Im still deciding.. Been to the coastal areas.. But im thinking about the western part, not much into hiking though.. But planning on boating.. So which towns are good & close to lakes? Not too close though.. Help a brotha out
I lived in North Carolina for 15 years. I had a beautiful friend who was challenged mentally. She was treated horribly by Massachusetts people but in North Carolina she was treated with respect, love and caring. North Carolina not only is a physically beautiful place but the people are loving, kind, spiritual and so much better than any place I have ever been. I will retire here with the most beautiful people I know!!! you
Ya it’s tough. I’ve only live in Mass my whole life so far. People are hard. But if you’re nice you can get people to open up and be friendly back. But so interested in living somewhere else NC seems so cheap!!! But idk about how work is down there
ashresearcher there’s a bunch of trees here so there’s gonna be a lot of bugs. There’s Pamela bugs (cockroaches) but those aren’t super common. Like most places, they boom in the summer. Nothing’s like going to a beach a walking into a giant family of nats. But a lot of them are nice. I befriended a baby spider today. They were so cute.
Born and raised in NC! Never leaving! Carolina alumna!!! Living in Cary, NC! My husband and I both work remote in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
Agreed! Thanks for watching! All the best to you. Check out our podcast on iTunes, Google Play or Stitcher. It's called Joyfully Married After and more goodness at HeathandTracy.com.
Thank you guys! I was searching for a good review of North Carolina from African Americans and you guys nailed it...Also you both make a really cute couple.
NORTH CAROLINA-GEO WATCH bro I live near west jefferson nc, believe me, the chemtrails are here.....theres a secret base here where they practice flying their planes around my house, we've seen tons of chemtrails & even dozens of drones flying in formations....things go bump in the night man......they're everywhere
Moved here near boone nc from grand Rapids Michigan & im never going back, my entire life I was surrounded by racism and now nc has me feeling nice for once, so many nice people here, it's a breathe of fresh air
Anthony, Cary has definitely grown on us more since we did the original vid a couple of years ago. Yes, it certainly is the “high rent district “, which is what we were looking for when we moved here. Kids and schools and all of that. More services are being added all the time which is great. Still a bit bland for our taste but a great place to live overall...Thanks for watching!
I'm currently in Brooklyn NY hoping to move to Greensboro,NC. I hope to stumble upon such an honest and sincere video about Greensboro like I did this video. Thank you for sharing!😁
+L Carrasco that is going to be a huge adjustment. Small, Collegiate and about half way between Raleigh and Charlotte. I think they just opened a Cheesecake Factory, Just to give you an idea. Cost of living is super low too. I have family and friends that live there and enjoy it. North Carolina A&T and UNC-Greensboro is there and they also have a lot of concerts. Be prepared to travel to Raleigh and Charlotte to switch it up frequently. Good luck on the move and thanks for watching!
Thank you for that information! I truly do not mind the adjustment to "boring". I definitely want to get away from this madness to start a family. I wish you luck as well on your future move. 🤗
Thanks Heath and Tracy for making this video! It was so much easier than trying to relate your Pros and Cons to an "online" article. My spouse and I are looking to move from CA to NC and this video gave us a realistic overview.... THANKS!
+H Tran so glad this was helpful. Don't get us wrong, it's a great area, but it's mid tier vs. being in a major metropolitan area of the world 🌎. So as long as you know that, you can make necessary adjustments. Are you guys looking at RTP or a different part of NC? All the best!
I've lived here all my life, 46 years. I'm an NC State alum, originally from the Greensboro area. Currently Living in the Asheville area. You two hit most of the big stuff correctly. Your pros and cons are a helpful guide to those thinking about moving here. The only thing I would like to give my opinion on is yours about it being boring. I can see why one would say it. NC is more about special interests and entertaining yourself through your own hobbies than seeking entertainment for the most part. If you like outdoorsy stuff, you can be quite entertained. As you two mentioned, you get the full spectrum of living in NC: the mountains, piedmont, and coastal areas. Running, hiking, biking, canoeing... you get it, NC could be a great choice for you. Personally, living in the Asheville area, you get all of the privately owned foodie aspects, culture, beer culture, and outdoor recreational culture. The mountains however, are not a great place to live if you don't secure a professional job prior to moving and can be tough to survive financially. Nice place to visit. Difficult to make a living in the mountains. High, white collar jobs exist, but they tend to pay less due to all the people opting for the beautiful area. I suppose the coastal region is quite the same. Fun to visit, difficult to find a good job.
+HeathandTracyTV Abosoulty, this will be the difficult decision because we are use to living in a major metropolitan area. Raliegh and Charollote will our first choices because of the job opportunities they both offer. Thanks again ...!
Tran, I am a CA native who moved from CA to GA to NC (Charlotte). I would say economically you will find it easier to make "it" here than in Cali (I lived in both Southern and Northern CA) . You will be in culture shock for a while, but I prefer NC to GA. I never quite felt comfortable in GA, here I feel at peace. Good luck to you and your spouse!
Considering moving to NC (Raleigh/Durham area) from NYC but considering other states as well. If even half of the people living there are like you both, I'm sold! Y'all are both so charismatic and charming!
Treesuh, thanks so much for the kindness. Come on down. Things are getting a lot better here too. They call our town Containment Area for Relocating Yankees. CARY. You’ll fit right in! Check out our podcast too on Apple, Google Play, Stitcher and Spotify. Joyfully Married After. Thanks for watching!
My mom and aunt are from NJ (I know different) and they said they can’t believe how long they stayed. When she came for a visit though she didn’t like it because there were “too many trees” (which meant bugs). But they wouldn’t ever move back because there aren’t any trees and it’s just too much traffic and people. They hate NJ now actually. On the bus there’ll just be a long line of thank yous. People are really nice here. You’d like it a lot.
My family relocated to NC 6 years ago from the DMV area and we love it. After searching the areas surrounding RDU we decided to purchase a home in Sanford, NC. It’s roughly a 40min commute for me to Morrisville, NC and couldn’t be happier. I will say the traffic on 54 in Morrisville is horrible. City BBQ is really good as well. Traffic is during the normal rush hour times. Great Video!
I live in Central Florida and the cost of living here is ridiculous and it doesn't equate to the hourly wages. & I'm so sick of thunderstorms and crime has gotten really bad over the last 20 yrs
This was helpful! We are considering moving to Charlotte from Southern CA. I think it's hilarious when you talk about people there thinking traffic is a lot of cars going 40 mph. LOL That is a good day of traffic here!
