Hi Laura. In my household we speak highly of you and how far you can go. I just want to say I'm proud and glad that you did make it to the cooking channel. I'm watching your "Laura's leftovers" episode now and you inspire me. You show me with hard work, family and faith that anything is possible. I love seeing women win. Stay blessed.
i made this recipe today and its perfect! I have tried at least 3 recipes in the past and ended up going to the trash. her technique for rolling the dough and using the index fingers for doing the hole are great. easy to do and tastes great. your recipes never dissapoint. thank you!
Madelyn Trujillo How tf else would you do it though?
A Dream uiy
A Dream you could roll them into cylinders and seal the ends into a ring shape xD
I have been making this bagel recipe for YEARS and it never misses! I could listen to Laura Vitale all dang day!
I made these and they are to die for, I put caraway seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, a pepper mix and crushed dry onions on the top. I added about a tsp. of garlic juice into the dough. I toasted them and put cream cheese on them after they baked and cooled. The best bagel I've ever had. Thank you Soo much.
PS.. My adult son put sliced turkey and cheese on them for a sandwich too!
Gawd that sounds so yummy.
Thank you so much Laura!! I just made these and they were absolutely wonderful!! I did have to end up using maybe 1/2 cup more flour in the kitchen aid, but the dough still did not come together like yours did in a ball, so I scraped it out and put on the floured counter and kneaded it until it became very smooth. I made 6 big bagels with caraway, poppy, and sesame seeds. My dad says these were the best bagels he's ever eaten. My only complaint is these didn't last long in my house. Everyone gobbled them up!!
Am I the only one who says with her "hi guys I am Laura Vitale on this episode of Laura in The Kitchen i am going to show you how to make..." Hahahaha she says it everytime! LOL
I do that too! 😂
leticia amanda paasaqq
I do! My niece thinks im crazy 😂😂
I do that too !!M🤗
Just start watching & I do too... Lo
Made them three times without a stand mixer (like 12 minutes by hands) and they turned out perfect every time! Thank you kitchen queen 👸🏻🥖
you are now on cooking channel ive been watching you for years and learned so much ! so happy for you. wow!
You are legitimately my hero. Every single recipe of yours I ever do is a SMASH hit. Keep the recipes coming!!!
I make this recipe over and over and over again for years now. It never fails, it always comes out the same. It always always succeeds. Give it a try.
I am exactly that way too Laura. I like my food to look home made instead of instagram ready. The flavor and the texture are what's really important. Don't forget the love that goes into it.
I made these today. PERFECT!!!! will be writing this recipe down in my absolute favs book. I feel writing it down in this age of all things digital shows how much one loves a recipe.
+Hicca Doodle Doo my heart is soooo happy to hear that!!
THANKYOU for making authentic bagels -- the kind that are boiled and then baked! YUM. Believe it or not, it is hard to find authentic bagels in the Seattle area, so a few years ago, I had to start making my own (what is it with bagels that AREN'T boiled , but that's all our grocery stores carry here). The crust is fantastic. I will try your dough recipe as yours seem to puff up better than mine. Thanks for this one, Laura!
I love that you are spreading awareness about perfectionism, bagel look beautiful, with different size and colour and most importantly homemade.
I made them today...turned out great. Just had to adjust my cooking time and rack placement. My heating element is on the top (newer double oven). Love Love Love...keep em coming!!
Hi! I tried your bagel recipe today !!! Being super excited with my new kitchen aid mixer I misread the recipe and added honey to the yeast and warm water . Once , I realized , I added only one teaspoon of sugar not full amount. The rest of the recipe was followed closely lol. Let me tell you !!! They are the bomb!!!! Super soft and chewy and amazing flavor !!! Try it with my mistake , you might like it !!
😊😊😊😊
It is almost like you can read minds. Every time I want to learn how to do something, not too much time passes before you upload a tutorial. I'm amazed right now! Thanks for this recipe Laura.
