Agreed. I drove ex-police package Caprices when I drove for the taxi company and I thought they were good looking. It was also possible to stuff a ton of stuff into one of them and the styling gave them a lot of room inside. It's outside looks, but the police spec engines and suspension made these cars surprisingly quick and agile, especially for their size. The steering was very good too, if a little numb, whereas the Fords and Lincoln Town Cars I drove were not so precise. They were better cars than this list suggests.
I think the 90s Caprice was appreciated more in hindsight. When it first came out, it was subject to ridicule (although it was named Car of the Year by Motor Trend, which many readers of the magazine, including myself, simply could not believe; we assumed Motor Trend must have received a big, fat check from GM for that endorsement). But then you had the SS model, police started using it, and people started to appreciate the Caprice's sheer size and how anachronistic (and bold) it was for GM to release a car the size of a 70s land yacht at the start of the 90s. Myself, if I had the money, I'd love to own a 90s Caprice SS or Buick Roadmaster.
The svx was a cool car My ugly car for the 90s was the Sonata from 97 to 99. The 90-93 Sonata wasn’t as ugly, but it looked like a cheap Honda Accord. The 1995 looked great, and I remembered Charles Barkley appearing in a commercial in 1994 promoting that car. If I am correct, the 1997-1999 Sonata, looked a lot different for the worse. It wasn’t until 2002, when they changed the body, to where it looked nice, kind of like a Jaguar. Almost purchased a 2002 when it debuted, but luckily I didn’t, because I heard they were extremely unreliable.
Like them all, especially the SHO version of the Taurus pre 1996. The 1996 was definitely ugly. Today’s cars all look horrible, especially the new Acuras with the new grill and the new Lexus’
It's been said that *"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".* What some might find hideous to look at to some people, might be beautiful to other people.
@@ThisOldCarChannel Here are some of my favourite vehicles on the list, cars I find quite attractive and some unattractive: the Australian designed *Mercury Capri,* I found attractive, I also loved the *Lumina* 4 door sedan, and *APV,* at the time, I saw the Imperial and I was like *"What?!"* Overall, I found the car attractive, but I found the front end hideous. I've never liked the Cadillac of the 1990s. My least favourite were the *Sedan DeVille* and *Fleetwood.* I remember when the *Chrysler K Car* was introduced. I found them to be *"fugly"* as hell to look at. I don't know what Lee Iacocca was thinking in introducing the cars. I loved the *1991 Chevy Caprice* and *Caprice Classic.* I found it way more attractive than the previous generations of Caprice and Caprice Classic, which I knew was *long overdue* for physical and appearance upgrade. I loved *Subaru's SVX.* I was disappointed when it was discontinued when it was. I found it way more attractive than the *XT* of the 1980s. I also love the *1994 Ford Mustang.* I loved the Faux Bodied Mustang of the 1980s, but even that needed to be updated, and this was long overdue. I thought it was the best looking Mustang since the Mustang II and the 1965 Mustang. I agree with you with regards to the *90s Buick Riviera.* It's the worst looking car I'd seen Buick offered. Whoever designed that hideous thing should have his head looked at. The same goes for the Monte Carlo. The same goes for whoever redesigned the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable. I found them both worse than hideous. Although I've never driven a *Cadillac Catera,* I actually found it quite attractive. Why it was so hated much is beyond me. So it was an American badged Opel, so fucking what? What was it that made it a hated car? I thought it was way better looking than other cars Cadillac was offering at the time. Cadillac didn't do any favours since then. I used to love *Porsches' 911,* but what the hell was Porsche thinking when they designed this hideous monster on this list?
I will admit that I like the boxy styling of the 77-90 Caprice better. But the 91-96 aren't ugly. Although I may be biased since I drive a 96 Buick Roadmaster sedan which is pretty much the same thing
The first few years with the rear wheels partially covered wasn't great looking, kinda liked like a sea lion. But when they cleaned up the rear window and rear wheel doghouse, looked miles better
@@ThisOldCarChannel these cars are beautiful, in your other videos you said minivans were replaced by "Better looking" 2010s era suvs, you mean the ugly blocks that look like they were designed to run people over? minivans rule, most 90s cars do

70's right what muscle era came to a end Brown and just hideous styling everywhere. Almost a complete contradiction from the previous era in my opinion.