Charlotte is a very nice area with quite alot going on. Much more to offer than Cary, which is more of a suburb of the Raleigh/Durham area. Charlotte is a growing metropolitan area with a great mix of people from many different areas, and is still growing
Raising Brandt I-77, especially going north towards Mooresville, is nothing to scoff at. There’s a reason that section of highway made the top of a list ranking the 10 worst highways in the country
@@sharlakokochaos472 WOW!!!! I heard some good and bad about Charlotte. I always wanted to check out Charlotte but I kept hearing it is bad there. Also, I heard schools are horrible. I heard it is best to move to the outskirts of Charlotte,
I live is a small community in N.C. have lived here my whole life I love how everyone is friendly and believe in helping each other out. I love how when bad storms come through people are pitching in before the storm ends most of the time.
I was born and raised in North Carolina and I gotta say you two pretty much nailed living here. But you forgot Sweet Tea. Gotta drink Sweet Tea and drink Cheerwine (A NC Produced Soft drink).
Whatever you do, DON'T MOVE TO FLORIDA. (unless you're looking on the west coast: Tampa is the best for families) Florida traffic might not beat Atlanta's, but it's still pretty bad. Floridians (almost all) are racist, even in the most multicultural cities like Miami and Orlando. The weather is horrid. Always hot and humid. Right now here in Miami it's 90 degrees with a heat index of 102. You'll get maybe one or two days of the best weather (in January it can get as low as a nice and brisk 60 degrees) Everything is expensive here, from transportation, housing, groceries, and gas (more expensive in more the cities). Also don't expect to find any friendly people south of West Palm Beach (except keywest, filled with friendly gays and old people). Best pro here is probably there is lots to do in Florida. From our plentiful theme parks (hello Disney world!) to our beautiful natural (and cold) springs, Florida has plenty for every type of person.
+Sarah wife has family in the Palm Beach area. We love Florida and yes there is lots to do. Yes it's hot but my wife grew up there and I grew up in Atlanta so very use to heat and humidity. There's a/c for that😉. No state tax so our income would increase if all else stays the same. Growing up in the Deep South with brown skin and working in corporate America means dealing with racism hourly, daily, weekly, yearly; (covert & overt) Nothing new to us. We speak and believe the best of people cover our family with blessing everyday. We'll see where the Lord leads us but Florida looks as good as anywhere right now for us. Thanks so much for watching Sarah!
I do not really see racism in Tarpon Springs Florida ,but then again I don't know( I would like to think people are more civilized in the year 2017) . I personally treat people the way I want to be treated no matter what there color, religion, or age is . I respect people as long as they respect me .
I have lived in Maryland for 19 years, NC for 5 years and FL for 8 years. I would also say DO NOT MOVE TO FLORIDA. The income tax in NC is not that bad, it's about 5.5%, (NY or CA is over 10%) Florida has zero income tax, but everything else cost more, FL has plenty of toll roads, NC does not, groceries cost A LOT MORE in FL than in NC, because Publix is king down there (no competition), NC has sooo many different choices for grocery stores and they double/triple coupons, no store in Florida does that. Housing, car insurance cost more in FL than in NC!!! 90% of people in FL can not drive a motor vehicle properly! Plus, I love how in NC when you say hi to someone they actually say hi and many will take a couple mins and engage in conversation. In FL, getting someone to say hi back to you is about as rare as a FL driver using their turn signal. If you have to move to Florida, stick with Jacksonville or the panhandle, the rest of the state is a mess, especially Orlando and Miami.
Literally was watching your DC pros and cons video with your daughter the other day..was thinking of NC and this popped up. Look at God!🤗🙏🏽 Thanks for the video
NaturallGorg85, so glad you found value in the content. Check out our Facebook page as well, Heath and Tracy Know Carolina for a bit more info...Thanks for Watching!
+Simple Me Greensboro may be a target 🎯 for you. Low cost and good economic activity. Charlotte could be another option. The area where we are is excellent as well for employment. Tech, pharma, healthcare. If you have some skills you should be good. Need to add some skills, check out Wake Tech or somewhere like that and then go get em'! Single....ummmm. Stay prayed up, be open to all types of men.
+Roses 4me lots of Asian Indian men where we live. Probably the largest minority group in my area. A small Asian community here as well with lots of diverse people from across the country relocating here everyday! Good luck 👍🏾 Thanks so much for your comment and for watching!
+Simple Me make those moves! God's speed. We wish you only the best. Yes there are solid banking centers here. Glad the vid helped. Thanks for watching!
I am a younger widowed transplant from Philadelphia to the Charlotte area.. Different stage of my life. Moved here alone. I absolutely love the area. Not bored at all. I work, volunteer, joined a church and have an active social life. Thanks for sharing your insight. I didn't know that you don't own air/subterranean area above and under your home.
All of your cons of it being boring and not much to do and it being slow paced sounds amazing to me! Lol. I am all about that, I hate fast paced city life. I am from Maine, and Maine to me is like the South of the North. People are the same, life is slow paced, nothing really to do, LOTS of farms and agriculture and big beautiful fields, mountains, etc.. (except for southern Maine. I hate Southern Maine lol.) I have roots in Eastern NC and when I visit it seems just like Maine. But you can tell its different and I love it! Only thing I would miss if I decided to move down there permanently would me my family (obviously) and my giant noreasters, and BEAUTIFUL fall weather! AND OUR LOBSTER. I am so torn of where I want to go ughhhhh
Thinking about possibly moving from Orange County, California to Cary, NC and this really helps so much. If everyone is warm and amazing as you two are, makes it even more of a plus. Thank you for this!
Glad to Sondra. You’ll love it here. All the best. Check out HeathandTracy.com and we have a podcast too. Joyfully Married After on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher and Spotify. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I find it strange that you're bored in the Raleigh area. I find so much to do in Raleigh (coming from NYC / NJ). I guess it all depends on what you're into. I take advantage of the natural surroundings, lakes, trails, music venues, bars, restaurants - so many eclectic places to eat: Cowfish in North Hills for example; state fair, peacefulness. I've never been bored in NC. I absolutely love it here. About to purchase a second home in Wendell, that might seem a bit boring, but Raleigh is only 20 mins. away.
+Vanessa beingV glad to hear! Done all of that and more. We were saying "boring" In comparison to where we have lived before (ATL/DC). We know and accept this is a mid-tier city. Bars and restaurants aren't "entertainment" in our lifestyle. Our home backs up to a path that connects us to a larger trail. Great amenities in the town we live in, which we've come to expect. Just noting that this area is much slower.
