Fantastic results, dude. I am so happy for you that you salvaged so much of the wreck. I can see why you love this spot. Hope you're back in the air soon!
Loved the video - I think this one is my favorite of yours so far. And thanks for the advice yesterday - what can I say - you were right about the AR Drone, you know your stuff. Loved the music here, too - set the mood nicely. SF
Awesome location! Great flying too, glad you were able to salvage the footage! Yea, the part about losing it in a river or lake is what worries me the most.. but hey, all part of the fun right! -ps. this is coming from a guy who hasnt even been able to get airborne yet with his quad.. LoL!!
Indeed JB! I'm happy I got some footage, though I should have stopped at the 2nd flight when my camera mount lost a nut/bolt. I taped and wired it together on the spot, but it was still loose enough to transfer a lot of jello. I had so many shots ruined by jello. What you see here is the best that survived, but I still see a lot of jello I don't like. If I would have just gone home...
Hi Genny, thank you and no I didn't make the music. I buy a lot of royalty free stuff from Footage Firm. Many collections go for 9 bucks for about 10-12 tunes at full length, 30, 60, and sometimes stingers. Great for my TV ads and stuff like this. Hey check out my most recent video about losing my quad in the river right after all this was shot. It's an entertaining journey with a happy ending. Cheers!
The live feed was crystal clear. I lost it though when the quad went behind the big rock as it lost power. That's why I couldn't tell exactly where it went in the water.
Great footage and great music choice. Can you tell me how you get your music please? Also if you''re using FPV do you recommend a separate camera for flying and one for filming?
The key is not having anything solid (metal or zip tie) connecting the camera mount to the frame. Screws carry vibration. If you can put gel in the mount everywhere the camera touches, it may help. Research solutions on various forums. People are working on it, but out of the box you'll have a little jello machine.
ESC's are burned, or at least one is. I tried to power up after cleaning out the motors, and I got the beep song, then on the last beep I got a smoking ESC. So there's 200.00. I hope the board and Tx receiver are fine.
Thanks man! This video came at a great price! Watch my "Moonstone Beach - Aerial Aftermath of the FPV Disaster" video to learn the trouble I went through on this day. My birthday no less!
You are wright, I used two pieces of foam, cut from a bigger thing. in Germany called as swimm-noodle and mostly used for childres fun and aqua-gymnastics.
The file cuts off 15 seconds before the crash... I'm happy my GoPro and fpv transmitter lived. I need new ESCs, and that's about it after 2 hours in the water!
Ok, I'll hopefully have something posted late tonight or early tomorrow. It was raining out so I did an indoor flight to test the Jello. I crashed it within 5 min.
Everyone is excited about the DJI Phantom, but it's a jello machine. Everything I've seen from that quad is full of jello. I wanted it to be rad, but it's not there yet. People are experimenting with gel around the camera, but there is no solution yet. When you find a customer not affiliated with DJI who puts out a Phantom video with no jello, find out how they did it. So far there are no customer videos with no jello. You get what you pay for. Don't trust company videos. Trust the average user.

Nice video Chad. Glad you were able to recover and restore your craft.
Nice video and nicely edited Chad. Hope to get some beach footage soon as well. Remember that Murphy loves water !
I lived about from there and am returning next week! Nice work....
Thanks! I have a better Moonstone Beach video here: th-cam.com/video/0CdtOhOfy1c/w-d-xo.html
Great to hear the GoPro works! Nice video Chad
AWESOME footage!!!
Thanks! Check my "Aerial Video" playlist. My latest videos look a lot better now that I have a gimbal and a better camera. Cheers.

Amazing, just want i needed from a long day at the office!
GORGEOUS, and such smooth footage. That's incredible. I love the music as well; did you make it?
I was wondering why that thing could cost $2000. Now I know why.
simply wonderful footage.
thanks !
Thanks! First real test with the GoPro Hero3.
Chad! Killer footage man. EPIC!
Very very nice. Peaceful

Great video and nice location!
I just watched that! I cringed! I'm so glad you were able to retrieve...what a nightmare to have it fall into a river.
You should use float gauges like me, if you're going over water. Great footage and music
Glad you liked it!

Wow that is sick. Just out of curiosity did u have a live feed well the quad was under water? I'm glad most of it survived.
Hey Chad, Have you seen the DJI Phantom? Looking at this to just to small cameras like the GoPro.
What! No crash footage?
Nice pic's though, shame about the expense mate!
Happy birthday for the other day ;)

How do you use a float gauge? Wouldn't foam be more practical?

Beautiful, thank you my friend......
Thanks! I have a lot more in my Aerial Video Playlist. Cheers.
we went to the moonstone grill. it was expensive but worth it. moonstone beach is nice I loved it there. and I only live two hours away
This is amazing! :)

Is this lens corrected in MBL?
What was the live feed like
Yikes. I just ordered one. I'll try with my hero3@60FPS or my Sony with steady shot, if I can figure a way to mount it.
Yes, I set the fisheye tool to -20.
Thanks mon!

Chad, what camera gimbal are you using ?? - nice vid :-)
I usually never fly over water, but this day was my birthday, and I hoped the universe would cut me a break. At least I got it back...
The file cuts off 15 seconds before the crash... I'm happy my GoPro and fpv transmitter lived. I need new ESCs, and that's about it after 2 hours in the water!

I would have shown it, but the file was corrupt. I got everything up to 15 sec before the crash - sadly.
The file with the crash cuts off 15 seconds before I crashed. Bummer, but at least I got my stuff back!
That's a rough B-day
I buy music at Footage Firm. For FPV the GoPro both records, and provides the video feed. Look for my vid, "How to Hack Your GoPro Hero3 for FPV".
Can't seem to post a video response. It's my latest uploaded video. Let me know what you think.
I also want crash footage ...

I need to approve video responses, so it won't show up until I get the message. I didn't see anything in my inbox.