1990-93 Chrysler Imperial was one awful car. Fuel injection system was problemsome, anti lock brake system was horrible, and the suspension was very soft. Some people still believe this was nice!
The Catera was a sub-par car for lots of reasons, but its looks weren't one of them. It wasn't a great looking car, but it wasn't bad looking either. If it had been thought out better, the Omega would have made a decent entry level Cadillac, certainly better than the gussied up Cavalier made into the Cimarron. As for the styling, the CTS looks far worse than the Catera to me; the disjointed juxtaposition of its desperate parts makes it look like a failed refugee from Blade Runner. Abandoning actual names for alphanumeric designators a la the German cars they want to emulate didn't help. Why hasn't he Escalade ever become something like the ESE?
Can't say I agree with several of your choices and quite frankly, I am appalled at your ageism! Do you really think that people in their 40's, 50's, etc. will never reach 60, 70 or beyond? The snarky comments about people 75 and up are totally unnecessary. As far as the cars go, I have to agree with some, like the Taurus, but many of the others are just boring, but not particularly ugly, in my opinion. Styling is subjective. Fortunately, we don't all like or hate the same thing. I found the 1994 Mustang attractive, although the following generation was outstanding. I also thought the final generation of the Buick Riviera was magnificent. Oh wait, I've just reached 70. Must be time to pack me off to the boneyard or some kind of extermination ceremony as in Logan's Run.

All these cars just look bland. I dont like 90s cars. But I really dont see how most of these look any uglier than any other car from the era. The Taurus deserves a place I guess? The 911 doesn't look that good tbh. But again. They all look just like every other 90s car.
I think they missed a few. Pontiac Aztec, Pontiac Lemans, Geo Metro, Geo Tracker, Pontiac Montana, Ford Aspire, Festiva and Escort. I know I’ve missed many as well but my list was just off the top of my head.
I liked the newly redesigned 1994 Mustang and it was also a best seller for Ford. A major improvement in style over the outdated 1970's style of the prior year. However, I can't believe you left off the redesigned 1999 Hyundai Tiburon also known as the "Tiburon Turbulence" ------- It was soooo ugly. How ugly was it? ------ It was so ugly, that when you saw it driving down the road, you couldn't tell whether it was coming or going. 🤭
I thought the Riviera was decent looking. The 94 Mustang wasn’t bad, though i much preferred the 93 I owned. Most of these others, though, i agree. The Taurus was horrible and the GM cars here other than the Buick were blobs that helped destroy once great GM
The 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial is a car that I would love to have. My mother use to own the 1993 Dodge Dynasty. The Imperial was a stretched version of that car. I would like to find one to own.
I have a 1999 Buick Riviera. I have 144k miles on it and have had no major problems. The engine is bulletproof. I have driven through mountainous regions, and always had enough power to pass with the supercharger. I owner a Cadillac DTS later and I still prefer the Riviera. I still have it.
The SVX was indeed strange. However, the only slightly* confused Giorgetto Giugiaro- designed GT *shouldn't* be on this list! Regular Car Reviews released a video of a clean, comely deep purple/burgundy example actually showing the vehicle "in the round" (ie: in video!)
haha! Thanks for the funny comment and your opinion. That's what this channel is all about. Thanks for watching and the comment. We hope you are a subscriber.
The pendulum- swing to rounded soap bar styling last seen in the 50's hit an especially globular note in the 1990's. There were hits, and many of the misses are listed here whenever I am in the mood to hate on something.
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The car on this list I found ugly is the 1996-1999 Ford Taurus. The other vehicles may have had their reliability issues, but they weren't ugly.
LOL! Loved this list! I was a kid in JR High and High School during these days and this is pretty much a list of the cars you didn't want to be seen getting picked up from school in. Also on this list would have been the Pontiac Trans Sport or the 1994 Chevrolet Camaro. My friends used to say they looked like "big ass Geos". Not that I took it personal because they were making fun of my mom's car or anything.
Haha my first car was a 1990 Lumina. She was ugly but a great tank of a vehicle. I loved her until an F150 killed her. Loved that car. Also I loved the 1995 Ford Taurus. 🤷♂️
There were definitely some ugly cars in the 90s. They wanted to make them look rounded and aerodynamic, but a lot of them ended up just looking like giant blobs.