SkateNess beingV so glad to hear that you like it. Seems like an amazing place to live! My fiancé is in tech and I’m in academia, so it seems perfect. However, I’m looking for a place with a French population. Do you know if there are many French people in Raleigh? I’m from NYC area originally, so I’m a little scared that Raleigh might be “boring”, but I’ll take that over high crime.
I was born in the Bahamas, but I have lived in Singapore, London, San Diego and Washington, D.C.. How the hell did I end up in Apex, North Carolina? A mystery never fully explained.
Cary is a Bedroom community of Raleigh,NC it's a nice place to live if you like the laid back life style and have alittle $$$$ very expensive part of the Raleigh, NC Metro Area. I live in North Raleigh, I will say this Raleigh is "NO" Atlanta,NYC,L.A. or Miami when it comes to tons of stuff to do Lol, but it's come a very Long way Raleigh has a very active nightlife and music scene now with alot of districts Glenwood South, Fayetteville St. the warehouse District and Hillsborough St, North Hills Midtown District it's a growing area and stuff is coming but if your not from this area and again not gonna knock Cary but it's a nice bedroom community of Raleigh, buts you don't move there to have fun, Raleigh and Cary are not the same and Durham is coming along as well alot of growth the American Tobacco complex and other stuff popping up in there Downtown is very nice!
+DARK STAR 100% agreed! Great points and on target. But if your interests lie outside of drinking and bar hopping still not much to do.Thanks for watching!
+DARK STAR Things I miss are big name outdoor concerts every weekend in summer, not just blue grass or "local favorites". Think Chastain Park in Atlanta. Along with professional football, basketball and baseball games with friends because somebody you know has season tickets. Also, we miss diverse cultural festivals through out the year, Museum art shows that rotate World renown paintings and global artifacts on a quarterly basis. We took our children at least 3 times a year. None of which happens in the triangle. But like you said you don't move here for the nightlife. Just saying the area has a lot of growing to do and definitely a CON, especially if moving from a larger city.
We are moving to the Raleigh area, next week!! We are moving from Texas. I cannot wait! You cracked me up when you said it was boring lol! I’m so thankful to move to an area that has so much diversity and culture, thought. It was a definite plus for us and having younger children. Can’t wait! Love the video :) y’all are adorable!
So happy for you Morgan. Yes, the queen can be very funny sometimes. We’ve grown to like the area. Safe travels! Check out our podcast too on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher and Spotify. Joyfully Married After. Thanks for watching!
This was funny to watch. I am from Philly and I am moving to NC (suburb to charlotte) so that my kids can have a better education they are 8 and 6. Philly isn't what it use to be and I had enough of this place. I'm very excited about the change for not only me but my children. Maybe we will come visit lol. Stay blessed...
Where would you move to next? I'm debating nc or Houston.. opening my healthcare agency.. I'm 31.. dont want to be somewhere boring but want a nice area to live with my family.
I'm glad this popped up in my recommends. I'm actually relocating to NC in June. This is good information and perfect timing. Also good to hear the info from an African American viewpoint.
Currently living in Raleigh area, Husband working in Cary area... Raleigh is too suburban for us!!! We love NC for the weather, and nature... We plan to relocate to Charlotte or Durham however as the people and things to do are more diverse!! It's true Raleigh/Cary is VERY boring, especially if you're not White.
My husband recommended I watch thus, as we are on our eighth move, and considering NC. He thought the two of you were too cute. And you really are. Thank you for sharing. This was extremely helpful.
+Ilene Guido come on! No state tax! We'd have an instant raise in Florida. ;-) The Mouse, NBA, Sunshine, cost of living, a plethora of 5 star ⭐️ hotels and restaurants, nightlife. Sorry 😐. No comparison to the mid tier city we live in. The construction is necessary to keep pace with the growth. The US is moving South & West...Pluses & minuses to everything however. Great things about where we live too. Quiet. Safety, employment, etc. Its about your perspective, where you are in life and what you value. All good . Thanks for your comment. I respect your viewpoint . We appreciate you watching! -H
Take it from a Floridian who grew up in Miami and lived in Orlando for 5 years, Florida is VERY overrated. There's not a lot of culture or community in Orlando--tons of sprawl. Feels pretty dead-end to me. I live in Portland OR now, and while it's not ideal, it's def. NOT boring, easier to establish community, more opportunities. The rainy/chilly weather gets to me, but there are plenty of others places in the U.S. I'd move to though before ever thinking about FL.
Erica Wilson I agree with you ... Florida is too expensive in terms of renting or buying a place ... you will end up living in the hood or the ghetto ..and the wages/ pay is awful
Tracy is a Floridian and knows all the do’s and don’ts. “Lake property” is not cool. Get errands done by noon then get in the AC. And racism is worse the father North you go. Everywhere has its pros and cons. Yep if you live near the mouse, it’s going to be blazing, no large ocean breezes to cool you off.
Triangle is more closer than triad area. I-85 is tricky. North Carolina cares about staying litter free. Fines are 300 and up for littering. Interstate I-85 is better than back roads.
Tia, you are right. As a native North Carolinian, we do not like litter. We are not all raised the same way, of course, but ,for the most part most of us were raised in NC by the golden rule: Treat others as you wish to be treated. Someone else here commented that they liked how North Carolinians treat people and I can tell you as a southerner, I have met nice people and not so nice people all over the US and the world. People should remember one thing and that is, what's important in life is not what you have, but who you are. Be responsible, live a simple life and treat others kindly and the world would be a most different & better place for all. God Bless.
I moved here too Wilmington NC 18 months ago and I love it here. I moved from Palm Springs CAlif. MY fam. Lives in CALIFORNIA the reasons I moved is that I'm retired and got tire of paying high real estate taxes, high gas at $4 a gallon for regular $50 for stake dinner etc. I 'm only 15 minutes to the beautiful beaches here of Carolina beach,Wrightsville beach and many more, weather is beautiful, planty shops and restaurants. In CA is much too expensive to live this close to the beach and the water is cold all the time, u need a million dollars to live this close over there. My fam Will never leave CA but now I have money left over to go visit them or for them to come here. It's a lot of building going on here and prices are going up very fast. People from here say that too much traffic and I said, you do not know what traffic is until you live in Southern California and takes 2 hours each way to get to work,. I went to Florida to look and didn't like there , much too humid and awful place! But when I came to Wilmington and saw it , OMG this is paradise here !I said I want to live here ! I don't want to many people to find out about This places but I think is too late now as the properties not staying on the market for less than 2 months, I live 3 miles from the CAPE FEAR RIVER which have many water front restaurants and downtown Wilmington. All in all in few years people looking to move won't be able to afford to move here, it's my prediction , this is from a person that bought 12 different homes in different times of my life in up and coming neighborhood in LA . So good luck to you all!
