- The 1st of a 2 part video. Taken in the kitchen where I keep my Phalaenopsis orchids on the window sill shelves, a look at each one as I water them. (Filmed yesterday - Friday afternoon.)

Thank you Roger.
You're welcome.
Thanks Roger.
You're welcome.
I now use the alcohol spray as well, really does help when spot checking. Great advice!
I really enjoy your presentations Roger, thank you so much! Your commentary is very encouraging for a novice grower. It inspires me to try to save the gifted phalaeonopsis orchids from our local Australian hardware shop and give them a second (or third) lease on life. I don't have the issue with cold, but dealing with very high temperatures and high humidity during our summers in Queensland. Best wishes to handsome Mojo!!
Thanks - and you're welcome.
I always love your videos. Just treated myself to 2 phals from a ‘big box store’. Looking forward to seeing them progress. Hello to Mojo. Thank you Roger.😊
Thanks - and you're welcome.
I've had a phal with a terminal spike push out new leaves. I think the spike started in the right location, but couldn't break out the side, so it traveled up. All is well now.
Hi Roger,Try your Cimbidiums the same as I do in full sun next summer. They will love it in Dorset.I was from Sussex.I am now in Sydney Australia .Some Sydney temptures next week will be between 30c _40c I just keep an eye on them and water lightly, they are a lot toughter then you think .I am the guy that treats his Epidendrums like catus and mixed them both up together with the Cimbidiums. Epidendrums are 4ft high Cymbidiums are 3ft high one shades the other and are fine. Was growing them both togather on my garage roof for years with very little shade . food for thought .Regards Pete.
I love clothes peg trick!
Are you not concerned that mealybugs might get passed from one plant to another via the water? Or do you put something in it to kill them?
All the Phals are touching each other on their shelves anyway.
Oh right! Makes sense.
I’ve got one of the mini ones and it’s growing an internal spike, but I have two more leaves coming out of the middle. Do you think that could be a Katie?
I have mine in my living room, but they keep dropping the flowers specially my white one had five blooms on it or buds and one bloom that came out and the rest of them fell off. I think it was something to do with the cold. Do you agree?
Cold, draft, dry air - many reasons.
If I look at the space an orchids takes up then my largest Phal is larger then my Grammatophyllum 😁
Yes - even an orchid in a large pot takes up less width than some Phals.
