Yo hello my friend I’m in the “glorious oh so free” America and got lucky during the COVID shutdowns and scalpers, insane sales on fb of 4500$+ for some cards of the 3090 variant, I was so luck in fact I was able to buy a 3090 FE direct from Nvidia thanks to dads coworker having a daughter married to a lead engineer on the team for green … he said they get one of each card to purchase as Nvidia employees at cost. He bought the 3080 and 3070 he was allowed one for his system and one his wife’s he got their nephew a 3060 at cost and wasn’t gunna get the 3090 … I scored it at 1250$ and shipping… that was awhile ago and until now I was so unaware of the correct and proper procedure to do this whole process. I run a water cooled system monster big. Thanks for the in-depth lesson and clear explanation of the “reasons why” as well as the “how to’s”. Subbed and alerts at all thanks dude for good ckntent

@@ImWateringPSUs since your way more knowledgeable than I on the subjects regarding the overclocks/undervolts and what not. May I ask what’s the use case senerio of the core voltage slider (above curve editor button) I assume it increases the base voltage supply to the card or am I wrong? And when would that be useful other than when liquid nitrogen cooling for a overclock competition….seems rather dangerous to touch at that point because the major differences you get adjusting tiny amounts of voltage to any electronics… so at like say even base voltage of 1.08V (which is the voltage setting the 3090 FE ships at) …. So in my head I’d think if that adds X% of the base 1.08V then going 25% has a high beating delivered to the GA102 inside with a small chance some magic blue smoke XD… unless heavy water cooling is in play with health sized rads, I run a mora-3 pro rad on 18 low rpm fans and shit. I could prolly I’d imagine, add 50-60% before I got nervous with my setup but on air like 10% increase would do a lot of damage… or like am I drastically underestimating the amount of power the card could handle at “giving her all she’s got captain” settings of voltage… and do you have a video out perhaps on more I can squeeze outa this card… I play 3 monitor surround and stream the middle screen only normally lol and I sit max settings on escape from Tarkov with around 70 frames +\- 15 frames based on map… I’d really love to get that at 90fps on the worst map and 110fps on the best hahaha sorry for the book

What about 3090 OC cards? Mine is already @1950Mhz boost clock out of the box. Can I just copy this or? No right? I have to go down with the clock speeds surely.
Damn, I'm not getting the same results. At 850/1850 it crashes, the best i was able to get is 850/1825. But at these settings I'm not getting nowhere near the 100w reduction of power consumption. It's more like a 30w reduction from the usual 350w. I tried 825/1775 and got a 50w reduction. So not as much gains as everyone else is getting.
I’d say try 775mV at 1700Mhz with no VRAM offset. Should do the trick! Also sorry for the late answer, I try to get back to everyone but a few comments slip
I have a question, I followed the first preset shown, but i didn't get a flat curve. After a certain point, the frequency goes up a bit and then continues to flatten out
@@ImWateringPSUs ok I will try that later! The card is doing some remote rendering work so I don't wanna interrupt it right now. I think it might be a factory OC thing perhaps

Question once i hit apply does it stay applied forever or do i need to keep opening msi after burner everytime i turn the pc on or how does it work exactly ?

U could turn on the Watts consumption from MSI Afterburner to show in real time how much is the power draw and how much is the difference after undervolt.
I dont should I download and stress test on it? For some reason it wouldn’t go past but I uninstalled my drivers and used ddu and then was able to go past im still experimenting with number 1830 mhz and 850-900 do seem to be the sweet spot for me if I try to do less volt I’ll drop under 300fps but this keeps me between 300-350fps. Do you have any videos for overclock or should I just stick with undervolt
@@ImWateringPSUs no it wont, unless you lower the power limit. Undervolting isnt meant to reduce the maximum power consumption. Also btw, my 3090 @ 1850/850mv can run unigine all day but will crash within minutes in Cyberpunk xD