Thanks so much for sharing Sonia. We can see your appreciation and awareness of the pluses. So important to have awareness with this type of thing. We completely agree with your assessment of the cost . Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Great channel Heath and Tracy!! I used to work in Cary and with the design of your home and the others in your video I think I know right where your at. If I’m right then I used to work on a bunch of those in those developments. I used to be a custom remodeler/ builder and did finished basements with custom bars, high end home theaters , custom kitchens, etc. I subscribed to your channel and love your outlook on life, marriage, etc. my wife and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary on June 4th! Take care and good luck on everything!!
Don, we really appreciate the kind words and thanks so much for subscribing! We specialize in relationships but will continue to create NC content as well. Congratulations to you and your wife on marital success and we hope that we can positively impact you in some way. Maybe we’ll bump into you somewhere! Thanks for watching!
I’m originally from (holly springs)NC and recently moved to RVA! Aggie bread (NC A&T). Homegrown country girl! ❤️ NC is def the place to be! Holly springs is the best place to live. Fun fact: it’s actually the 2nd Safest City in NC!
Not so sure anymore, more coins needed! I grew up there so many of the issues transplants have, I grew up with. You would have to admit of the coins are right, there is no better place. Thanks for watching and good luck with the move! NC is the place to be!
Thank you for the positive review of my native state. You should have lived here in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. It was wonderful back then. Now there are more non-native residents than native and it just is not the same. Now its crowded, the beaches used to be devoid of houses and you could go to the beach wherever you wanted. The lakes had few houses around them. The biggest negative about this is the developers sell to those with the money which leaves out the locals, and the locals lose their heritage to non-natives. So what used to be a wonderful, unique, beautiful place to live is becoming like everywhere else. People tend to destroy the places that they love just by being there.
+Juan Marco I feel you. I'm a native of Atlanta so maybe you can imagine the changes I've seen from 1 million people or so in the 70s to close to 6 million today. As they say, the only consistent thing in life is change. Don't let it make you bitter though; roll with it! Thanks for watching!
HeathandTracyTV you should see northern Virginia back then, today it's day and night compared to the rest of virginia, now it seems north carolina cities are heading in the same direction especially raleigh durham and charlotte
I live 10 hours away from North Carolina and my grandparents that came from there came up to see me. When they were going to drop me off from the hotel they stayed in (I slept over in) they suggested that next week they would pick me up to go with them to North Carolina! ..my parents said no.
Hello guys, I am a Carolina Beach N.C. native. 36 years here. I wanted to say I think both of you are great and i loved your pros and cons list. So accurate. i loved how YALL kept it classy and light. obvi yall are locals now but welcome to the bordem.. lol luckily my backyard was the ocean but still it can be boring. cheers guys.
Awesomeness! Look forward to bumping into you. Also, check out our podcast. It’s called Joyfully Married After on Apple Podcast, Google Play, Stitcher and Spotify. Thanks for watching!
I live in Baltimore, I currently work in South Central PA and I am considering moving up there, but when I found out my company, which also has a site in Raleigh, NC, and I could make more money, I'm considering moving there too.
We went to NC last year because of Hurricane Irma... and omg what a beautiful state ... we are moving for now to charllote... my husband is leaving this Friday and I'm moving in December with our two kids. One teen and a toddler.... huge change we both are Latinos living in miami and we honestly want something more family oriented .... love your video ❤
Good Luck on the move Charlotte is rising. And yes NC is one of the most beautiful states. Make sure you take a family trip to the mountains, our favorite! Thanks for watching!
Hey I'm a Raleigh native. For a good local meal, check out big Ed's. For something more exquisite try Nina's Restaurante in North Raleigh. Small, privately owned, Italian chef, where everyone knows your name.
My wife and I are really looking to move our family to the Raleigh area. I thought this video was very helpful and much appreciated. We're a family of 5 with 3 wonderful children ages 5-9.
+Tyler Gaffney check the schools prior to moving to make sure they have room. Once a school reaches capacity they move the new kids to another school. Also lots of free and low cost recreation in The Town of Cary for kids your age. Good Luck on the move and thanks for watching!
NCA&T has my heart. Their band is awesome. I've lived in Greensboro NC, Tally & Jax FL, and Nash TN. Very much agree TN, and NC are pretty boring. Finna move back to NC though, and I'm excited. Something about TN just makes me feel dread I dunno what it is. Much love!
I feel you Angela. Its getting a little better but I agree with you. Check us out HeathandTracy.com as well and our Podcast is live on iTunes, Google Play and Stitcher. It's called Joyfully Married After. Thanks for watching!
Angela gross why not? There are plenty of singles here.the problem is most of them want to stay single and have extra curricular relationships...hint hint Raleigh is starting to be little ATL with the down low black men...
I grew up in the rural poverty, backward, poverty- stricken, northeastern North Carolina. No industry, if you are in to hunting and fishing, farming, then it's the place for you. Not a lot of chain restaurants independent restaurants, cultural events or good shopping. Boring. After going to school after graduation I stayed in Durham. I loved Durham and all of the conveniences. I was there for 30 years until I was laid off by IBM and I had to move back to Warren County, the back of beyond. You haven't seen boring. I would love to move back to the Triangle! The Triangle and Charlotte areas are oasis in a sea of poverty, lack of industry and technology, good shopping, ignorance, lack of culture and mediocrity and boredom.
I’m from the Sandhills and it is very similar economy sucks and there is an old school attitude about certain things. I don’t think people realize NC is more than just Raleigh Durham Charlotte and those aren’t accurate depictions of what NC is really like especially without all of the transplants.
I have been living in Phoenix Arizona for over 20 years and I'm absolutely in love with this state. However, things are changing here, housing is becoming less affordable and its becoming very crowded here. I am now considering coming to North Carolina
We appreciate the kind words Summer. June 16th will Be our 29th wedding anniversary... Have you heard our podcast? “Joyfully Married After “, on your favorite audio platform. 😉 Thanks again for watching!
