I’m an 80’s baby and I think todays music stinks. There is no originality is music now. There are very few distinctive artists these days. And everything is auto tuned. I love music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s because of the originality and no one sounded like each other. Songs also had more meaning to them.

As much as everyone loves that great deep voice of Bill’s and the “baby, baby…I’ll get down on me knees for you”…Bobby rips people up with those highs…and so easily is able to harmonize back lower with Bill in the mid-range. Two fantastic talents that made a perfect duet.

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 73 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary.
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century
"Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance.
Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers.
In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

Bobby vs Bill is an unfair comparison - Bobby can go higher with his falsetto, but if Bill went lower only whales and elephants could hear him.

The Brothers were pure singing talent. What a time to be a young teenager with these guys, Motown, the British invasion, and on and on. We only had AM radio then and little transistor radios but it was one hit after another with new songs and artists every day. I'm not fond of the body feeling old and achy at times but my mind makes me still feel like a teenager, lol. Very happy young folks can and do appreciate these artists.

Young women who see this for the first time love them... They all of a sudden become much more feminine and look happy... The two were extremely talented and masculine, something most young women were taught is a bad thing and has vanished from society..... Turns out they like it a lot... Take care 2519.

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Best Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 88 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary.

    • @luvanime1986

I apologize for making the 88 key reference, not looking down the comments and seeing that you had already made the reference 3 weeks before me. Sorry, my friend. I'm 57 and had parents very much into music of the 50's and 60's and so I had grown up a huge fan of the Righteous Brothers, who were a favorite of my stepmother. So when I moved out of the house after high school, I took my stepmother's 3 original 33rpm vinyl LP's (she wasn't nice to us kids so I felt justified! lol) and still have them today!

This is why their known as the Dynamic Duo! This song was the #1 requested song to radio stations in the 20th century. I've been a big fan since 1964, still am. Hard to believe Bill Medley deep voice is now 81. He's doing 10 shows in FL at the present time. Sadly not with Bobby Hatfield but Bucky Heard. Bobby sadly passed in 2003. Sadly missed, was one of the best.

Everything about this song is perfect. Barry Mann's melody, Cynthia Weill's amazing lyrics, Gene Page's arrangement, Phil Spector's production, the studio group led by drummer Earl Palmer and pianist Leon Russell, the backup vocals by the Blossoms and of course Bill Medley's baritone lead vocal and Bobby Hatfield's tenor. This song is a 3 minute 50 second miracle.