Is it possible to make the same in firestorm settings like in MSI? firestorm and MSI cant work together when windows starts yeah?
Trying this for my Rog Strix 3090 very helpful thank you
Glad I could help my man, consider subscribing to support the channel :)
I too have the Rog Strix 3090. Should I go up to 1850 or 1900?
@aleesostan mines ran good until it came to Cyberpunk 2077, everything shit the bed after that. I haven't used it again but will go under 1800
Yo hello my friend I’m in the “glorious oh so free” America and got lucky during the COVID shutdowns and scalpers, insane sales on fb of 4500$+ for some cards of the 3090 variant, I was so luck in fact I was able to buy a 3090 FE direct from Nvidia thanks to dads coworker having a daughter married to a lead engineer on the team for green … he said they get one of each card to purchase as Nvidia employees at cost.
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave some feedback! :) Also I love reading in-depth stories like this and thanks a LOT for the sub :))
Hi i just followed your advice on my GF RTX 3090 and wow what a succes much cooler same FPS and much more silent THANKS!
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this! :)
@@ImWateringPSUs weird today when i choose the profile that i made yesterday it seems that my temps are 10° higher then yesterday weird... any suggestions?
Hi mate, thanks for this video tutorial. I just didn't get why you lower the core clock by 250MHz (I swear I'm not arguing, I'm really asking to understand more of this subject), can you explain it to me or give me a hint to where to look, please? Thanks a lot for spreading your precious knowledge (and to be so passionate about it)! Have a nice day!
P.S.: Sei un grande, bro! Non mollare, continua così!
Thx bro ! i was playing Thorne and liberty and mi GPU in the main menu of character was giving me 80c of temperature i use this method and now is now is 69/70 thx new sub
pd sorry for my bad english

just bought a second hand pc with a MSI Ventus 3090. It keeps crashing at 1850 and 850. It even crashes at 1800 and 850. Have I gotten a bad card?

Should I revert power limit and temp limit after applying the core clock?
I'm running haven but I can't get msi afterburner to show ( overlay) what am I doing wrong?
I might just have a very unlucky card..?
I tried 850 @ 1800, but my power consumption stays exactly the same
Even when I put 775 @ 1800, the power draw stays exactly 350W, but when I put it even higher, it does crash. I have no idea what's going on...
great video man, keep up the good job
update: i did the default settings on a 3090 gigabyte turbo editio, tried rdr2 2k gaming and nothing change...i had some minor performance issues, temperature the same, voltage ofc max 850. Any help?

If you go -250, your effective clock and core clock will have big discrepancy. What do you think about this?
I talk about it in depth in my RTX 4090 video, the issue really gets serious with RTX 4000!
Is that clock stretching?
Does this include the rtx 3090 surpim x?
Muchas gracias amigo :)
My man! Glad I could help, consider dropping a sub to support the channel :)
Thank you