This has been super helpful. My son and I are hoping to relocate to the Chapel Hill Carrboro area from upstate NY. As an LGBT family, we have felt a little concerned about acceptance in the south. The two of you made it all feel very warm and welcoming. Your perspective has been very helpful. We were thinking Asheville may be a better fit, but my sister and her wife live in Chapel Hill and love it. Thanks so much for this!
Julie, thanks so much for the kind words. We think you’ll find your tribe here. We wish you only success and happiness in your upcoming move. Check out our Facebook page too. Heath and Tracy Know Carolina. Putting some good content up over there now as well. Thanks for watching! Here is our latest updated NC vid... th-cam.com/video/9TBM6tzYReA/w-d-xo.html
I recently relocated back to Atlanta from Gastonia, NC, just south of Charlotte. For exactly 1 year (May 2017- June 2018) I was working for a company in King’s Mountain, just on the NC/SC border off I-85. I loved the proximity to Charlotte, but living in Gaston County, I felt that I had stepped back in time. Thankfully, I was only 3 hours from Atlanta, 1.5 hours from Columbia, SC, 2 hours from Florence, SC (mom lives there) 2.5 from Dillon, Sc (Dad lives there and I grew up there) . All the food was wonderful! I grew up on BBQ, grits and dirt roads. All my entertainment was in Charlotte for the most part, but the job turned out to be not so great and I was ready to go home to Atlanta, (Decatur). I enjoyed the fact that the traffic was less volume, but the housing market was priced higher than I expected for little ol’ Gastonia. Had I more time there, I would have explored living in Rock Hill, SC a little more, since my parents are in South Carolina and lower taxes. North Carolina is beautiful, nature, the weather, varies activities for families. If you are married and the 2.5 kids, definitely worth exploring. Me, I’m in my mid-40’s , no kids, single. I’ve met a few singles, but all my family members who live there are married, with children. I would go back to the Carolinas in few more years, once I know I’m in my retirement age (60’s). Lots of opportunities for senior citizens and good quality of life.
I wish you guys would have mentioned the vast and rich musical culture North Carolina! Names like John Coltrane from Hamlet, N.C., Nina Simone from Tryon, N.C., The "Heath Brothers" and many more from the jazz and blues idiom! A tradition too vast and broad to leave out. Thanks for your review!
We appreciate you adding some rich NC culture to the conversation Michael. Hope you’re well! Check out the other NC videos in our playlist too. Thanks for watching!
And in North Carolina everything closes early even the people that stand outside that don't have jobs go in before 10:00 at night lol but it's still beautiful here though LOL
I have lived in North Carolina over 15 years y’all are right on point with boring but it is a good place to raise your kids, I had planned on moving once my youngest daughter finished school but other daughters had babies so I love watching my now #7 grandchild grow up and my business’s are giving my family life
Thanks for the kind words Adam. Check out our Facebook page too. Heath and Tracy Know Carolina. A bit more data there. All the best! Thanks for watching!
This was a good video. I moved here 9 years ago from Chicago for the school district for my 3 children. It is a good area to raise children but can be very boring for adults. I will be moving in a few months now that they have all graduated HS, looking to go to AZ. How you been there? Any thoughts on AZ? I am in the RTP and I must say the traffic now due to growth is killing me lol. TFS
+Ms Vakashun this traffic is nothing yet. Give it 5 years and it will be awful. You hit the nail on the head.. boring for adults. AZ is a very nice place too. Good luck on the move and thanks for watching!
Ms Vakashun , how funny I found your comment. I’m actually on this video because my husband & I are freaking out , we have always lived in AZ our whole lives and now may need to relocate. To NC . Looks beautiful! People seem amazing. AZ is beautiful in a different way, no green here ! It’s a very dry heat I’m sure you already knew that. You were speaking about boredom and traffic, the kicker is the bigger cities her like Phoenix with lots of places/ things to do are heavily occupied so lots of traffic. I grew up and work in Tucson , it’s smaller than Phoenix and less to do but Phoenix is a 2 hour drive . We here go to a beach in Mexico about 4 hours away (Puerto Peñasco) now I’m a lil different I like to be away from the city so I live in a small , clean , very family orientated community called “Rancho Sahuarita “ about 15-20 minutes outside of Tucson. Near the freeway so we can easily hop on and off to get to other places. Good luck , I always said I was bored here when I was younger , now that I may have to leave I’m actually a bit heartbroken.
I was born and raised in Greensboro. By the time I was in college I knew I was a big city person. The minute I graduated college, I left and haven’t looked back! That was 21 years ago! I’m still a big city person!
Hi there. New subscriber and new TH-camr here. The title of your video really got me, as I am a North Carolinian, born and raised. I only live 10 minutes from my childhood home in southeastern NC. You are truly on point with your review. What I am seeing lately is that NC has joined many other states in the "bipolar weather" category! Seems like tornadoes are occurring more often, especially. On my end, we get the brunt of hurricanes, but at least we have time to prepare, unlike with a tornado. As far as making a living, the Triangle area is definitely where it's at. My youngest daughter's fiance attended East Carolina University, where they met, but the best job offer he received came from a company known as NetApp, near Cary/Durham area. He loves it there! I agree, the beaches and the mountains are two pros that can't be beat!!!! Sorry for the long post, but this was an interesting video produced by an awesome couple!
NetApp is a great place to work! And yes the weather is trying but that isn’t going to change anywhere in the country. Thanks for the sub and all nice and helpful comments accepted here.
HeathandTracyTV Yayyy!! I literally googled relocating to North Carolina and I see this video and it’s so happened that you made this comment today 😊😊😊 it’s a sign lol 😂
@@HeathandTracyTV Would it surprise you to learn that there are cities and towns in Canada that historically (normally) enjoy noticeably warmer winters than Cary, NC?
This is one of the better job markets in the country. Not sure what type of job you are looking for but there are many since the area is growing so much. Also a great place for your sons, as the schools are good. Thanks for watching!
it took me 10years to get adjusted to NC living as a New Yorker born and raised. I felt like a fish out of water. If you want space and beautiful weather it's great. You have to drive a little further for the beach, the mindset here is different, There is no place like NY but NC (Raleigh) is a good place to move to. The salaries suck but you can still make it here.
Thanks for the info! I originally was looking at moving my family to areas outside of Atlanta -Woodstock, Flowery Branch but hearing about the traffic is making me look at Raleigh area now. Appreciate the video! God Bless
Lots of pluses and minuses to both D Russ. More info at our Facebook page, Heath and Tracy Know Carolina. NC bookstore coming soon to HeathandTracy.com as well. Thanks for watching!

