Since I didn't see it answered, in this context the "Face" of the group means that Yuqi is the member who most often represents the group in media appearances, variety shows and other events. This is partly due to her outgoing personality and partly because she speaks fluent Korean, English and Chinese, so she can communicate well to three very large groups of fans. As the group has gotten older, the other members have been doing more individual appearances as well, but I still think Yuqi is considered the primary media representative.
I love how right away you picked up on them all sounding a little different because that's something they really emphasize. They didn't want to sound similar. Also love that you called Miyeon a princess because that's exactly how she's always portrayed in the group! Shuhua wasn't given many lines early on because she was bullied pretty badly for not pronouncing the Korean words "properly" (she's from Taiwan) so she lost her confidence. She used to ask for no lines and to be in the back of dances but lately she has been absolutely dominating with her charisma. It's great to see.
There are a few things to know about (g)i-dle going forward. Most importantly, Soyeon is a genius who has had to fight for her--and (g)i-dle's success. As a child, Soyeon first showed talent for dance, then music, and as a teenager became a standout rapper. However when she first started in the industry she met rejection and social media abuse because of her non-standard appearance and strong, assertive personality. (The (g)i-dle songs/MVs for 'Allergy' and 'Queencard'--which form a connected sequence, in that order--incorporate aspects of her story and experiences.) In some ways, (g)i-dle was put together by its company, Cube, out of spare parts. Miyeon, who fits the conventional beauty standards for kpop idols, had originally been in line to become the fifth member of Blackpink, but something (?) happened, so she left YG and was picked up by Cube. As (g)i-dle was formed, three of the members were foreigners, of course, with Shuhua in particular struggling with Korean language, and Soyeon herself was originally signed by Cube as a solo rapper. After (g)i-dle was formed, Cube originally failed to provide good support, including an acceptable debut song, and Soyeon finally wrote Latata herself, though she had limited experience as a songwriter. Thereafter Soyeon quickly became (g)i-dle's primary writer, composer and producer, largely responsible for the group's overall concept and MVs. The songs you chose show fairly well the arc of her early development, and Soyeon's rap in Lion is a pretty clear public declaration of her intent to overcome obstacles and succeed. Subsequently, however, Soojin was forced out by Cube in response to a bullying scandal, and many people thought the group would collapse, but after a hiatus Soyeon pulled the group back together and crafted 'Tomboy' as a comeback hit. Besides Tomboy, Allergy and Queencard, I recommend the choreograpy/performance video for 'My Bag', where Soyeon gives each member an individual spotlight, before working up to the new releases of 'Wife' and 'Super Lady'. latata m/v is so funny LOL, there's so little budget for the m/v, none of the outfits apart from the pink ones r cohesive. CUBE literally didn't have a debut song for them so soyeon had to write it herself 😂 (shes completely in charge of their concepts n title tracks n a fully recognized KOMCA member w tons of writing n producing credits) n now theyve come so far n r so successful, but u can totally tell how the budget increases as they progress thru comebacks/albums. and yeah, senorita m/v was sponsored by Kaja beauty (the makeup brand), u were right + that's why its higher production quality compared to their first two m/vs LOL. One of the things that makes them really stand out is that Soyeon has had an incredible amount of creative control throughout, mostly due to the support of the members. They began with very little budget for their music videos, however there was a definite turning point when they got the sponsorship deal for "Senorita". You stopped one short of one of their most artistic MVs- "oh my god" is incredible. Their first proper comeback after Soojin - "Tomboy" - also sees a massive jump in their MVs.

38:10 Lady Gaga came to mind right before you said it, and I'd say it's fairly accurate but Soyeon is a little more uhhh... holstered :) She's also the songwriter/producer for most of (G)I-DLE's songs similar to how Lady Gaga forced her way into discovery through songwriting, and writes very empowering lyrics for females as well (and not corny ones, ones that you can enjoy as any kind of listener).
And yeah, "Senorita" is an example of shameless product advertisement butted in a mv with great imo, tho Gidle said themselves they hate this song 😂

Soyeon wrote songs I think only starting from Lion/Uh-oh, they all write a bit here and there, but further Soyeon became more stable lyricist and producer of the group. I think it's obvious at the beginning that their concepts were messy with Latata, Senorita and Hann, cause those were songs given to them by their company and as a result shot and produced by their company too (And it's known fact among the industry that Cube ent. is not a good agency that usually forgets about their artists and is very negligent about them) Great detailed reaction tho! 🙌🏻

Edgy is an appropriate term as u continue deep dive into gidle coz they highlight very sensitive n social topics that usually people refrain from talkin about out loud. Very empowering outfit this group is. Yuqi with the most unique voice stands out for me. I do suggest u look into tomboy, nxde n queencard.. also definitely give deep dive into aespa a try, they're pretty unique in their own rights with impeccable vocals.

You should really increase the overall levels of your videos. Your voice and the music are about perfectly aligned but I have to turn my phone to max (literally) to be at a normal listening volume. At least on my android cellphone through earbuds. I would kind of expect this loudness I'm getting from maxing it out when my phone is at 50% or 60%.

there was a Time when (G)I-dle made THE MUSIC, pure quality and fun in one! I was HUGE stan...now im just common listner of their songs, too much westernized sounds, too much agenda pushing ...they lost after loosing Soojin.