Truly one of the best cooking demonstrations I've seen. Excellent job.
I just wanted to say that I loved your video and the recipe is great. I'm not sure why, maybe cause I live in Toronto, we have different brands of bread flour (used Robin Hood) here, but the dough following the recipe exactly was to wet to even work with, I ended up adding an additional 3/4 cup of Bread flour, also I kneaded it by hand. It seemed to work out just great, the bagels came out amazing, and being a former New Yorker, they were the closest I've had to an Ess A Bagel since I left NYC 16 years ago. Thanks again for the great video. Also just for kicks I used Buckwheat honey, which has deep dark colour like liquid malt.
Ahh yes! Another recipe going straight to my heart. Bagels are such a treat! Please make a whole wheat bagel if you can!!! Thanks Laura!
I just tried this recipe. I’ve tried a lot of different bagel recipes and this is the first one I’ve had great success with. They were great!
Thanks Laura
Newly baked bread is just a joy in the morning! I looove bagels 😍
Thanks for the great video! I baked my first ever bagels, following your instructions. Although I tweaked it a little bit: I used spelt flower (50% wholemeal and 50% white spelt flour). They turned out delicious!!
My son & I have eaten these a million times ! Breakfast recipe ever xx
Made these during the beginning of the pandemic and they were amazing! The best bagels I’ve ever had. Going to make them again tomorrow.
Great bagel recipe, Laura! Very simple, and this is the first time I’ve made bagels and they turned out the way I wanted! I used one cup of whole wheat flour and they came out great.
I enjoy watching all of your cooking show episodes, Laura! Your techniques are at a professional level. You have done a great job with each and every one of the demonstrations! Good work.

Hi, Laura! If you are reading this, I want to let you know that you are my FAVORITE youtuber. When I opened youtube today, literally every single "recommended video" was yours ahaha (of course I'd already watched them all)
As a former New Yorker, this recipe makes incredibly happy. Thank you!
Those are the most gorgeous bagels I have ever seen! I am dying to try them - thanks for sharing this Laura!
I have made these several times and they are always a hit. I deliver a batch or two to my husband's workplace but it's always in the afternoon by the time I get done with them. I would love to be able to send them to work with him in the morning so that the guys can have them for breakfast. Can you make the dough the night before and just boil and bake in the morning? I've watched other videos that allow for that but most of them include malt powder. Does that make a difference in whether you can make the dough the night before?
Just made a batch and they are cooling! My kitchen smells amazing. Thank you for making it easy-was a bit nervous about attempting bagels.
Hi I make this all time. My family loves them. Thank you for sharing. The recipe is spot on. You Rock.
I make and sell sourdough bagels in my small community, and I use all purpose flour. Leathery exterior and a chewy inside. I make Jumbo (25Oz) and Regular (5Oz) -- Everything and Cinnamon Raisin Bagels. I do let it rise 6 to 8 hours (4 hours before shaping, and 4 hours after shaping), and I boil for 4.5 minutes.
Love this. God bless. Love how Laura says Baegul. ♡
Thank you for the recipe! I baked this few hours ago came out so good. Your bagel version is easy to follow.
Handled that bagel dough with such confidence! Reminded me of how easy you make it look to handle pizza dough! Cross cultural dough master! Thank you!
awwww..... all these years and you're only now teaching us bagels???? about time laura!!! btw.. love your make up.
Hi Laura
Thank you for your recipe. My bagels came out so good. I love it .
Just made these!!! they came out perfect...easy recipe !!!! your the best!!💟.
Thank you very much for this video. I've always wanted to make bagels, but never got around to doing it. I've tried some of your recipes with great results. I just love your presentations!
We made these today following your recipe exactly and they're AWESOME! First time ever making them and we're blown away, thank you for making it so easy :)!
A friend bought me a bagel the other day (I believe from Panera Bread) and it had a cinnamon brown sugar streusel on top with hazel nut cream cheese and it was delicious!