I AM SOOOOOO SOOOOOOO SOOOOOO HAPPY I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL!!! So far you guys have mentioned ALLL the cities I have considered moving to and allll the things I have questions about. Not only this but you get straight to the point! 👍🏻👌🏻👍🏻👌🏻 THANK YOU THANK YOU THANKYOU!!! Where are you now? Did you end up moving to Florida? I am dying to move out of Florida! Why? cuz it is Flat AF and if you love the mountains (which you mentioned you did and so do I) YOU WILL MISS MOUNTAINS.

Glad we could assist! Lots of young professionals here and more moving here. Most live in town (Raleigh).Good luck with school and thanks for watching!
I heared there’s skating rings a lot of family stuff to do there I heard there’s fairs the houses are beautiful the malls are big honestly even if it dose get boring after awhile I would still love it better than Pennsylvania
Your video is very useful, yet disappointing as the same time. I live in Los Angeles where the cost of living is extremely high. I've heard nothing but good things about North Carolina and considered moving Raleigh. I work in Education K-12 and I figured I could live a comfortable life in NC and buy a house. However, I am a newly single man and need excitement in my life. If NC is as boring as you say, it might not be a good place for me to live. I am a city guy and bedroom communities will not do. Are there any other places in NC you think will fit my needs? Please let me know. Thanks.
Good News! It’s so easy to get the best cities on the east coast from the Triangle. Raleigh or Durham is still cool for singles in the Triangle. We live in Cary to be exact. Most of our single friends reside in North Raleigh. The hangouts on the weekends are plenty in Downtown Raleigh or Durham. Durham is changing right before our eyes around the Downtown area with new living spaces and restaurants. Keep in mind the proximity to DC and Atlanta also. We still think the Triangle is a good move for singles. Good luck on the move and thanks for watching!
Bertrand Ferguson III it all depends where you live and work. I work for one of the two big hospitals and I live in the suburbs. So they the commute is 10 minutes to work but it takes me 40 minutes.....not because I stop of but because of the traffic. I work with someone that lives 30 minutes and it takes over an hour. For such a small city the congestion and over population is still the same as a big city. I lived in Chicago and Toronto. Now I know it's not the same as LA and Atlanta but for such a small place to have such an over crowded and congested area...nah. the people here are rude privileged snobs but the kicker is that most of them are not from here they are from other places like New York, Atlanta, DC and Florida. It's just personal for me because I am a people person and I love nature. The weather here blows chunks and the best view of nature is some trees and flooded swamps along the roads. I need to see mountains, real snow, friendly people, less congestion....but don't let any of this stop you. Again this is just personal. I am on my way out of here at the end of the year thank God.
saucy chica I'm looking at North Carolina and Tennessee to relocate from the ft lauderdale/Miami area. I'm very well rounded and I like a mix of culture but I need less island life. Asheville interests me a lot but I'm single, very much into neo soul (music is my outlet) and I dnt want to be one of the very few African Americans in a small town listening to country and pop only. From what you've seen, would you say there is a progressive enough mixed culture/race in Asheville?
Tryin to get out of LA Cali. Traffic here is true hell rated #1 in US. I do hate the city life in LA. Ive been yearning for a better quality of life since 12 years ago(35 now) Im raising a family with 3 daughters, I do not want to raise them in cali, any thoughts for NC. What I have in mind; Canton, Asheville, Fletcher, Black Mountain, or, Cary, Apex, Durham, Morrisville, and Pinehurst.
I feel you on the traffic Roderick. With a family, I'd go with Cary, Apex, Durham, Morrisville. Slower pace, great quality of life and you can easily travel to the mountains or beach on weekends...Hope that helps. Check us out at HeathandTracy.com also. We have some great relationship books there and our podcast is called Joyfully Married After on iTunes, Google Play and Stitcher. Thanks for watching!
As a NC native, and, former Raleigh resident, almost anywhere in Wake County would be a good choice. If you prefer to be closer to the city itself, Cary is the best choice, IMHO. Apex would be second. If you want a small town, Wake Forest would be my first pick. Good luck on your move, and, if you do choose NC...Welcome!
We agree! Clayton and Garner traffic is some of the worst here in the triangle. We love the Cary - Morrisville Area. Close to RTP, Raleigh and Durham. We are basically in the middle of it all.
Yes, it does get pretty hot here. I grew up in Atlanta and Tracy grew up in South Florida so we know HOT! Think cool and leverage the air conditioning ;-). Thanks for watching!

