I'm not a singer but I have an idea how. You see, I've given eulogies for my mom and brother. And I knew I needed to figure out how to deliver them while keeping my composure (for the record, I broke down when each of them died, in the hospital with mom and on the phone for my brother). Here's how I kept my cool - I told myself that this was their time, their day to honor, and not mine time to draw attention to my feelings; I had plenty of time for that before and after. So I sort of just shut down my emotions while I gave their eulogies. I suspect a singer goes through something of the same when dealing with emotional material such as Honey.

He drove my brother and I nuts. lol. not today, me being the last one left of that family, I can't get through this song without crying, wishing I could hear dad hum this once again. I was 12 years old when this song came out in 1970 and have been crying just about everytime I have heard it since then but really hit home this time because my wife of 30 years passed away just over a year ago just shy of her 60th birthday. It's truly hard to deal with the loss of someone who spent half of their life with you and now they are gone and all you have are your memories together.
It makes many of us cry bc we have lost a love.

I just sent this to her and I told her I teared up watching it today as she did 20 years ago and asked her to watch it. Bobby Goldsboro was a great singer and he had some real tear-jerker songs. I suggest "Watching Scotty Grow" another great song by Bobby.
