This is voice to text so I make no promises about punctuation or grammar or spelling! Anyway, this has been my life, just sabotaging myself with a combination of stress and doubt. I have struggled with consistency. I have struggle with emotional eating. Your videos are helping me so much because I listen on my way to work and for some reason, I am able to be consistent and taking your advice! I feel better although I am stuck at 242 for a couple of weeks now. But, I am trying to be positive, trusting how much better I feel, my clothes fit better, and I know that it it’s just going to take time. Thank you, Dr. Ashley for all your amazing advice, right now you’re keeping me going and I appreciate it so much!
Thank you so much for sharing and I'm so glad you're finding the content valuable and helpful. My goal is to be able to empower as many people as possible!
I learned something valuable in your podcast. It seems every bit as bad to beat yourself up over your mistakes as it is to make up excuses for your mistakes.
I needed to hear this. I've been trying to lose 10 lbs for over a year. I've definitely been struggling with an all or nothing mindset, and I'm definitely a perfectionist by nature. I really appreciated the life examples. I'm trying to do the small habits thing. Also, i find it hard to eat healthy when i'm out of my routine. I do allow myself now yo have a celebratory meal or two each week. Just a meal, not the WHOLE DAY! It helps if tge meal is the last meal of the day, so i don't continue all day long.
My "all" was loosing the weight. It was easy. But now comes Maintenance. I am adding things in that I haven't eaten for the last few months. To me, that is very difficult. It was easier to cut out the "all" How to overcome? Keep on keeping on!
I just started maintenance and in order not to get too overwhelmed I’m just taking it slow….testing carb tolerance while upping protein a bit. So far so good. Hang in there!
This is common for a lot of people, especially those who trend toward an "all or nothing" mindset. It's about learning to live in the gray zone... There is no rush in introducing things back. You really don't NEED anything of the things you let go of. Start small, go slow, and monitor how the foods make you feel. Experiencing hunger and cravings? Then you may not be ready for that food quite yet, or may be eating above your unique carb tolerance level.
The problem is that in order to make significant progress in weight loss, you do need to pretty much give up eating your celebratory food forever. This is where the all or nothing mindset comes from. The gray area doesn't work. There's no winning. You can EITHER lose the weight you need to lose OR enjoy the celebratory times with family and eat what makes it celebratory.
I believe there is another way to this! There is a process of letting go for sure- letting go of the foods you say you love that don't love you back. And there is a way to enjoy some of those foods once in a while with moderation SHOULD your body and mind be able to do that.
Don't you ever get a sugar craving, for example? I find that even if I fill myself with a protein packed meal, I still end up feeling a lack of satiety, and it's due to wanting something different than what I've been eating - something like a piece of fruit or a cookie or a bag of chips. 😂
The New Kids On The Block had a song called Step by Step. Singing this song helps me laugh at myself during setbacks and understand that long term changes are never linear. Incremental growth takes time, it’s the way nature grows trees.

I like to reward myself with things instead of food❤ new hairstyle or purse shoes NICE!!!
Great video, and so true.
Glad you think so! Thanks for tuning in.
The Keto/Carnivore diet makes you feel like you have to be perfect, at least to me anyway.
I can see how you feel this way. Perfectionism can definitely sabotage progress.
Thanks for a great video!
Thanks for watching!

Love that! So very true- when we follow the course of nature, we find harmony.
Rome was not built in a day....one step at a time and stay positive.
That's right!