I will retire here with the most beautiful people I know!!! you

There is no hospitality here still slave mentality here Charlotte white city 4EVER
Pros:
-Trees
-Nice people
-BBQ
-Bojangles
-Better colleges
-Beautiful
Cons:
-Bipolar weather
-Pollen
-Bugs
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
What's the bug situation? Could you please elaborate? Thanks.
ashresearcher there’s a bunch of trees here so there’s gonna be a lot of bugs. There’s Pamela bugs (cockroaches) but those aren’t super common. Like most places, they boom in the summer. Nothing’s like going to a beach a walking into a giant family of nats. But a lot of them are nice. I befriended a baby spider today. They were so cute.
Wow... Is it hard to keep them out of houses? Is it the worst in the country or something...?

No it’s not that bad. I like all of the life here. The butterflies, ladybugs, fireflies. It’s beautiful to me.

gotta say, Cary is different than most of NC. it's way more “boujie"
big facts!
Anthony, Cary has definitely grown on us more since we did the original vid a couple of years ago. Yes, it certainly is the “high rent district “, which is what we were looking for when we moved here. Kids and schools and all of that. More services are being added all the time which is great. Still a bit bland for our taste but a great place to live overall...Thanks for watching!
lol yep!
North Raleigh and lovely neighborhoods. Upscale areas everywhere
Raleigh NC
+L Carrasco we appreciate you sooo much. Yes, in many instances, boring is good!
+L Carrasco awesome! Looks like things are falling into place for you...
TheDarkAquarian thank you for your opinion, I will definitely take it into consideration!

Hey Patrice, how is Raleigh with regards to diversity, culture, places to go out, things to do, jobs? I’m looking to move from NY as well.
H Tran this is true this is a wonderful review and couple lol but they too city
Tran, I am a CA native who moved from CA to GA to NC (Charlotte). I would say economically you will find it easier to make "it" here than in Cali (I lived in both Southern and Northern CA) . You will be in culture shock for a while, but I prefer NC to GA. I never quite felt comfortable in GA, here I feel at peace. Good luck to you and your spouse!
I live in NYC and there so much to do. But the irony is im too busy busting my ass 40+ a week to afford living here. No time to enjoy myself
Considering moving to NC (Raleigh/Durham area) from NYC but considering other states as well. If even half of the people living there are like you both, I'm sold! Y'all are both so charismatic and charming!

@@Treesuh Charlotte is Beautiful too.Everyone here is nice. I have some videos on Charlotte. I am originally from NYC too
My mom and aunt are from NJ (I know different) and they said they can’t believe how long they stayed.
Thanks for the kind words! Good commute. Good quality of life in Sanford. Thanks for watching!
Cant wait to leave central Florida! This place has really gone down the toilet.
Lots of changes and evolution with migration patterns in the US. All the best on whatever you decide! Thanks for watching Erick!
I live in Central Florida and the cost of living here is ridiculous and it doesn't equate to the hourly wages. & I'm so sick of thunderstorms and crime has gotten really bad over the last 20 yrs
Erick have you moved? Thanx for the video. Houston, Greenville, SC or NC are on my plan for next year.
I live in South Florida. It's bad. Tomorrow I'm moving too North Carolina, yay.
Someone suggested I move to Florida, I said no thanks too much going on over there. Funny thing the other person recommended NC.
This was helpful! We are considering moving to Charlotte from Southern CA. I think it's hilarious when you talk about people there thinking traffic is a lot of cars going 40 mph. LOL That is a good day of traffic here!
So glad this was helpful. Yes, we know about "real" traffic. They haven't seen it here quite yet. LOL. Thanks for watching!
Charlotte is a very nice area with quite alot going on. Much more to offer than Cary, which is more of a suburb of the Raleigh/Durham area. Charlotte is a growing metropolitan area with a great mix of people from many different areas, and is still growing
Dont move to Charlotte the crime is really really really bad especially in the nice suburban areas, lots of carjacking and home invasions.

I was born and raised in North Carolina and I gotta say you two pretty much nailed living here. But you forgot Sweet Tea. Gotta drink Sweet Tea and drink Cheerwine (A NC Produced Soft drink).
So true in so many ways
Well I'm glad at least someone (who isn't old) likes this state! Best luck to you!
+Sarah Thanks! Getting older but not old yet😉

I hate Southern Maine lol.) Great video!
+Ronald Dunwoody how indeed🤔. Thanks for watching!
Try charlotte
if you dont want to get bored just take a 1hr weekend flight to somewhere fun for the day! then come back home to the safe life :)
Exactly! We leave town a lot. It’s so easy because of the location. Thanks for watching!
What types of thing your talking about name them?
Ok, I here ya Lol.
DARK STAR
You two are awesome! Please keep making videos and share to the world! Thank you for this one.
Thanks for watching!
Charlotte is the city in north Carolina
+odestry jam we like Charlotte too but our jobs are based in RTP. Hey, check us out at HeathandTracy.com too. Thanks for watching!
+Simone H this will be a great change for your kids. Good luck on the move! Maybe we can meet up then. Thanks for watching!
You are hilarious with the con list ! I was laughing so hard 🤣 “it’s BORING!!!” 🤣🤣
IT IS! But that also makes it beautiful too! Just a warning.
Sold! Thanks for posting a great video y'all. I think the next move has been decided!
It has! New video coming soon!
+Kendra Stewart it's a beautiful state. Strengths and weaknesses certainly. Thanks so much for watching! Check us out at HeathandTracy.com too.😉
Don’t move to Durham lol.
Charlotte isn't much different and Durham is more suburban. go to SE Raleigh and see how "boring" that will be
trill 1 Durham has extreme crime as well
@@adb8003 not as much as it use to
i live in raleigh, i work in cary and i love it here! yeah it can be boring but i'm o.k. with that!
Truth Cheryl! Thanks for watching!
Moving from the suburbs of Washington D.C. it’s going to be quite a change! Thanks for this video.
Love DC! Yes, get ready! The good news is it’s only 4 hours by car. We go all the time.
HeathandTracyTV that’s good to know!
Hiii! I used to live in Fairfax County and I'm planning to reloc to Raleigh. Def will be a change--but a great one! Best wishes to you!
@@jencolter1785 Thinking about moving from Loudoun. Worried about the overcrowding issue. The same thing I'm trying to avoid now
Just saw this! See you soon!
My husband recommended I watch thus, as we are on our eighth move, and considering NC. He thought the two of you were too cute. And you really are. Thank you for sharing. This was extremely helpful.
+Punky ReggaeParty Thanks so much! Eighth move????!!!! You are professionals! Good luck!
The video description says that you guys have been married 27+ years BUT you guys both look like you're in your 30's!! Salute 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Thank you! We are both OVER 50 and have a 29 year old daughter! Thanks for the love and thanks for watching! 29!years in June!
HeathandTracyTV y’all are Not over 50......can’t be true. You Guys look Great!!!
Don't even consider Orlando Florida... BORING and FL state name should be changed to the "construction state". I'd be happy to switch places.
Pretty Girl_me not true.... very ignorant comment on your part. You're probably too broke to enjoy Fl so you're upset and wanna move.... see ya!
I also live in Cary - this video is spot on.
My fam
Will never leave CA but now I have money left over to go visit them or for them to come here.

