It is thought dome homes would fare better in a tornado as the rounded edges would allow the air to pass over without corners. The homes are more aerodynamic.

actually they are called "monolithic domes" and they are supposed to be extremely energy effeicient, "disaster proof", and cheaper to to build that a standard house

BaseballBetsy those are monolithicdomes.... thin shelled concrete insulated structures... not yurts. they are disaster proof for the most part... the place that he drove past was a town called Italy Texas. I know all this because I am a graduate of that school and a certified dome builder.

My wife says they use balloons to build those homes. Cover a giant balloon with concrete, let dry, then deflate.
Science fact: The dome is the best tornado proof structure. The high speed air cannot get underneath it to over turn it or tear off the roof since the roof goes to the ground.

Adam you need to back in Halloween Munster House next year, you will not be disappointed. The inside of the house is so detail that we had to go through the house numerous times to see everything.
They did dome homes to test how tornadoes affected them. To see if safer than normal wood frame homes.

We go by that spaceship quite often in our rig and I always wondered what it looked like on the inside. The Munster house replica was awesome...they did a great job of recreating it.
Since we go to Texas so often I've become interested in the JFK legend, and the book depository area is on our "to do" list if we do get some downtime around Dalllas.

You know, the fact that Adam gets so excited about how gas pumps can "pump themselves" is a great Life Lesson. You should always look at the world with wonder and amazement. I'm not sure where I read it (although, I'm sure it's a pretty common theme among various different creeds and philosophies), but finding joy and amazement in the mundane is a great way to live one's life. I remember a house either around Gulf Shores, Alabama, or along the panhandle of Florida that was built as a dome which made it more impervious to damage by hurricanes.

Hey Adam, not sure how long your gonna be in dallas but I would NOT recommend parking at any of the truck stops around dallas at night especially the TA! Theres been alot of valdals and breakins at the truckstops.

The spaceship makes no sense..it's shaped like the original enterprise but is named the pegasus, the pegasus was from a tng episode called the pegasus and it did not look like that ship...weird.

Maybe it was Jim Henson's "The Dark Crystal". Aughra the wise woman, who lived in an observatory on a high hill. She took out her eyeball to look at Jen the Gelfling, when he was caught by those dangling vines in the patch of land anemones.

about Waxahachie - you have to really go to the old part of town to find this area - the newer parts are the same as any modern stops along the highway. Parts of these old towns are hard to find today because of "progress".

Interesting fact about Star Trek that might appease you Adam. In 1984 Star Trek 3 The Search For Spock Christopher Lloyd was the antagonist and the crew of the Enterprise steals his bird of prey and then in 1986 that same bird of prey is used as a time machine in Star Trek 4 The Voyage Home which means the crew of the Enterprise used a vehicle owned by Christopher Lloyd to travel through time.

The "real" Munsters house still exists on the Universal back lot. It was redressed several times and appeared in shows like "Adam-12" and was even one of the homes of "Wisteria Lane" in "Desperate Housewives".
Adam, it's Disney's Hercules where the "witches" of sorts were able to remove their eyeball. Hades was voiced by none other than James Woods. Danny Devito as "Phil" the Sadder.

That is a good trick, blowing the heat for 20 minutes with your system switch set to normal a/c. At your age I would think you would know that vent is for heat and A/C is for air conditioning.
