Love the palet knife and really nice with the oil in a small bottle - I will have to find a bottle like that and the freezer paper as a palet. And I really like your method just filling the big forms and values and not going for accuracy .
I agree-- filling out the big shapes first is a great way to get started! That way there's less pressure to find "perfection" in the first few minutes :) - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
Its my second time on a live stream but unfortunately I cannot get in and find the brush icon. And I totally agree that it is a good idea to use classical and more somatic methods at the same time. Sometimes it can be very freeing to start with the somatic ( bodily methods) and I admit that I definitely prefer to paint and mix at the same time as a process of moving into the feel of the total painting and I am very attracted to transparency e.g. The Danish-Turkish artist Bodil Ørs she paints some amazing landscapes in color that really works with the oppositions of warm and cool and opaqueness and transparent - and they really glow with a mysterious light coming from behind
I am very paranoid about using oils also. I am never sure how to properly dispose of my dirty oil (I like your squirt bottle idea) and how to safely dispose of/clean my rags. Any tips?
Solvents, etc. that are toxic have to be taken to household hazardous waste, your town probably has a drop off every 6 months, and some towns allow you to bring it to the dump. Oily rags have to be stored in a fire safe container if they are in your house. -Prof Lieu
im really strugglin right now, i decided to paint with acrylics and acrylic medium but is so liquidy, definitily a bad idea. I´ll keep going tho. I always learn so much from this tutorials