I’ve lived in Florida 40 plus years and my husband and I want to get the heck out of here. You want to move here maybe , so funny!
Not so sure anymore, more coins needed! I grew up there so many of the issues transplants have, I grew up with. You would have to admit of the coins are right, there is no better place. Thanks for watching and good luck with the move! NC is the place to be!
I agree I hate FL
Fl isn't for everyone. Go and move elsewhere if you're tired here. < 305 till I die >
Funny, I feel the same way about NY.......it’s sooooooooo different than when I grew up in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
I live 10 hours away from North Carolina and my grandparents that came from there came up to see me. When they were going to drop me off from the hotel they stayed in (I slept over in) they suggested that next week they would pick me up to go with them to North Carolina!
..my parents said no.

We went to NC last year because of Hurricane Irma... and omg what a beautiful state ... we are moving for now to charllote... my husband is leaving this Friday and I'm moving in December with our two kids.
Thanks for the tips Ryan. Will check it out. Thanks for watching!
Much love!

Angela gross why not? There are plenty of singles here.the problem is most of them want to stay single and have extra curricular relationships...hint hint Raleigh is starting to be little ATL with the down low black men...
Why do you say that?
Angela gross its easy
“Atlanta”
Thanks for the insight and thanks for watching!
I am now considering coming to North Carolina
well then you better hurry up b/c the same thing is happening here

I can not wait to move back 😔. I'm in Boston, Ma and it is a nightmare 😢.

Too cold for me too lol. Thank you
Happy I came across your comment. I’m in Boston too and I’m over it. People’s attitudes suck here and it’s screwing with my chakra lol.
I’m in Boston too!! The rent out here is ridiculous. Really looking to move out to NC
I'm in Boston and I've been here too long and I am ready to move. People here are angry and unfriendly and the road rage.

Joy, sounds like you have a plan. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching! All the best!
You’re a beautiful couple 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻many Blessings

Greensboro is nice, but we understand. Thanks for watching!
VERY valuable!!! "real talk"
We appreciate you weighing in Alicia. Thanks 🙏🏽 for watching!

Yayyy!! I literally googled relocating to North Carolina and I see this video and it’s so happened that you made this comment today 😊😊😊 it’s a sign lol 😂
They are coming gurl... you know LIFE.
@@HeathandTracyTV Would it surprise you to learn that there are cities and towns in Canada that historically (normally) enjoy noticeably warmer winters than Cary, NC?
I want to move to North Carolina, but I'm not sure where.... I'm from Louisiana, single mom of four son's. How hard is it to get a job????
Fredricka Johnson what ever you do get out of Louisiana.
Agree 100% Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info! I originally was looking at moving my family to areas outside of Atlanta -Woodstock, Flowery Branch but hearing about the traffic is making me look at Raleigh area now. Appreciate the video! God Bless

It’s everywhere. But it doesn’t stop our family and never will. Keep you head up and move to that spiritual place that the evil of the world doesn’t effect you.
Thanks for the positive response. Imma visit and see what's up. I only ever visit NYC or Miami mostly but I heard good things about NC.

I heared there’s skating rings a lot of family stuff to do there I heard there’s fairs the houses are beautiful the malls are big honestly even if it dose get boring after awhile I would still love it better than Pennsylvania
It’s warmer too! Love the South! Thanks for watching!
Charlotte Has a lot of Action, has affordable housing and is super nice !
currently live in Durham, work in Chapel Hill but I'm dying to move back to Asheville...I love Asheville. I loath the triangle area.
+Saucy Chica we LOVE Asheville!
Saucy Chica why do you loathe it? I was planning on moving there
Bertrand Ferguson III it all depends where you live and work. I am on my way out of here at the end of the year thank God.
i was born in asheville at the mission hospital :)
saucy chica I'm looking at North Carolina and Tennessee to relocate from the ft lauderdale/Miami area.
The cons for North Carolina is the humidity and the pollen .. Other than that NC is good living
Moe it is certainly hot and humid in NC. Thanks for watching!
Love how you guys relationship is so natural. Made it very easy to watch
After 31 years! We love sharing our vibe. Thanks for watching!
RODERICK CONSTANTINO clayton or garner
We agree! Clayton and Garner traffic is some of the worst here in the triangle. We love the Cary - Morrisville Area. Close to RTP, Raleigh and Durham. We are basically in the middle of it all.
Shout out to UNC Chapel Hill! (But I'm a senior at ECU GO PIRATES!!)
UNC & ECU! Wow. Yourself divided...;-)
+chunkymancan12 Thanks for watching!

I live in NC but it is always hot
Yes, it does get pretty hot here. I grew up in Atlanta and Tracy grew up in South Florida so we know HOT! Think cool and leverage the air conditioning ;-). Thanks for watching!
Lightning 21 you live on the wrong side of NC buddy.
Lightning 21 yea it is I can relate
Thank you so much for this video! I'm looking to relocate from ATL to NC (possibly) and I needed your very practical assessment of the area, ESPECIALLY since you already know what Atlanta's like. You two are amazing. Thank you so much! *subscribed*
Thanks so much for the compliment Nola! Lots of great choices. Raleigh Durham, Charlotte, Atlanta is great but has pluses and minuses like anywhere else...All the best to you! Check out HeathandTracy.com and our podcast too. Joyfully Married After on ITunes Google Play and Stitcher...Thanks for watching and subscribing!
