Found your channel a few weeks ago and really enjoy it. High yield guy myself still haven't reached my goal yet but getting closer. It's nice to watch and hear other farmers experience's without feeling robbed to do it. I have been approached several times to join Total Acre but just don't think its right to charge a large sum of money to attend a class. Keep up the good work.
You’re the greatest man…just the transparency of how management is supposed to be done the correct way. So much attention to detail is key to raising a successful crop. Thanks for the knowledge and transparency😎😎
I enjoy watching the repairs! I learn alot from watching others, never had anyone to teach me growing up so I learn from videos. Have a Merry Christmas!
I’d like to see a video explaining the energy use of the gin and costs associated with it. Especially the dates you can run it because of the demand charge and how that works. If remember my granddad talking about that when our gin was running but never understood it
Our demand is $24,000 and TVA fuel charge is $16,000. That doesn’t include electric usage. If we go over one minute into January we pay that plus what usage we have. Now that TVA reads it electronically, we have no wiggle room to run over a day. This year we will have 4 months of it. During the off months we can only start so much of our machinery at one time so we don’t hit that peak to initiate the demand.
@@TheCropCritic I think a video explaining all of that would be enlightening to viewers. I have more questions from viewers about the cotton process than anything else
Merry Christmas Reed family! I would like to see a couple planter videos, I’m upgrading my planter too, besides you guys haven’t made a bad video yet! Congrats again with those yield #’s👍🏻
Thanks for sharing, really impressed with how transparent you are! A lot to learn, looking forward to some maintenance videos! Super impressive numbers all around
That was my goal when I started this channel. I wanted to be as transparent as possible and educate people without charging a membership fee. Not many people would show their yield data on the whole farm.
We can actually do most things together without an argue. Friday night we spent 3 hours getting a rusted shaft out of a roller for the gin. Both of our brains and bodies got it finished. Thank you for watching. Erin
Congratulations on your yields. They were amazing. Great video and very educational. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Do you still have to have a cotton base when you grow it?
Hope to see you in January Eric and Erin. Those repair videos are very informative.I have Learned several hacks from RRR Farms,Southern Farmer,Field Rows, and Conley Banman. Also Learned a lot from you in soybeans and corn header updates.
So if we're already doing a split application of nitrogen (at planting then over the top as tall as we can get over it) and then we're doing an application of fungicide and foliar feed at tassel, when would you suggest the terramar application if a guy was open to trying it, just when it gets over a certain temp?
There is no wrong time to apply. I always let the weather dictate when I’m going to put it on. The thing is you have to be ahead of the curve being in front of stress. I split apply mine.
Eric, for your information. I do not see a line in the viewing. Erin, I heard Eric say it. You can not be replaced. I would have to agree with him. When a man has a person like yourself working for them. It makes their job easier and also makes them work harder.
That’s some awesome cotton yields. Y’all are picking up our slack in central and south ms. Lots of 6-700lb cotton around here. Our worst cotton crop in decades here
Everything was a 3 to 1 return on investment. If it wasn’t profitable there would be a auction sign in my driveway. You have to remember I band everything not broadcasting.
What product are you using to burn your beans and at what stage? I’m curious on your nitrogen comments on them also I had seen a few trails on them with little response. Do you have any suggestions to add nitrogen to them without using the planter? My bean planter is a 6/11 and my 2x2 is dry on the corn rows. Thanks for putting all this information out I’m a big fan of your channel
We use Cobra. It has to be at the 5th trifoliate. I wouldn’t put nitrogen on unless it was through the 2x2. Beans don’t make enough nitrogen to obtain 100 bushel beans. I offer that in the beginning when they haven’t started making nitrogen yet.
@@TheCropCritic do you see any difference in the nitrogen on good ground versus marginal ground? I’m in Iowa but have a very diverse soil profiles. Everything from beautiful black gumbo to stuff I should just give back to the natives. I have a pretty good system going on my corn but struggle on maximizing my beans. In this area everyone is focused on corn yields and gives very little to maximizing bean yields which I think has a greater ROI potential. Thanks for the response!
It’s tough to film around there this time of the year. Everyone is tired and ill. Everyone is ready to be done and still have 10,000 more bales to go. They would run me out of there if I brought a camera in there!!
Start after the last frost. I usually lose this battle and guess every spring. I try to push it closer each time because I know how much I can gain from 1 week head start.

That’s the whole reason I started this channel. To educate people how to obtain high yields FREE OF CHARGE!!!

Thank you! When I started this I told everyone that I would show everything!! Not many people would actually tell you the truth on everything.
I enjoy watching the repairs! I learn alot from watching others, never had anyone to teach me growing up so I learn from videos. Have a Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!!
Congratulations on a great year. You all put in the work and that is what it takes to be successful.
And I will watch whatever you feel like taping.
Thanks bud. Just feel like some of the shop stuff gets boring. Same ole stuff being worked on.
You put it on I will watch it thank you God bless you and your family
10:4. Merry Christmas
thank yall for all you do in trying to teach us more .about the crops .hope you all a merry Chirstmas
Thank you. Merry Christmas to all of y’all!!

Honestly it would shock the world at the expense. People think they have high electric bills trying paying Erin’s electric bill!!!!
@@TheCropCritic yeah I know it’s high. I think James at the Humboldt gin told me it’s around $40K/month in electricity and they have solar panels too

Thank you. Definitely be so very detailed planter videos coming after the first of the year. We have to do a total rebuild of all the wear points.

No base’s anymore. You better know how to farm instead of depending on the government!
Remarkable yields, Congratulation's. What is your CEC levels in your soil?
1% or less

Just curious how your input cost coincide with the yields, were all your input cost profitable?
Everything was a 3 to 1 return on investment. If it wasn’t profitable there would be a auction sign in my driveway. You have to remember I band everything not broadcasting.
What’s your cotton population? Any ThryvOn varieties? I’ve been able to plant them for several years now very impressed with them
40,000 population. No thrive on. It’s just uncharted waters on yield around here.

Yes. 10 to 12 bushel increase all on all types of soil. I run it on every acre.
Keep it up Eric love the info. You and your family have a Very Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas. Thank you!!
Unless i missed it what happened to your truck that was stolen did you get another one tks from wva.
We haven’t replaced it yet. Just now got settled on it.
When you were talking about the soybeans you said you burned them back can you explain that I grow peanuts and what I use would kill soybeans
You can go back and watch it in a episode in the early spring. I explained it all. It’s too much to comment out on here.
Merry Christmas!!
You too !
Love to see a video from the gin factory! Merry Christmas

I didn't catch the video earlier how did the moldboard plowed corn ground yield compared to the ripped ground
14 bushel increase.
Nice 👍👍 I've always said people that wanted to get rid of plows altogether were crazy
I want to see the tractor, planter and brush hog its all part of the farmers life.
10:4. We are going to try our best to put 1 video out a week. We are still ginning and all of us are beat!!
I knew nothing about cotton till this fall. Still don't know a lot but it sure is interesting.
Definitely a different crop that’s very interesting!! It’s what made me who I am. Just learned how to grow high yielding corn along the way.
Eric what was the Paramaribo for soybeans. Not finding it. Thanks, Eric
TerraMarr??
Yes, I just didn't know how to spell it. Thanks
It’s made by Agrecin and is designed to relieve stress off of the plant. 💯 great product
Nice video
Thanks
Will the frost kill the beans are start after the last frost
Start after the last frost. I usually lose this battle and guess every spring. I try to push it closer each time because I know how much I can gain from 1 week head start.
winter is shop work time show them i like those too .can aways learn somthing that you might not know