About the only ones I can agree with are that Chrysler Imperial, the Ford Taurus and the Cadillac Catera. I think the rest of the list was just for comedy's sake. The Caprice wasn't even close to ugly, the Mustang... eh, The Monte Carlo and the Lumina were both wildly popular cars and almost universally accepted, and the Porsche was getting a little long in the tooth, so a facelift was in order, which they got right since they managed to modernize it a little but they also made sure that everyone knew what it was at first glance. The Subaru was ok looking too; definitely not one of their best efforts, but definitely not ugly. There was one more that I don't remember, but I'll get to it later when I have a little more time.
One of the boldest Boca vids yet. Those Mustangs don’t hurt my feelings and wow a 911…. But the truth is, compared to other models of these cars… you’re right. I will say that I did see a mint version of that last gen Monte this summer and think it really wasn’t so bad.
My list goes like this: 1.1993 Toyota Previa: probably the ugliest minivan ever built 2. 1990 Toyota Celica looked like a Salvador Dali watch 3. 1993 Mazda Previa looked like a warped balloon 4. 1991 Mazda 323, Mazda made some nice looking cars in that decade, but this wasn’t one 5. 1990 Hyundai SCoupe tried to make a sports car out of an Excel 6. 1992 Subaru SVX video tells it all 7. 1993 Buick Riviera video tells it all 8. 1996 Ford Taurus 9. 1992 Oldsmobile Achieva probably one of the ugliest cars GM has ever built 10. 1995 Dodge Neon an ugly design. Honourable mention to 1992-94 Pontiac Grand Am, 1995 Buick Skylark, they were both ugly
The 90s fairly was, by and large and stylistically, the “bathtub era” of automotive design. It was, I think, dually about “aerodynamics” (also VERY surprised that this list omitted the Buick Riviera and its siblings as the epitome of this era) and a desire to differentiate stylings of cars versus the era’s (wildly popular) SUVs and pickups. Also stunned that this list omitted the PT Cruiser.
What kind of corporation has taken over TH-cam and is doing all of these awful top 10-15 lists? The 4th Mustang isn't ugly, nor is the Riviera. The Pontiac Aztec isn't on the list? @Boca Brothers Classic Car Review
I don't agree with some of these choices although I will say the Ford Taurus/ Mercury Sable '96 were ugly. And so was the Pontiac Aztec which i didn't see on the list etc
The Lumina, Imperial, Catera, Monte Carlo and Porsche 996 weren't really ugly, they were just ordinary. At least the Monte Carlo and Porsche had 2 doors, but a Porsche should not look ordinary. They still look better than almost all new cars. The 1991 Caprice, 1992 Subaru SVX, and1996 Taurus were indeed ugly. The 1994-2004 Mustangs were not ugly, they just weren't great looking. But they sure beat the hell out of the Foxbody. That has to be one of if not the ugliest car ever sold in the U.S. I kind of liked the Riviera. It was different, and it was a 2 door personal luxury car, my favorite type of car.
Except for the caprice and the taurus , I actually like every car in this video, even that Chrysler imperial, I remeber being 10 and sitting inside one I was like wow this feels so great and spacious
1995 Ford Scorpio, yes, the wide mouth frog version, it was only on sale for 3 years before it was cancelled, mostly due to it's styling. The egg shaped Renault Megane Scenic were also ugly, and unreliable judging by my own experience, another eggbowl was the Citroen Xsara Picasso, it looked excatly like an egg, from all angels. Ford Ka, small Ford european compact car would also make the list i think. The Opel Astra B that arrived in 1992 was not a looker either. Be happy these cars were not sold in the States :)
Some of these were cars I liked, but I won’t say which. I will say that at least the 1994 Mustang was not another ugly angular product of the Fox platform, and I totally agree the 1996 Taurus was an example of ovoid excess. As for the Imperial, Chrysler was more the engineer’s company than the stylist’s, wasn’t it?
I don't dislike the SN95 as well. The fox body Mustang doesn't look that bad! Especially the facelift! 👍 It depends on the version though. Some versions of the fox body platform might look "boring"...
Totally agree, except for the Lumina and Imperial... The Imp was exactly what it should've been, and the Lumina, for the time, was actually handsome...
