Easy Chevron Accent Wall - No Power Tools!!
This “sharpie chevron wall” is an easy, beginner accent wall that does not require any power tools! This gives a faux wallpaper look with paint markers but can easily be painted over in the future, unlike wallpaper.

This is beautiful unfortunately we don’t have alot of this soft wood options in Ghana yet
Wow. Thank you! You put everything in simple terms and your instructions were clear and precise even for a beginner like me. Much appreciated!
Outdated yes, cheap no no no, extremely expensive!!! 😭
Ok this is by far one of the best step by step tutorials. Very doable. Off to Home Depot I go! Thanks!
Awesome!❤

After installing the beadboard, you put the trim on. was the top of the trim flush with the beadboard? Or how was it positioned on top?
I got 5 uncut panels in my Nissan Pathfinder 😂 It took a lot of muscle and sweat to get them in the SUV. Next time, I'm having them cut down.
sound 0 speed 2 )
LOOKS PHENOMENAL and COMPLETELY UPDATED
Where did you buy the panels?
I found them on Amazon. These: amzlink.to/az0Xaeekm18jy
Girl if you don’t go wash that paint brush off 🤣🤣🤣 I’m sorry but why would we preserve the paint on the brush. It’s ok to clean it I promise.
I do! lol! I was just showing this option in case someone got interrupted while painting and needed to step away for a short period of time :)
Wow! Very helpful. I feel like I can now proceed with my project. Thank you
I'm so glad it was helpful!
It’s lovely and I’m a fan of the old tile if the clean up and aren’t cracked, especially that hex or honeycomb.. whichever it is. I’m also a fan of wallpaper!
Thank you! :)
Did you sand it
No, you should not have to sand interior walls before or while painting. The only thing you might need to sand is if you fill in a hole in the wall with nail hole filler. Then after the nail hole filler is dry, you would want to lightly sand it to smooth that down before painting.
What color/paint did you use?
This was called Oakmoss by Sherwin Williams.
OMG! I lllllooooovvveee it! my favorite color is green ! it is sssssooooo cute!
Thank you! :)
Well done
Thank you!
Would inch calculator system worh exact same way if u were doing a stairs
Yes, it would be helpful to use it to determine how many vertical pieces you will be using and the gap you will need between each board.
Love it!
I am new to the channel and I have enjoyed the few videos that I have seen of yours thus far. I am now a fan for sure. You have given me great inspiration and I’m ready to go to work on my new home. Thank you and I look forward to your videos.
Thank you so much! I am so glad they have been helpful!
Your video helps me a lot. I come to feel more comfortable and confident in painting. Let’s go shopping for paint!!!
Yay! I am so happy it was helpful!
I have a chair rail on the wall I want to install this beadboard on. Can the board be cut to make it shorter? The height from baseboard to chair rail is only 28".
Yes, absolutely! Just cut your boards to the height you need.
where did you get your overall?
You can get them off Amazon - amzlink.to/az0XdzLfLQ66b
Thanks really hope I can do..... this was sooo helpful THANKS nice job
Thank you!
Nice
Your tutorials are the absolute best! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!
Thanks for a detailed video. I have a craft room 8'x7', which i am planning to add the bead panels. How do you suggest handling the corners? If two walls meeting at a corner and both needs to be put bead board?
I would just butt the boards up together in the corner and caulk the corner like you would where two boards meet.
What about the use of different screws for wood vs concrete surfaces ?
Yep you'd want to use wood screws on wood and a Tapcon screw with a hex head for concrete. Great idea for another video!
Made me chuckle..I'm just starting my big diy journey..I think there might be similar things happening ha
How much wood did you use?
I think I ended up using 11-12 boards. This particular wall was 10ft wide and 8ft tall.
Nice video for a beginner like myself
Straight to the point, practical tips, no fluff-this is the best video on the topic so far!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!
Would love info on the brick wall!? SO cool.
I have a full tutorial for that one: th-cam.com/video/DFZvoTWOU-c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZZ-z9bSXSO6R5X9m
I recently bought a house and have just started the renovation process. However the walls are made out of concrete and are pretty slippery. How and where would I start I’m so confused and new to this somebody please help 😂
If the concrete has a slippery finish, I would first paint it with Zinsser BIN Shellac Primer and then with your wall paint. The shellac primer is a bonding primer and will ensure that your new paint adheres to the wall without chipping off.
😮
Quick tip they sell plastic ones so you don’t have to wrap it in electrical tape we call them spark rings. You can get them at a local electrical supply house. That’s what we do in all of our new construction. 😊
Thank you so much!! :)
GREAT tutorial! The best I've come across yet.
Thank you so much!
Sand in between coats . You did not 😢 After 1st coat is dry do a light sand and wipe down with a moist cloth ring dry so the other coat can bond with your coat that is dry
I have never heard of anyone sanding interior walls between painting. I have hired professional painters in the past as well and they did not sand between coats. The only time I sand between paint coats is when I am painting furniture and need a super sleek finish.
Why not paint the paneling before installation
You totally could. Whatever you prefer!
You did a couple of things wrong but okay
🙏✝️💟
Great tutorial! My only question is since you did not use the plywood board, what paint did you use on the wall? Trim or wall paint and what sheen?
On this wall I used the same Satin sheen paint on the wall, trim and baseboard.
Something I found helpful (after watching your videos and doing this at home! TY!) Was to take my first 4 pieces and use those to dry fit my other boxes. They fit perfect in some, so I was able to save time and use those measurements!
That is very smart and a great idea!
What color did you paint that room
It is called Mount Etna by Sherwin Williams.
I am planning on doing something similar but on the top half putting some flat paneling. My current wall is very textured. Would it look strange installed with the bottom board and top being the same depth?
No I don't think it will look strange at all if they are the same depth. It will look great!
Hi again Ashley, I am doing a medium size bathroom in B&B : I have a 60 inch double sink vanity with a back splash . I was planning on putting the vertical boards about half way up, which makes them only about 6 inches above the back splash. I will have to see how it looks, but wanted to know if you had any thoughts on this . I have an oval mirror above each sink - could I just skip the section where the vanity is? I will of course decide, but wanted your opinion. Thanks so much in advance !!!
Yes you could skip the area where the vanity is. I’d do the other wall first and see how you like the look. As far as how far up the wall, a lot of designers recommend closer to 2/3 of the wall for board and batten, but you can do whatever you like best! I think I went about 60% of the wall in my son’s bedroom.
❤Thanks so much for your time and helpful information. I am an experienced DIY'er, but not as great at design 😀
Im a professional painter 35 years good job you do need to cut your ceiling better to jagged
Omg thank you- we did this but with the very difficult diamond pattern 😅
