The lyrics to this song are literally about thirty years ahead of their time. We're living in a world where digital media is part of our lives in a way that almost nobody would have guessed or predicted. Some people are ahead of that curve and lots of us are still only just catching on. I don't think I'm wrong when I say nowadays we're living in a world where the relavence of that on a psychological and philosophical level, can't be overstated. Those in the know tend to be either exploiting or trying to warn. It's like we are living in a world of "influencers" and "followers". Will it ever be the same again?
Anonymous tweet? Nope, I came back here as I always do from time to time because I've loved both Leftfield and Toni Halliday from Curve's work since 1992 when I was 19. It's all about the music for me!
When I got to know this piece around me, my misunderstanding, depression and feeling guilty to be in another world, I wrote then "pain is my everyday life, nonsense is normal in pain we are born and we die in pain" but music gave me life so that I could continue to live ... ...
Because most of the public were too busy arguing about Blur vs Oasis (both shit IMO) and All Saints vs The fucking Spice Girls around this time, and only a few 'in the know' people were listening to stuff like this (comparatively speaking) - I was knee deep in Goa/Psytrance when this came out (I still am to be fair) and I loved this album. Lying with my girlfriend after the parties/clubs with a fat J and slowly coming back to Earth........
To be fair Leftfield did have a fair old following back then. Not as huge as Oasis or Blur and all of that, but Leftism did strike a chord with a lot of people, myself included. I was in my early 20's when it came out and was really broadening my horizons musically back then and was listening to all sorts from Napalm Death to the Aphex Twin to Lee Scratch Perry. Leftism was just incredible though. Still sounds relevant today in this Godawful year of 2020.
Yo también pensaba que iban a ser el futuro, imaginaba música de éste estilo, pero por desgracia no fue así y el regueton, el trap y los ritmos latinos de mala calidad han ganado la batalla, que lástima la verdad...
I was 10 or 11 when this came out and my mother absolutely loved this album. As I grew up I went in the direction of rock, heavy metal and beyond, but after she passed away in 2012 I gradually checked out more of the music she was into. Needless to say, Leftfield - in particular 'Leftism', blew me away. Incredible record I somehow missed as I was into 90's dance/rave/house/electro as a teenager, the opening four lines of this song are an incredible earworm. I could immerse myself in this all day.
How can this be 25 years old? I have such fond (if slightly fuzzy) memories of this as one of my university anthems. The amount of floors I've been crashed out on getting lost listening to this...
This is totally divine. This track really got me into Leftfield and other UK electronica and trip hop acts like Massive Attack, Portishead, Unkle, Sneaker Pimps, Tricky, Red Snapper, Allflaws
I went to see Leftfield for the 2nd time, I was 5 months pregnant with my last baby, who grew up to be a beautiful chilled and loving son. Before anyone says anything, I ordered the tix before I fell pregnant, and after arrival my ex and his mates dropped pills and left me to look after their coats. I don't put up with bullshit and 'lost' their property, some of it in the toilet (oops). The bonus was that a security guard took pity on me so he let me up on the balcony where wives, and girlfriends, and anyone else personally connected to the band sat. I was so glad for that gesture. It turned out what was a shitty time, magically transformed into a glorious evening. I was able to dance without fear of anyone barging into me. I went to see so many bands whilst pregnant, and my seemed to love this, and today he is a Leftfield fan. It was a fantastic evening that could have been shit..
Babies in the womb pick up on vibration and love music. My ex wife and I went to a metal concert when she was 7 months in... the health advisor said as long as you're not on the stage floor, it's perfectly healthy... my daughter, now 5 years old loves music!
I'm here because I'm just floating from tune to tune, sometimes I choose, sometimes I follow the up next and just find stuff. I found this after Open Up. It's awesome.
Making replay and replay having many cds, anytime your song, your voice and music have taken my body, spirit and soul... You're washing my poor soul... thanks a lot !!!

