Striking out for the second time on Bulbophyllum. My dry Northern US location seems to be the biggest factor. Today it’s a high of -1 Fahrenheit (-18 Celsius) but at least it’s sunny out 🤪
I think we all lose a few orchids Roger it’s all part of the growing experience but sad on occasions however you do have a wider collection of different genus I couldn’t grow warmer ones because it would obviously cause me problems with my cooler growers so I’ll stick to what I know and hopefully manage, I also acquired some disa’s a couple of years ago but sadly forgot to replenish their water so lost them. Enjoyed the chat thanks for the mention l’m giving it a little longer to see if viewing picks up with the channel, speak soon.
The EU import/export requirements are ridiculous given standards on either side are essentially the same a they used to be pre-brexit. However given the difficulties I really do wish the UK community (such as it is) made more of an effort to exchange plants to keep the stock in the UK where possible. Societies may do this, but for a lot of people (myself included) its not really an option. Something the Orchid society of Greater Twickenham (OSGB) could do, but don't. A UK based WhatsApp group perhaps. I've lost cool growers in cool conditions and warm growers in warm conditions and have warm growers doing just fine in the cool. I sometimes wonder just how accurate some of these temperature classifications are and we simply just have to learn from bitter experience.
Are those new disa "tubers" called corms? I have a few tolumnias that managed to escape attacks by rampaging mealy bugs when I was away last year. They are the only orchids I have that are small enough to fit on the smaller of my shelves.
I think the true term is Stolons - a term most 'Disa people' use but this is an uncommon expression that many have never heard of so I usually use the expression 'tuber like growths'.
CONGRATULATION 🎉 on your YT anniversary . I often re- watch your " older " videos. Thank you for the chat 👍😊🌺.

You must be in my part of the world. Is it difficult to keep the humidity up? I struggle with the heat on constantly.
I've been meaning to ask you where your mugs are available.
I always enjoy my Sundays with Roger.
The company I used that integrated my shop into TH-cam decided that the UK was not viable after Brexit so my shop was removed.
That was a very funny moment, when you looked for more orchids that aren't there anymore.
More coffee !
Thanks for the chat, This grey cold weather is not good for anything, Plants and people 😢
You're welcome (and agreed!)
I enjoyed your mix of politics and orchids. 😊
Thanks.
Nice chat. Thanks Roger.
Thanks - and you're welcome.
Thanks for the video. Have you ever considered lining your window with bubblewrap to keep some of the heat in?
Happy Anniversary.. I have lost some orchids as well😢. Enjoyed your video

Thanks for the chat, Roger. Gloomy day here with a snowstorm tonight. Can’t wait for spring!

Hi Roger. Have you considered 4 smaller trays ?

My changed environment has had some serious consequences but now I'm used to it, I can choose orchids most likely to do well.
So that's how it feels when I just walk out of frame in my videos to get something 🤣
Unusual, but I couldn't be bothered to edit it out.

I think it's not so much 'how accurate' but more about 'how adaptable'?

So why don't you put the disa's on the first shelve and put other orchid on the black tables if the tables arent sturdy enough.
What makes you think the shelves are strong enough - I would have already used them if that were true.
Does Inse have a You tube channel?
He does!
