I'm sooo excited to watch this series! Last year I bought Winsor Newton water mixable oils because I found them at 70% off. I've never used oils before and other than a couple cherries I painted when I first bought them...I haven't touched them since. I don't even know why because I really enjoyed the medium. I think this series is going to get me inspired! Thumbnails...yes! I'm soo gonna practice! Thank you! Toni
I love that prof Lieu took an entire hour to work out thumbnail sketches. I always neglect this step especially with still life paintings but I see how important it can be
It's SO important! I don't think many people give themselves enough time to flesh out thumbnail sketches-- it's like there's pressure to get to the end result as quick as possible. Spending the time is so worth it! - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
I live in Salt Lake City and hope to run into you someday. You are such a good artist and teacher. I love your thumbnail sketches. I would buy one! You share your gift of process and I am so grateful.
More insights from watching this and doing some sketching for greeting cards and then sculpting a head all the while 😂 I just love to listen to your thoughts on art and the artists being, it helps so much ❤️👍👍👍 BTW I do learn a lot from watching some watercolor paintings, even some that are high speed bc I get some technique hints..
We're so glad you like our videos! It's sort of like a ton of artists are all drawing together, even though it's online. It's super encouraging to have a community like this-- thanks for watching :) - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
I never watch these live but I always have responses to some of the comment 😂 I really love speed paintings where they really show their process and talk about their process and struggles they had. I also love ones that don’t speed up the painting process but just skip ahead small amounts so it’s not as long but you still get to see how slow they actually are painting.
Call me weird but when I looked up from my own drawing I saw a face stuffed with grapes top left. Too bad I can't send you my sketch! But that's me being a divergent dyslexic.

I am learning from your videos. Thank you for stepping out on the tight wire and showing us your thinking self!
You are so welcome! We're so happy you're tuning in :) - Mia, Art Prof Staff

Before I found Art Prof I thought still life was rather boring but you are making it fun!
It's all about how you look at it! - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff

I agree! I've learned so much from speedpaints in particular, I find it so helpful to watch the process :) - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
I love the gradients, just superb!🤗
Thank you! :) - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
There actually are varieties of huge grapes, like red globe grapes! Soooo much crunchy grapey goodness.
Ooh, those sound awesome! - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
Yummy

Haha, that's such an interesting way to see it though! Thanks for drawing with us :) - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
Clara, Spray the back of the canvas with water…it will tighten
Ooh great tip! Thanks :D - Mia, Art Prof Staff
