- I found an AMAZING thrift store here in the Hudson Valley! I come across a lot of consignment stores and antique stores here ... and they're great. But pricey! So to find a thrift store that gives back to the community while offering good pricing made me SO happy. I found a few treasures that I'm so excited to have here in the cottage.
This week, I had a sudden little burst of energy and rearranged my living room! This layout really opens up the place and gives Charlie plenty of room to run around. I also got a lot accomplished in the garden. It's been a busy week : )

I am recovering from some spinal surgery and watch a lot of TH-cam and TV lately and your channel is one of the most calming And pleasant that I watch. You really have that eye for cinematography and content. You and Charlie are quite the duo. Keep doing what you're doing. You touch my soul.

If you want to sew a beautiful flowey dress, just pick your favorite dress you love to wear, turn it inside out and use it to create a pattern for the perfectly fitting dress.
You make it sound easy! But ok, I'm going to try this!❤❤❤
Looking closely at the inside out dress will really show you how it is constructed and it will make sense. Also, TH-cam has tutorials.

That only works if you already know how to sew!
That's how I learned to sew. I looked closely at how everything was constructed and asked my grandmother for an old, worn sheet and felt safe because I wouldn't waste money on fabric. She told me to try because if I made a mess of it, it could still be cut into rags for polishing. It worked for me and I hope it works for others. I wound up embroider ing all around that dress and all my friends borrowed it because it was so romantic. It has been repaired many times with more embroidery stitches and after 50 years it hangs on my guest bedroom wall with a straw hat.

I love how you care for yourself. I used to be able to care for myself better, however, menopause has been a challenge for me. That coupled with crippling depression have combined to render me sporadic at best at self care. Fortunately, the depression has been at bay for a while now, I’m hoping other things will improve as well. You are an inspiration.
Be patient and find a therapist who you can trust.

I had the most wonderful experience yesterday morning. My dear friend invited me to go with her and some of her family who love, love all things thrifting. I had to be at her house at 7 am! We drove to a farm about 45 minutes from her home. The sale was in a large machine shed and everything was 25 cents!! There was everything imaginable. Because I have limited space I had to be very selective in what I bought. I was most excited to get a 4 yard piece of vintage fabric ! 💕
My mother had her estate sale before she downsized. Her house had three generations of stuff….some things I had never seen. Letters written by my great grandmother and aunts….they would hand over the page like it was a telephone receiver. But the one thing I remember was a bolt of fabric from the turn of the century. Very vivid blue plaid in cotton. It was sold during the estate sale. I saw that fabric featured in a movie about Sicilian immigrants…no luggage but many had a bundle. Had I not seen that movie on the big screen I probably wouldn’t have noticed all those blue bundles….but I recognized the fabric.
I am having a really hard time right now, but I knew when I watched your blog, I would feel better. Thank you for your joy, your struggles, you’re a sweet dog and you are thrift shopping! I hope you know how much you help people because you’re so real and your daily life connects with so many of us. Love you honey.💕

Being outside is my place of refuge. My life is so stressful right now. And to come in from work and spend time with my herbs and veggies and flowers calms me down and gets me ready for the rest of my day.

But as long as you don’t mind adding some white or colored cotton along with that gorgeous sheet fabric, your dress will be beautiful! Find a pattern and on the back it will tell you exactly how much yardage you need. ❤

Put couch on wall where keyboard is, move tv to other side of bedroom door, keyboard back where it was..
That way youre facing the front of cottage..
Seems more natural than having your back to the front ...
Thats where your lovely porch is, and all your plants etc...
You could angle the chair in area where tv is currently...
Makes a nice little L shaped seating area wirh couch against wall and chair to the left of it?
Been redoing homes for years using what people already have...nothing is more fun!

awww motived to sew. you can even find the pattern and tools at a thrift store. get a seam ripper to get the elastic out of the fitted sheet that way you will have more fabric..

Unfortunately, my enjoyment in your last video was damaged by the vaccine misinformation from some commenters. As a public health person I am very aware of the danger that comes from undermining the protections against infectious diseases -- we are so lucky to have vaccines. My mother told me of her terror for her children during the polio epidemic before the polio vaccine was developed. I will never forget the terrible number of deaths, the morgue trucks, the overloaded hospitals and exhausted health care workers during the first year COVID when we had no vaccines and virtually no medical treatments that worked.

Love that bridge. With all of the rain, everything is so lush and green. Very calming. The white top that you got at that terrific thrift store is so cute. Your gardens are so lush too. Would it help to put some chicken wire around the butterfly plants to keep the critters away? You could use one of your beautiful dresses to guide you when you make your dress out of the nice sheet. About 50 years ago I lived a few years in Glenham. I tried to find where we lived at the top of the hill, but couldn’t find it. My step father had a farm up there. There was also a dry river/lake bed and a pond. Someone pointed out v where his brother lived before he died. I love wondering, antiquing, and thrifting.

This was such a lovely video. I also have the rule for myself, if I bring something in, something else has to go. I follow it MOST of the time. We are currently getting ready to move to another house though and so I have gotten rid of many things. I may need to add a couple of things when we get settled in and decide just what we need to make our new home work for us. There is no storage in the bathroom or even a linen closet anywhere so a thrifted cabinet or some shelving may be in order! I will also have a bit of yard so some flowers may also be necessary especially since I too like to spend as much time outdoors as I can. Have a beautiful week! ❤

Hi, you can take apart an old dress to use as a pattern. You'll need a seam ripper, a packet of needles, straight pins, and thread. You can get all of it for under $10 total.
