@@MarkSeinIII yeah it is the first game in the series, but koudelka is never a party member in any shadow hearts game, but she does play a fairly important role early on in the first game and her son is a party member
Just found out about this game. Beat the Gargoyle without any trouble. All my character are Int + health build : P magic is better than melee since its instant.
other then Shadow Hearts one.........which this is a prequel of so it kinda doesn't count or Sweet Home, which never released outside Japan. ........theres not alot of Horror RPGs period, you can kinda count them on just 2 hands. Someone should attempt to make another Horror RPG.
Heh, I thought I was the only one who debuffed the shit out of the Gargoyle, I decreased all his stats at least once and I used the James behind Koudelka behind Edward formation so Edward was the only receiver of physical attacks and I buffed the shit out of his strength and vitality.
I don't know where you heard that but it's wrong, I've fought enemies that absorb earth with the Sacnoth and it did normal damage, also I've had the game for years and on my old file the Sacnoth never broke, the Sacnoth and Roger's Cane are the only weapons that can't break, the rest of them do break, the Mace and Daniel's Cross do break after quite a while but you shouldn't attack with them as tempting as it is.
I play this through emulation since I never picked it up as a child (games that had a somewhat dark/horrorish cover made me ISTANTLY look the other way) but the audio of the voice acting comes out terribly. Im trying to get a different version of the Iso but they take forever to download on my phone bleh!
Weird video game. My friend couldn't complete it because he threw away an item he needed for the last boss. I remember thinking the soundtrack was good. Same composer as Seiken Densetsu.
Not entirely true; while certaintly it's the only horror RPG -released- that I can think of, it's not the only horror RPG -in existence-. Ushiro was planned by Level-5 and a trailer was screened at the TGS, but they eventually took down the website for it, implying it was canned :(
I knw this comment is 4 years old but I have to say no the game is not bad at all I just started playing recently it is very good and unique how often do you see horror/jrpg into one? also this games mechnaics remind me vaguely of Square's SaGa series games in the way you can customize yer characters and make them specialize and grow however you want by making them use certain weapons or magics a lot and those gain levels if you are not familiar with the SaGa series games such as Romancing SaGa and SaGa Frontier heck even Final Fantasy 2 NES this game is really awesome and I have just only barely scrtached the surface since I have only just started playing. been spending time level grinding. my only gripe with the game is it can be a bit slow during battles but that is a given for many 3D rpg games as opposed to their 2D counterparts.
Didn't like the grid system in combat btw except the part where the enemy is moving from cover to cover. It'd probably be better if they ditched it, to which they thankfully did in Shadow Hearts.
Man the PS1 had such a vibe, Vandal Hearts, Alundra 1&2, Koudelka, Bushido Blade, Soul Edge
It's a shame we abandoned this style so fast
The ONLY RPG with a scary atmosphere.
I loved Their moves especially Koudelka when she casts a spell, I used to copy her lol.
yzoooon saaaaame XD
i wouldnt say only, the first shadow hearts game was pretty good too, but yeah, theres really not many horror rpgs around which is a shame
I never got to own this game, but what I saw of it sorta gave off similar vibes I got from Parasite Eve
@@woteveruk1 Koudelka is the first game in the Shadow Hearts series. I can't remember which game it is but in one of them Koudelka is a party member.

Just started playing this now and im blown away. Truly a diamond in the rough.
same here

Dear god, this music never fails to be amazing. It works with Elden Ring so well
a remaster or remake of this in future would be awsome lol
You sir just gave me an idea..
With the way games are made now, I think a lot of companies would fuck up if they tried to make a Horror RPG.
this game was the first times really hard. great rpg und really good boss music
I missed so much,maybe one day come to ps4 :) :)
i dont tihnk it will, but, you can always sail the seas and emulate
@@woteveruk1 i just figured out how bad was my English in those times, i laughed so hard, have a healthy day !
This game is awesome
Underrated gem🔥
A really unique masterpiece...😍
This game has some unique music.

I remember good on this melodies^^ They´re so great as the game^.~
1:30 is when it starts getting really good.
There is also Parasite Eve and Sweet Home.
i started playing this game again :D
cus i missed it so much
Did you finish the game?
Lol, I wasn't expecting this... I don't think I did in the end, not sure why.... 🤔@@Teigen2077
Alte erinnerungen *.*
It reminds me to the boss themes from Hourai Gakuen and Idea no Hi.
Sweet Home is another horror RPG, but it's Famicom only to my knowlege.
No, the first fight where she's immune to magic, as for the ending, I've seen all endings.
Flautita peruana moment

Unless you have a really resilient weapon or one that doesn't break at all like the Sacnoth.
Seems like an interesting game without being highly rated.Wish I could find it to play it.
Nice soundtrack.

yeah i agree! but i didnt have the chance to finish this game.. how can i play this game on pc? tnx!
W
Yes that were cool times ;-)
If i know one thing about this game it's that it starts you out in a boss fight the second you gain control!
What a game...
very nice
Because I use two mages, one with a mace and one with a cat's eye, also in the "use magic only" Elaine fight I use the cat's eye with Edward.
If it wasn't for the long and tiring boss battles Koudelka could be the perfect game
But it's so good nevertheless...

@CelestialDestruction thanks alot ^-^
Is this the same composer of Yugioh Forbidden Memories? I swear it sounds very similar
Wow
I was told to listen to this so I am. 報雖活埋榨槭粧品

The download link for the file has gone dead :(

youre supposed to lose to Elaine to get the actual ending. not the cutscene death but the one on top of the tower.

a game made by someone thats called 'Porterminus' is pretty freaky.
I feel like I'm dancing with Anubis in a pyramid instead of fighting a boss. Excellent song though

Something's not right... But it's not this OST.
WOO WOO WOO? Hiroki Kikuta. U KNOW IT!
honestly a good soundtrack, for a pretty bad game...
I disagree. I think it is a great game.
i think is the opposite, the soundtrack is definitely no horror or scary