I love my monte and by 1995 standards it was a very nice looking car as was the lumina that's why theys were so popular then! They out sold the "ugly" taurus.. which I personally liked the styling of aswell
Is it just me or are all of these cars actually fine? Like it could just be the fact that they’re getting cool now because of the era but honestly I don’t see an issue with any of these cars. They all look fantastic to me and most of them I actually do want.
None of these cars I think are ugly. I’m not saying these cars don’t have any other faults but design wasn’t one of them. I think the BMW E36 3-series was less attractive than any of these cars, despite being a better car than most on the list. Just never really liked the square headlight 3-Series Bimmer.
That 90’s caprice is a dope as car. You guys are wrong on that one!
Thanks for everyone's comments. That is what this channel is for. My brother and I like the comments!
I can't say I agree with this list, except for the Taurus. I never cared for that generation.
The '95 Taurus was really a disappointment style wise . Porsches's timeless classic froggy face will remain that no matter what

It says ' ugliest cars in the 1990s '. So yeah, why not the imports?
And why everything is all Americans?
That's almost misleading...
The SVX was indeed strange. However, the only slightly* confused Giorgetto Giugiaro- designed GT *shouldn't* be on this list! Regular Car Reviews released a video of a clean, comely deep purple/burgundy example actually showing the vehicle "in the round" (ie: in video!)
nah it's BAD, real bad looking
The imperial was a nice looking car. Wish they still made cars like that
Thanks for watching!
I don't know what they been smoking when they made this video but smoke after not during 🤔
haha! Thanks for the funny comment and your opinion. That's what this channel is all about. Thanks for watching and the comment. We hope you are a subscriber.
My brother from another mother you know I am. If we all love the same type of cars we would not have new and different cars that we all love 🤜🤛
i think catera is a good looking car, it is also not a bad car. but you are right, it is not a good example of a cadillac
The pendulum- swing to rounded soap bar styling last seen in the 50's hit an especially globular note in the 1990's. There were hits, and many of the misses are listed here whenever I am in the mood to hate on something.
i hear people calling 80s cars the ugly ones because they were too boxy and plain and they didnt look like the 70s and 60s and so on
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Actually I liked that series of buick, although all models were bigger and more wasteful than I would choose. The jelly bean effect didn't age well.
Haha my first car was a 1990 Lumina. She was ugly but a great tank of a vehicle. I loved her until an F150 killed her. Loved that car. Also I loved the 1995 Ford Taurus. 🤷♂️
1995 Taurus. yes!
The 92-95 Taurus has aged well and still looks good! Anyone who disagrees, I will fight you.
I would mostly agree BUT the 1990 Lumina Z34 (2 door) wasn't a bad looking car in my opinion. Shaped more like the Cutlass Supreme of the day.
Thanks for chiming in!
There should be a video about the ugly cars of the 2020s
How has nobody talked about the nova?
I think that Toyota Nova was gone by 1990
@@2500vtg no the Chevy Nova . A little 4 door aimed at the young buyers. I had a manager that had one. Late 80' early 90's
@@phillipbartlett1819 I was referring to the mid 80s Chevrolet Nova that was actually built by Toyota.
@@2500vtg oh I didn't know that. Cool, thanks for the education.
There were definitely some ugly cars in the 90s. They wanted to make them look rounded and aerodynamic, but a lot of them ended up just looking like giant blobs.
You forgot the 1993 Camaro, those look awful too
Thanks Zindel. Thanks for watching and your comment. We hope you are a subscriber.
Unbelievable. You forgot the 1990 Ford EXP

Very informative entertaining and funny. But some of these were ugly if not all of them to say the least.
One of the boldest Boca vids yet. Those Mustangs don’t hurt my feelings and wow a 911…. But the truth is, compared to other models of these cars… you’re right. I will say that I did see a mint version of that last gen Monte this summer and think it really wasn’t so bad.
To me chrysler imperial is one of the bests designs of 90s , is very elegant
Great Video! I think you pretty much named them all.
Thanks Jeff! Lol
Wow, I disagree with everything on this list. None of these cars are ugly, bland at worst, and some (the caprice) cool.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's what this channel is all about Pizza. Thanks for watching and the comment. We hope you are a subscriber.
Most of these cars still looked better than the majority built from the mid to late seventies.
Those are some my favorite cars! Love the Caprice. I had a Riviera and I still love it.
5:54 I wouldn't mind owning a late 80's to early 90's Ford Taurus. The 96 to 00 was ugly
I had a first generation Taurus SHO. It was one of the nicest, most fun cars I ever owned. Also the most unreliable, unfortunately.