Tim Simeon just being the coolest ‘not in the spotlight at all’ person in the world. So dope. Even when he’s chilling hes cool. He is a British institution of Cool Britannia before the term was even invented 👍🏻
I remember listening to this in the mid 90s going up on the motorway to London in my new old Daimler Sovereign series 2 doing some speed, letting the Jaguar roar.
My first child my son was born when this first came out. He's now 23 and I've gotten him into a lot of great music that I listen to. For some reason the only leftfield track he knew was release the pressure. Thankfully I've opened his eyes his mind and his future by playing leftism in my car when I take him to and from football. I'm 50 yrs old now and I've got some great music from me being very young all the way up until 90's. Then it just stopped, the only music that I listened to after 2 thousand is from bands that were formed in the early to mid 90's or before that. Its a sad time for music in general now all we get is manufactured pop crap. We've started doing the same crap as they've been doing in America for decades. Why do we copy anything whatsoever from that country ill never know as we've always done a lot better ourselves.

Yeah man, Was living in Western Australia, and left everything and went to Melbourne for 20 years playing music. The 90's was when we hit it. We had never seen anything like it before. The first night we were there we all dropped acid. Man, no one would believe that night. Helicopters with spotlights, crazy people, adrenaline. It was amazing. The 90's was an intense time of cool and originality. All waiting for 2000 to turn over and the world descend into computer bug chaos. The internet was amazing, so was the internet art, warez from radium, uwwwb, and it's endless. At times it was like the dark web was on the surface. Not to mention bubba zenetti's wild leech ranch. This music takes me to a time. In a sense, it was the MDMA time.
@@jibbajabba4712 You've misunderstood what Mandie is saying. It's sinful to be an individual, conformity is what is applauded. But....in today's world of double speak, conformity is disguised as individuality. So you're encouraged to have your own opinion, and people will applaud it with "likes"......just as long as it's in agreement with everyone else's. Good luck to anyone who relies on their public image for a living to voice an opinion of their own.
Parawata knows how it works. The media's fake laddishness and staged spontaneity is one of the recent innovations that those with a soul could really do without. I congratulate you both on maintaining your sanity and reason - I truly mean this by the way
TUNE!!!!! forgotten how good this track is, Old skool 90's...bringing back the good times lol. whoop whoop! Now where did i put those old cassettes lol.
2024 and it still never fails to impress! What an era!
A soundtrack for those of us living in the mid to late 90s. A great time for music, Massive Attack, Underworld, Leftfield.
Boards of Canada
Leftfield @ Glastonbury 2000 was probably the best live act I've ever experienced
Early 1990s is when they started to release music
All of those were also a blast live
Glad i survived. A decade and more of great music.
Can we just go back to the 90's again and appreciate how wonderful the music was!!!! OMG there was so much good stuff!!!!
I'm in...... packed and ready to go..... 😄
Zeus your God?
If you've got the DeLorean I'm game.
Could be nice, but like Rick Sanchez I don't do time travel.
Welcome to the year 2021. Leftfield still sounds incredible
No evidence of a soul whatsoever fellow primates

Stunning track, good memories
Editing and super grooves, like in the the old days of yellow& Kraftwerk and i feel love modoror.
This album defined the decade.....
Still gives me goosebumps after all these years!
It really does give you Goosebumps , Special Tune.
Album is 21 years old and still doesn't sound dated. Massive
it sounds dated as shit lol
I think it does sound dated but still is really awesome. Original, Song of Life or Open Up = classics
@ Francis Pilgrim - How? Because it doesn't have nursery-rhyme simplicity and doesn't run at 180 MethheadBPM?
Ok, Pilgrim, tell us where it's at?
goes around comes around
Tunes that make you wonder why they weren't more popular. This album was amazing and still sounds awesome.

As fresh today (may 2020) as it was bk in '95. This Massive Attack, Portishead, Goldie, Bjork, we were spoilt for great bands!
my late brother used to tell me this song was about me..,.....god I miss him ❤️. (still original)

I can't believe this song came out in 1995. It's so different and futuristic.
Best track on the Leftism album.Beautiful!
This was an epic track. Here we are 24 years later and still sounds mind blowingly good.
I first heard this track at tribal gathering 1995 :) blazing hot afternoon, can't remember which tent though......

so far ahead of it's time, the whole album, proper original
If you think so you don't know anything about that time.
