    I think that there should be a soap opera about how yngwie left dimarzio for seymour duncan... The beginning of the video makes it sound as though he made some kind of contract with Lucifer at the Namm show

    @centaurus5676 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Yngwie threw a Dimarzio HS 3 at Thomas Jefferson [the interviewer] and said ''make me one of those and label it Seymour Duncan''...and give me 25% of the sales...love malmsteen interviews!

    Why is Everyone Making such a Big Deal with Yngwie Switching pickups ! He has to make a Living and He is a Music Impire. The Music Indusry is a Business. I have never know a Guitarist that Gets Hated on for Everything that he Does. Leave Yngwie Alone He is a LEGEND and doesn't have to Prove anything to anyone.

    • @douglasnisbet1189
      @douglasnisbet1189 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Probably because he spent 25 years saying dimarzio were the best. He even had a signature pickup with them. He has said many times he will only endorse products that he believes in 100%. Now he is saying that Dimarzio are shit. That is why people find his move a bit strange. Also a bit odd that the Black Star playing in the background to this video was recorded with his Dimarzio pickups. If they're that bad, why would Yngwie allow that?

    • @jeshely
      @jeshely 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@douglasnisbet1189 exactly! One thing is to say, I like this one more now because XYZ and another to basically trash the pickup that was integral to your sound for over 2 decades.

    For those that are complaining that his tone was better on the 1st 4 albums, let me tell you this: Listening to the albums, I agree whole-heartedly. However, the latest few albums don't sound bad because of his guitar pickups or tone, they sound bad because too much compression was used for the over-all sound of the whole band in the studio recording. I attended his concert this year in Ventura, Ca and can tell you that live, with the YJM Fury pickups...the tone was sublime. Absolutely clean and beautiful just like or even better than the DiMarzio's. I know, because I have all of his albums and I have a version of the YJM Strat with the DiMarzio's.

      but have you tried the Duncans ? i just tried the Dimarzios and they are good , but i'm very curious about the new pickups ... i think too that he's sound in the new albums is shit , but as you said , it could be due to poor production ...

    • @plaidman67
      @plaidman67 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MAX CASH Hi Max...I haven't personally tried the Duncans but I've heard them in use, live by the master himself at 3 concerts. They sound tremendous!

  • @longwhip
    @longwhip 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Dimarizio's ALWAYS sound compressed in a weird way, almost plastic, fake or contrived. Seymour built me two custom sets one for my Gary Smalley strat and one set of one off JB and Jazz for my 10 pound Les Paul and I have not used any other pickups for over twenty-five years. Seymours pickups and work ethic is what making music and understanding artists needs are about!

  • @dsvet
    @dsvet 12 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    YJM isn't egotistical or arrogant, he's just confident in what he knows and what he can do. Many people said the same about Bruce Lee being cocky and arrogant. No he just was confident same with Yngwie. Both artist who are masters of their craft.

  • @SantomPh

  • @CHAINDRIVENOFFICIAL
    @CHAINDRIVENOFFICIAL 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had the Dimarzio YJM pickups in my strat. You need an overdrive pedal for them to rock & also a noise gate. The fact that his new pickups are hum canceling sounds like an improvement. I have Duncan's & DiMarzios in my Guitars. They are both good it is just a matter of picking what is right for you as a player. Yngwie Rocks!

  • @CS_Murphy_R9
    @CS_Murphy_R9 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    MY favorite part is at 1:22, i totally get what he is saying there!
    A pickup for me has to not only have a great tone but the way it "responds" to my playing is even more important! I found that only with dimarzio's or boutque handwounds like MHD pickups.
    It is a feel thing that way the pickup tracks fast playing. dimarzio has that down IMHO!
    the Air Zone/Air Norton set is my favorite. does everything i tell it to...

    • @angusorvid8840
      @angusorvid8840 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's been the main thing I've loved about DiMarzio since I've been using them, which began way back around '86. I noticed right away that they tracked way better, the response, the cut-thru. With the exception of very few Duncans, I find they generally do not have the responsive performance of DiMarzios.

  • @TheAxe4Ever

    @Liturgyofwar I've heard the pickups in person. My best friend (who is a Malmsteen FREAK) installed them in his strat, replacing the Dimarzio YJM pickups. He has since put the Dimarzio's back in. Although I think these are the best sounding single coils SD makes, to my ears, they lack the punch of the DiMarzio YJM's. Personally, I've always prefered the sound of DiMarzio pickups compared to SD's. Of course as you know, tone is subjective. What's one man's trash, is another man's treasure.

    @zakk1983tdm dude yngwie is always evolving and he becomes greater the older he gets !! Don't doubt about him , he is the greatest guitarist ever !! when he was with alcatraz he was a 21 year old kid , he is 47 now , do really expect he would sound exactly the same ??? ofcourse not !! that would be unnatural, but what is great about yngwie is that he does whatever the fuck he wants !!

  • @wonnie
    @wonnie 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    i was actually quite surprised to see he wasn't with dimarzio anymore. i love the Hs-3 and YJM pick ups and they produce such a nice tone and sound. it was hard to believe that he chose to move to seymour duncan because of probably money. it just goes to show what money can do. but funny thing is that he still plays exclusively hs-3 and yjm pick ups by dimarzio right now from what i hear.

    Agree! that tone is dimarzio and so much better than the newer duncan fury's
    as matter of fact YJM was using the dimarzio FS-1 fat strat pu's back then with steeler and alcatrazz, he went to the HS3 later.

    These pickups sound Really good, but there's many people that is very "familiarized" with the sound of Yngwie in his very first albums. They use to call it "The Dimarzio Era". It was a kind of perfect combination between composition, technique and the tone of those Dmz's... that made that happen.

    Go with small dog companies like Lindy Fralin. They're not mass produced and you can specify a slight over, or underwind to get the tone you're looking for. I went with the blues Specials and they sound fantastic. I was looking for a slightly flatter tone without the piercing highs, but they still have all these beautiful harmonics popping out no matter where your guitars volume knob is.

    Well all his iconic albums and songs that his fans know and loved were recorded with dimarzios....nice quiet pickups that suck up even loads of distortion like sponge without mudding the sound.The Hs are very musical pickups,ask Eric Johnson...you can cut through the mix without blur and muddiness....i dont know how great those new SDs are but personally wherever i find an Hs3 and even an Hs4 or Hs2....second hand ill snatch them in a hurry....
