I somehow ended up here while researching the best way to fasten beadboard wainscoting (to glue, or not to glue). I don't remember learning about brad nailers back in kindergarten 🙂. I have a Hitachi air brad nailer that I think was around $50. It works well, but dragging the air hose around, compressor noise, and remembering to add a couple drops of oil are drawbacks. I looked up comparable battery operated, and some are about 4 to 5 times the cost of pneumatic depending on brand. I'll add one to my wish list and wait for a project that justifies the investment. Thanks for taking the time putting together this, and the beadboard video.

I'm glad you found my videos! I really do think the brad nailer is worth the investment. I have had the Ryobi 18 gauge brad nailer which I believe is roughly $134 or $189 with a battery. We have been renovating our entire house and I've used it a ton - baseboards, door trim, accent walls, fencing, and more. :)

The brad nailer shown in the video is different from the one on the link. Looks like the one ok the link is brushless. What is the difference between both?

I have the older version. The new version is what I linked and is brushless. Brushless tools are a higher performing tool. They have removed the brushes from the motor so there is no friction, less heat and are more efficient than motors with brushes.

My Ryobi frequently just doesn't work. Not dead battery, not a jam. It just doesn't work. Then I let it sit for a minute, and it will work again. Frustrating and time waster. Do you know what's up with that?

I haven't had a single issues with any of their tools and I own a lot of them. I know with my brad nailer that if I don't have the tip (where the nail comes out) pressed all the way in and straight (not at an angle) then it won't fire. It's actually a safety thing they have setup in it. But if you have a tool not working, definitely reach out to their customer service on their website. I know they will repair or replace almost every tool for you that is not operating correctly.
