English/French country or cottage style is not dark nor castle like. Your home is very nice with good features. The doors & cabinets are great. You are on your way to having a sweet country cottage. Don't use dark paint or heavy items that you will later regret. Live in your home and little by little collect loved items for special places in your home. You will enjoy the journey. 🌸 🐦 💞

Wow that house is amazing with so much potential. I love the idea of the livingroom being a dark library, give off dark academia vibes. Also you should heavily consider making the conservatory a part time office in warmer months, that view is to die for. I saw you had a few mythologie candles around, every time I see someone with them I always have to ask, what's your favorite ones??

What a wonderful little house. :) I wouldn't worry about getting the hang of the wood stove, it will take plenty of trail and error. If you want to make your desk more timbery you can get an iron on timber veneer. That really is a stunning view! Congratulations.
Oh Luna it’s absolutely stunning! The house is amazing….and it already looks like you. I love the sage green and the woodland creatures theme. That also seems very ‘you’! Every room is adorable. Don’t be in a big hurry to finish it all. Enjoy the process. I bet the garden will be so pretty this coming Spring. And I’ll say I love gnomes, but especially mushrooms 🍄! I have too many myself. But they’re just magical in my opinion. It’s amazing, I feel as if I’ve watched you grow up. You’re very beautiful and so is your home (and it goes without saying…your HAIR!!) Green is very earthy and it represents a spiritual connection to the beauty of the natural world! Yes I too love her shade of green and the wood, I hope she carries the green and wood theme throughout her cottage which is very cozy and ethereal in a way!

@Luna Leodrune Please don't remove the doors to your kitchen cabinets! They add to the beauty of the cabinet and since you are out in the country you need to protect your cabinets from dust and bugs.
I will do whatever I want, there are no bugs in my kitchen and as I said I use everything often so will dust.

@Luna Leodrune A suggestion delivered with both respect and sincerity: get rid of that sofa! Not only does it NOT look like a high-end piece of furniture, its ultra-modern style clashes hideously with the quaint charm of your cottage and worse, it's so damn HUGE that it makes the room look even tinier than it already is. Instead, buy a sofa no bigger than a loveseat and DO NOT buy a sectional sofa. Instead, buy an elegant, floral pattern sofa with a WOOD frame and some well-placed, hand carving OR buy a traditional leather sofa. A Chesterfield sofa in leather would look AWESOME in your cottage!
Also, please REMOVE that god awful, dark green paint on that wall! The colour makes the room look TINY & DARK, instead of light and airy. Instead, either paint it a neutral colour OR even better, install WOOD paneling that is different from the wooden doors but nonetheless compliments it. Red oak would be an EXCELLENT choice.
Lastly, please re-position the piano, as it is THISCLOSE to the small dining table, giving the room an awkward look. Preferably, if the room is indeed intended to function as a conservatory, there should be NO dining table there at all, just a chair or two or a simple bench.
I didn’t ask for your opinion, I love my house. The suggestions you’ve given sound terrible to me, I like my dark living room, it feels roomy and cosy and I hate florals. The sofa cost a fortune, it’s cosy and suits us well, I don’t care about things looking ‘high end’ or 'elegant', it's not my style at all. We tried a chesterfield and it was hard and not comfy, a loveseat isn’t big enough for us, we need the big one and I love corner sofas. The room is a lot more spacious than it shows up on camera and doesn't feel cramped at all. The wood panelling was already here, handmade with love by a local craftsman and we love it. The conservatory is awkward because it needs to function as multiple things; a dining room, an office, a conservatory to relax and somewhere for the piano to go. It's a small house and we have a lot of needs for it, that’s the way it is, imperfect and lovely!
I don’t know why I’m even justifying this to you I’m just so shocked someone would comment something like this. Everyone on the earth has different tastes and opinions, we’re not all the same as you! It feels incredibly disrespectful. Please don’t give unsolicited ‘advice’.