Honestly even when I was living in the 90's I found most of the cars ugly as sin.
What?! I love the 996 Porsche

@Boca Brothers Classic Car Review
i would say the 4th gen was definitely a lowpoint for the mustang
@@s_for_short2400 Well then why did it last as long as it did!.
@@mikeweizer3149 they did start looking decent with the 1999 redesign.
Omfg how dare you! I’ve owned a ‘95 Riv and I presently store my ‘94 Mustang GT!
Yeah...That's right we said it. lol......Thanks for watching our video and your comment. We respect your opinion. We hope you're a subscriber.
I had a 91 Caprice, loved it
Most of them are cars I used too see on the roads in 80's & 90's they looked normal.
I don't agree with some of these choices although I will say the Ford Taurus/ Mercury Sable '96 were ugly. And so was the Pontiac Aztec which i didn't see on the list etc
Jasper DiLincoln. I agree the Pontiac Aztec was the 90's version of the AMC Pacer. Two of the ugliest cars in history along with the Nissan Juke.
@@trevagraham1605 The Pontiac Aztec didn't appear until the 2001 model year.
This guy doesn't understand that every thing in the 90s was cool.
No
The Lumina, Imperial, Catera, Monte Carlo and Porsche 996 weren't really ugly, they were just ordinary.
Again, everything is subjective Gerald. Thanks for watching.
Except for the caprice and the taurus , I actually like every car in this video, even that Chrysler imperial, I remeber being 10 and sitting inside one I was like wow this feels so great and spacious
Thanks for watching and the the feedback. Make sure and subscribe to win merch!
The sn95 mustang gets plenty of hate.
This list is ridiculous. A lot of these cars sold quite well and people loved them
How can you say the 91 Caprice is ugly, it was the last of its kind, and pretty beautiful lines for a Chevrolet!
I like a lot of these. They have personality, much better than the host of suvs that all look like a high top shoe we have today.
I strongly disagree with this list. Most, if not all, of these cars are either bland, boring, or weird. BUT. NOT. UGLY.
Ford gave Australia the Taurus in the late 90's. It didn't last very long.
That's messed up I owned 5 of the cars on that list
You survived Norris...hehe. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe.
I disagree with most of these cars being unattractive.
It depends on the version though.
Some versions of the fox body platform might look "boring"...
Dang, most of these cars look great! Please skip the ageism next time.
You forgot the Buick Roadmaster STATIONWAGON!!
Totally agree, except for the Lumina and Imperial... The Imp was exactly what it should've been, and the Lumina, for the time, was actually handsome...
The Lumina is only as handsome as you, DAVE🤣
I can agree on everyone of these cars.
Thanks for watching and the comment. We hope you are a subscriber!
I love my monte and by 1995 standards it was a very nice looking car as was the lumina that's why theys were so popular then! They out sold the "ugly" taurus.. which I personally liked the styling of aswell
The ugliest of the 90s have nothing on those of today. All of these “crossovers” and mini suvs are the ugliest, fugliest vehicles ever on the road
Davidpar 2 AGREED!¡!.
Is it just me or are all of these cars actually fine? Like it could just be the fact that they’re getting cool now because of the era but honestly I don’t see an issue with any of these cars. They all look fantastic to me and most of them I actually do want.
Everything is subjective Jordan. But yes, I wouldn't mind a few of these today. Merry Christmas and thanks for watching. Make sure and subscribe!
@@ThisOldCarChannel will do!
I want to see the worst vans ever made. A top 10. Like the lumina apv or Aerostar.
None of these cars I think are ugly. I’m not saying these cars don’t have any other faults but design wasn’t one of them. I think the BMW E36 3-series was less attractive than any of these cars, despite being a better car than most on the list. Just never really liked the square headlight 3-Series Bimmer.
Yep. The 90's by far had the ugliest cars ever. I do. not think there were any decent-looking cars in the 90s.
Literally none
I don't know who made this list, but they need to be fired.
Michael "Save a Car" Morris!
You mean to tell me that the Toyota Previa isn't on this list?
Subaru SVX doesn’t belong on this list!
I can't see how the Monte Carlo or the Chrysler one is that bad....The others though I agree with lol.....I love the early to mid 90's cars the best.