had Monster Hunter World running in the background while i did this
1850 was fine, dropped 40W+ in usage but it did indeed crash at 1900
My man! Glad I could help, consider dropping a sub to support the channel :)
will this work on FTW3 3090 card? i don't want to waste it.
I’m having problems with the memory clock being so high got the same RTX 3090 PNY. Any recommendations?
You can apply a negative offset to it! Try -500
Is this in the driver or in the card? Like if I were to do this in windows and carry it over to Linux, would these underclockings carry over?
Unfortunately it wouldn't carry over
My curve doesn't start like yours at 1300. How can I have it reset to have the same starting point? Reset in MSI again puts it at 1200.
thanks!
Different cards have different stock curves, but the tutorial in the end is the same :)
My bro, thanks
60C-62C at 99% power at the same FPS if not better
Does this undervolt also reduce idle power usage when not gaming?
Unfortunately not really, it might reduce it slightly if you don’t hit the “L” key but it’s meant to reduce under load wattage
What a legend.
My man!
Is the memory clock worth overclocking tho?
Imho yes! No need to do it if you’re only after temps tho
What about 3090 OC cards?
Mine is already @1950Mhz boost clock out of the box.
Can I just copy this or? No right? I have to go down with the clock speeds surely.
Same exact settings to reduce temps, for more performance you'll need a bit more voltage and clock speed
Same here. I have the 3090 Strix OC. What would you recommend? What values
Thanks
1850mhz and 850mv on my 3090 it just starts to artifacting, should i get rid of the card?
The best it can do is 925mv
Ah that’s a very bad silicon quality man, sorry to hear it. I’d say try 1800Mhz at 850mV
I'm able to get 1920 mhz at 850 voltage
1950 mhz / 862 voltage
Great video
After a certain point, the frequency goes up a bit and then continues to flatten out
You need a bigger negative offset, try -300
@@ImWateringPSUs ok I will try that later! The card is doing some remote rendering work so I don't wanna interrupt it right now. I think it might be a factory OC thing perhaps
I do not get it. Does this not make the core work in more voltage in idle mode?
Nope, but it does run at lower clock in idle
Waiting for your rtx 4080!
Thanks a LOT for commenting and the support, the 4080 one is on the way as prices are still a bit high here in Italy, but if you wanna try to undervolt it in the meantime, the settings are very similar to my RTX 4070 Ti video!
Question once i hit apply does it stay applied forever or do i need to keep opening msi after burner everytime i turn the pc on or how does it work exactly ?
You need to automatically start with windows aaaand to be subscribed to the channel!
When i apply in the graphic my card stays on 1950mhz max stock and mV remains to 1050
You must have another software interfering or be missing some steps!
thank you so much
It’s my pleasure really :)
I get the same watts, please help me! It worked for me correctly for 3 months, but for some reason now it returned to 360-380 watts, I always got 200-280, I installed msi afterburner again and I have put the undervolt back on but for some reason I get 360-380 watts, what is happening ?
That’s very weird, I’d say there has to be some kind of software interfering
brother, what to do about msi afterburner applying a random offset whenever i click apply
That’s weird, try to double check the settings
U could turn on the Watts consumption from MSI Afterburner to show in real time how much is the power draw and how much is the difference after undervolt.
That’s actually a very good advice! I used a Wattmeter for my RTX 4070 Ti UV video but I’ll start using software readouts too!
@@ImWateringPSUs ❤
i followed all the steps but for some reason my mhz is stuck on 1695 even when the curve is set to 1850 can you give me any tips how to fix pls?
Do you have heaven benchmark running?
I dont should I download and stress test on it? For some reason it wouldn’t go past but I uninstalled my drivers and used ddu and then was able to go past im still experimenting with number 1830 mhz and 850-900 do seem to be the sweet spot for me if I try to do less volt I’ll drop under 300fps but this keeps me between 300-350fps. Do you have any videos for overclock or should I just stick with undervolt
hey please reply how much watt , it will drop . as 3090 goes to 350 watt on full load
It will bring the card all the way down to 200/250W
@@ImWateringPSUs no it wont, unless you lower the power limit. Undervolting isnt meant to reduce the maximum power consumption.
Also btw, my 3090 @ 1850/850mv can run unigine all day but will crash within minutes in Cyberpunk xD
i have the same gpu as in the video (pny 3090 ) and unfortunately i hear coil whine under full load ? is it normal for this card or not
Unfortunately some cards do have coil whine, but undervolting would help
I'm only getting about 1690-1710mhz on my GPU any idea why?
If higher is crashing you might wanna try giving it 25mV more, but some cards simply have worse silicon unfortunately
@@ImWateringPSUs thanks I'll try that. I did buy my 3090 during the middle of covid I got a cheap one as the prices were just way too high so that might be why.
What is the purpose of the core voltage % slider?
No need to touch it
I have to do more tests cuz with RT on the GPU crashes, but it really works.
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave some feedback! :) I’ve also got a few build videos on the channel and more coming, if you like the content consider subscribing as it really helps me a lot!
Yep, best way to test if your undervolt is stable or not is with a maxed out raytracing game. Forget the benchmark stuff, intensive games with raytracing are the best way to test for stability.
Is it fine to use Evga X1 for this too?
Unfortunately it’s better to use Afterburner
mine stays at 1710 but goes to 1075mV sometimes when i have it set for 775. I dont understand :\
Try doing -350 on the curve
RTX 3090 Zotac Trinity, running 1800MHz @ 750mV :) Furmark still manages to use 315W tho
Great results! The 3090 draws a TON of power if 100% utilized😅 a little extra trick can be to drop the memory clock a lil’, if you don’t need the performance
Can i just copy your settings for my strix 3090 and get low temps and would the fps drop be noticeable or the fps wont drop that much. Im asking because when it comes to pc stuff im a noob like no other lol
Yes you can just copy them, you won’t notice a significant drop in Fps and you 1% lows should actually increase! (Hence the title!)
@@ImWateringPSUs thanks alot bro i saw many videos and tutorials for undervolting but i did not understand fully but your videos made it so simple and to the point. You deserve more subs and views