I love all your baking, I tried and made pretty much of your recipe thanks a lot for sharing. This is my next one.
I tried the recipe today and the result was really good! Thank you for sharing!
I just HAD to try these out the minute you posted it, Laura.
Absolutely love them~
Wow, Laura you make it look easy. I have been very reluctant to make this cos all the demos I have seen make it look complicated. I even found the one by one of my famous English (he was at a food show last year) Chefs even hard. Thanks for this easy to follow video. I will make these when I have got more than a couple of days off, lol.
Laura you out did yourself!!!
So amazing!
Thanks for sharing
Laura you are amazing!!!!
I have made your recipes and it has gotton so many complements.

There aren't bagels sold where I live and I would LOVE to try one. But not sure if I have time. Laura, you come up with great recipes!!
Brilliant - exactly what I needed. Thank you so much Laura. Excellent explanation and video guide as always. Making them this afternoon....
Love this recipe. I make it all the time. My family and friends love it. Thank you for sharing. This recipe is spot on. God bless. You Rock.

Great bagel video Laura, thanks for all the tips~
Laura it is so nice and easy to make bagal if I follow you. So natural. Thanks
God I love this woman !!! Thank you so much ! Will be making this soon !!! You never dissapoint !!!
great recipe! definitely use bread flour as all purpose is not the same. I used one cup of whole grain flour and the rest bread flour and they turned out great but they weren't as round and risen as laura's, was that due to the whole wheat flour?
It seems like you make a lot of trial before putting out a recipe since you point out very useful and practical tips!! Love that!!!!
Definitely going to try this out soon. Looks amazing👍
Hi Laura! Just to let you know I made these with Spelt flour kneading by hand for only 8 minutes to make a smooth dough (muscles were aching lol) No one realised it was Gluten free so I will have to disagree. You don't need the gluten came out Perfectly the same :)
Those are gorgeous. Have you ever tried using baking soda (I have used) or lye (which I have never used).
I have never used honey and curious what the difference honey would make.
any advice would be greatly appreciated from your paisano in Georgia!
you mentioned onion or garlic might burn and to add later. How do you do that exactly? wait to add the eggwash and seasoning until 1/2 cooked?
It is so hard to get a good bagel in Texas, and for this NY born and raised boy that is a shame but thanks to this I may start making my own.
LOVE this recipe! Such a simple bagel recipe but so so delicious
Laura I made your recipe today they loved them thanks
Great recipe demo, Laura! Thanks!
You know, I've always been desperate to make bagels at home, but have thought them far too difficult. You make it look just easy enough that I may try it. Thanks!
Love a great bagel recipe! Thanks for another fantastic recipe and video!
Laura, Hello I never made bagels before and these look so easy to make. If I wanted to put nuts and raisins and cinnamon in them what would I do and how much of each should I put in the dough mixture? Your bagels look delicious. If I use Whole Wheat flour how much different would the recipe be? Please get back with me. Thank you.
Hi Laura, I'm all the way in Mexico and I really thank you for your tips!!!!

Thank you so much for this wonderful bagel recipe. I make them twice a week and my family loves them. I will never buy packaged bagels again!
they came out amazing!!! thank you Laura!!I used 3/4 brown flour too 'cause I finish the bread flour .Still amazing
Hello Laura,
Thank you for this recipe, I love making these bagels. I have two questions, one if I want to double the recipe would I double the yeast as well???? Second, I am using High Gluten Flour, should I make any adjustments to this recipe???? Bread Flour is expensive for a small bag, and I can find bigger bags of flour cheaper. I bought ADM Gigantic High Gluten Flour.
Thank you for any advice.
Can't wait to try this recipe but I am curious about making other flavors. How would you convert the recipe to make a cinnamon raisin bagel?
wow you are good with that I love bagels I always buy bagels from Tim Horton but now I am going to tried them thank you very much chef🌷🌷👍👍
