until they found work and house or room to move.
4:40 thats the Darsena norte, the naval military base of Buenos Aires, that ship is ARA Libertad, a training frigate. While usually you cant enter that area, sometimes the navy does an open doors exhibitions and you can enter and board several of the ships docked there. In Puerto Madero you can visit museum ship ARA Sarmiento, the predecesor to Libertad, she was built in 1898. Nearby you can also visit ARA Uruguay, a corvette from 1875, i cant recommend both museums enough.

Todos hemos tenido familiares que nos han contado como llegaron aqui ,muchos venian con pocas pertenencias y por ahi con un hermano o algun primo ,a veces no venia toda la familia y a travez de los años ,no podian regresar ,nunca mas los veian ,eso siempre me conmovió, hay millones de esas historias ,mucha resiliencia !!! Wow..soy argentina. Todos mis abuelos y bisabuelos vinieron de europa. Escapando de la guerra y el hambre y amaron este país. Pero no sabía q existía el museo. Gracias x mostrarlo..fue emocionante!
Hola! Está el museo de los inmigrantes y podés acercarte y preguntar por tus antepasados. Ellos buscan en los registros y te dicen que cuando llegaron a la Argentina. Yo no conozco pero ojalá pueda ir pronto a conocerlo así pregunto por los míos. Lo que es el Museo ahora, antes era el Hotel de los inmigrantes
@@ceciliaferrari9876 en la página del cemla podes consultar la base de datos de los ingresos hasta 1960, con el apellido es suficiente (lo difícil es COMO lo registraron) así encontré a mis abuelos paternos y a uno de mis bisabuelos de Francia. Te da la fecha, edad, ocupación y buque.
Dudo que hayan venido escapando de la guerra, justamente tue cuando menos inmigrantes vinieron, la mayoría vino antes o después de las guerras.
For the immigrants, the day began when the guards woke them up, very early. The dining room, a remarkably large space with windows to the garden on the ground floor and Carrara marble tables, fed up to 1,000 people per shift. For breakfast, coffee with milk, cooked mate and bread baked in the hotel's bakery are served; Lunch consisted of a hearty bowl of soup and stew with meat, stew, pasta, rice or stew. During the morning, women dedicated themselves to domestic chores, such as washing clothes in the laundry rooms, or taking care of the children, while the men managed their placement in the work office. The primary objective of immigrants was to find work, unless they had a family member or acquaintance to help them. In this way, immigrants were treated as guests until they found work or returned to their country of origin. For the attention and care of the immigrants, approximately 1,000 employees worked at the Hotel, including guards, dining room, cleaning and health personnel.

Excellent video Garry!! Many families are linked to that moment in history in the past where one of their ancestors decided to take a boat from Europe to Argentina and many arrived at that port and that particular place. There were waves of people who arrived and helped us to make this country great and create our very varied and particular identity. Saludos my friend 🇦🇷

I'd like to highlight that the ruling class expected British, Dutch and German engineers. We, the illiterate Italians, French and Spanish farmers were the least desirable people along with the Russian Jewish and Muslims.

Soy 5ta generación. Mis bisos fueron generacion de 1850 a 1880 y vinieron con capital para invertir. Todos comerciantes clase media. Pasa que la inmigracion del 1800 fue completamente diferente de la de la guerra que fue la última y más masiva

From my father’s side, my grandparents were from Lebanon and from my mother’s side, my grandmother was from the Basque country, in Spain and my grandfather was the son of a native inhabitant of the Argentine territory, from today’s province of Catamarca. Everybody in Argentina is mixed. Everybody descent from “a ship”.
Hola Garry! Respecto a la ascendencia italiana, el numero es mas que el 70% de italianos. La mayoria de argentinos desciende de italianos. La inmigracion fue muy importante en Argentina, 6 millones de inmigrantes llegaron a poblar el pais, mayormente en 3 oleadas inmigratorias Desde europeos, asiaticos, arabes. Italianos, españoles, alemanes, franceses, ingleses, irlandeses, escoses, galeses, holandeses, polacos, judios provenientes de Israel mayormente. portugueses, chinos, japoneses, coreanos, eslovenios, rusos, checos, croatas, daneses, suecos, suizos, libaneses, sirios, turcos, armenios. Como veras, fue muy variada nuestra inmigracion y nos sentimos orgullosos por eso. Que hayan venido a trabajar para forjar lo que ahora es nuesteo pais. Al tener tanto territorio, en el interior de Argentina se daban tierras para que los inmigrantes la trabajaran. Hay muchos descendientes de campesinos. Es rica e interesante nuestra historia.

You know, one of my grandparents was from Milan, I believed that he was the only Italian ancestor, but I recently discovered that another of my grandparents was originally from Trieste and more recently I learned that one of my grandmothers who I thought was originally from Spain was actually Sicilian. We Argentines speak Spanish like the other countries in the rest of Latin America, but our non-verbal language as well as our temperament is Italian, now I understand why...
Falso, no vinieron solo italianos, en total se establecieron 4,5 millones de europeos en Argentina, de los cuales 2,3 millones eran italianos, hubo como 1,5 millones de españoles también.

Only inmigrantes? 56% de genes nativos tiene Argentina al día de hoy. Y no olvidemos la vertiente afro, que aunque no se quiera ver, existe.
La población Afro era del 0.1%, prácticamente no hay. El 99% de la población argentina es inmigrante. Habían 50mil habitantes en todo el país antes de la primer oleada migratoria que trajo más de 3millones de inmigrantes y después 2 oleadas más y todas de europa
corrijo, "aproximadamente el 97% de la población tiene ascendencia europea total o parcial, mientras que SE ESTIMA que el 56% tiene alguna ascendencia indígena o mestiza, y entre el 4 y el 5% tiene alguna ascendencia africana"... que sinceramente son numeros que me dan por la poca segregacion que hubo en argentina.
Aunque con ciertas experiencias que experimente y del motivo de donde sacan esos porcentajes, te recomiendo que no confies mucho en estos porcentajes del gobierno, ya que normalmente son sacados no solo de encuestas sino tambien de otras cosas como Becas, donde me acuerdo que hubo una epoca que mucha gente mintio sobre sus descendencias porque se decia que tenias mas probabilidades de conseguir una beca si seleccionabas ciertas descendencias.
Todavia asi, digamos que la cita que pase, es "100% fiable" ya que lo saque de Wikipedia. Pero todo lo que son encuestas del gobierno, nunca es bueno fiarse del todo, mas que verlo todo de una estimacion.

@@silvanatorres6356 falso, España tuvo mucha más injerencia que Italia en Argentina, sino fijate qué idioma hablamos y cuáles son los apellidos más comunes, como el tuyo por cierto. Además la influencia española ya lleva más de 4 siglos, y la italiana 150 años y es mucho menor, por lo que se va disipando, mientras la española se mantiene firme

Hello i see that you are in argentina and i would like to extend a warm invitation to you to visit Cordoba, Cordoba its located at the center of the country. I suggest you come around October/November as the weather is nice and warm around that time (usually 25 to 30 degrees celcious). Here i will show all around and take you to the places where i like to eat at, and obviously i wont charge you a penny for showing you around. In exchange i get to practice my english and hear cool stories, we'll eat the best meat in the world and see all around here. As you can see language will not pose any problem as i am 100% fluent in english and of course you can ask me how, whatever word that comes to your mind is pronounce in spanish.
