Saw Steve in Australia when he toured with Steely Dan bloody great.Just as energetic and inspirational as when I saw him first in 1967. Steve is a great musician, hes produced some wonderful stuff over the years. Love his music, his attitude to hunting, not so much, in fact , not at all.
I was at the show at Hunter Valley great show both Steve and Steely Dan where great. Saw Ivar Davies sitting nearby getting into the show like the rest of us was good to see Walter Becker playing and talking before we lost him.
Hard to describe, what Steve Winwood did in the music scene of the sixties-seventies.. You could wait for it. Always very peacefull, but with power and intensity. It felt like finally having free time in the free space of your heart, And always this longing for the better. As if it was part of the way to Heaven. He seemed calling for that. And endless flow in the right direction, full of hope and confidence. Finally free. It was powerful, but never agressive or offensive. That was his trade mark. It was always modest, but pointing at hidden powers within yourself. The art of making Adventure within yourself, without actually doing anything. The voice of being truely humane.. Keep on going, it says. No, not something to always listen to, but to fall back to after so much else. Somehow the light green-gray pastel color of the guitar he uses here, reminds me of what he was bringing then. Never agressive, always inviting. This concert, at first I didn't like it too much. He sang more convincing in the old days, and I don't like to go back to old stuff. But I felt, he deserved comment after I had enyojed it so much. And while writing, it all came back. He has been an icon in those days, binding people together.. A bit like the eternal adventure of the heart..
I have seen Steve live overt a dozen times, including this past summer with the Doobie Brothers, and he is always outstanding. Such a gifted musician with such an amazing body of work. Thank you so much for posting this!
I sure remember one of my favorite concerts was when I saw Traffic when the album Low Sparks of High Heel Boys came out! Way back in the middle 70’s. His hair was so Long, Really Long! One of my favorite tunes was John Barley Corn Must Die! Still one of my favorite Albums and Songs❤❤❤
Really enjoyed this. Traffic is still some of my favorite music. Steve was the creative force of original "jam band" for the rock crowd IMO. I still play my version of 40 Thousand Headmen at solo gigs.
As a daughter of a musician ( By the way, my Great-Grandfather was the bell-ringer at the Old North Church) in Boston, and the mother of two musicians, Steve owes nothing.....paid in full...Love you Steve, sincerely, Valerie.....
I don't know if it's just my old fart's brain, but this music is as compelling and fresh as it when first recorded, and I still get some of the same sense of chill and excitement that ran through me when I first heard Spencer Davis, then Traffic, Blind Faith, and, correct me if I'm wrong, Powerhouse, perhaps precursor to Cream, and I think I discern the Winwood voice singing Crossroads, perhaps my favourite version from an anthology called What's Shakin'. There's some really good thinking man's (person's) music here and beautifully executed by talented people.
Tout simplement exceptionnel ! A vingt ans j'achetais l'album On The Road de Traffic ! rien a bougé - Les musiciens sont très bons çà va sans dire ! Merci pour cette diffusion !
There are some artists that just simply tower above the rest. I was a pup in high school when "Gimme Some Lovin" by Spencer Davis Group hit .... a helluva time to be alive ! That's how long this guy has been pumping out fantastic music. The variance is extraordinary ! Blues, jazz, pop, folk (John Barleycorn) .... you name it. Steve, you're our modern day Beethoven ! And I certainly don't say that lightly. And where did you find that drummer ??

Playing this concert through my studio speakers and can somewhat agree with you: Steve is playing both a left hand bass as well as the bass pedals and also singing. They also placed a subwoofer right behind him. I think that's why the bass is sometimes both not played/missing and - as in old school jazz - always rather discrete in the whole 'picture' 🙂

Steve Winwood: excellent musicianship- but his songwriting is even more impressive. He has given us music that will last a VERY long time. (BTW, I never liked the tenor of his voice, it’s like fingernails on a chalkboard 😁)
Playing bass with the left hand on the Hammond doesn't quite cut it, especially for this kind of music. The mix is lacking a more defined low end and Steve's vocals are not prominent enough. Other than that, great performance. But come on, Steve, get yourself a real good bass player.
A master of his trade, We are blessed to have, had Mr Winwood for over 60 yrs in the music world.
No matter with whom Steve Winwood plays together it's allways Fantastic. Thank you. Sir, so much for your great Performances
This música Is ok nsw brcause we need peas and love! ✌🏻
Agreed you’re talent is remarkable ❤😊

That's the truth. His guitar playing on Mr Fantasy was as good as it has ever been, perhaps better. Who could be compared?
Does this man ever age? His playing is timeless and his vocals haven't faded. I remember him from the 60s onward. Amazing. What a legend. Respect...
He was playing professionally since he was about 14, so he's younger than his contemporaries!

I was just in the mood for this,
Born one month before me, about 3 miles away, how come he got all the musical talent? Rock on Stevie KRO
Steve Winwood and his band are amazing!! One of the best instrumental bands I've ever seen!! Saw him back in 1987!
It doesn't get any better than this!!
Ageless talent. Good guitarist, excellent keyboardist, superb singer. And he can play the drums as well.

JAZZ~ FOLK .
bothers me , where is the Bass coming from?
There is a lack of bass guitar, why is there no bassist in the band?
Keyboard bass, I assume?
Never ass u me. 😳
bass pedals cf. Lee Michaels ?!
The hands. They don't b need a bass cause you have a bass in the left hand figures

Steve doesn’t use bass players anymore..

@@srf1311 Possibly, but still doesn't cut it. In fact, if anything, even less so. It's hard to play funky or intricate basslines on pedals.
