Am sooo happy to find this video.. it’s the first and probably the only one that actually use a normal needle to make a wig .. I thought I was the only one 😅
This process is called ventilating. You can get a ventilating hook, which is a metal wire bent into an L shape. The hairs are not just pulled through the 'cells' of the tool, but folded in half and looped through the cell. This keeps the hair in place and stops it from spreading out like yours does in the video; it keeps the hairs coming out from the fabric perpendicularly. Then, you can additionally secure the hairs using glue or liquid latex on the inside.
Cosmetologist here, this "skin top" is actually called "A lace front." Lace front wigs use lace, and in which you use a ventilation hook to hook hair through the lace with and into a knot. What you are doing here with your needle is basically doing a lace front wig ventilation. You can search tutorials on lace front wigs to learn more. You would have a easier time if you bought a hook for this instead of a needle. :) Good luck
Thanks for the information!! My knowledge of wigs is pretty much limited to buying and making them for dolls, so some of the terms I've seen are subject to questionable translations into English. Most of the terms are beyond me, but I'm learning!
You are a genius I love this method 💡👍🏻💗 I trying to make a different method before it was ventilation the hair through Lace, some of Wigs Companies they make it for some people 👴🏼👦🏻 This kind of wigs It looks very realistic and very expensive 💸 I trying to make one for my dolls but it's It takes a long time to be completed but I decided to make a small part To cover the top section of the wig 🙇🏽
I think version three of my girl's wig will be made like this. maybe I might have a play at making a middle parting using this too... but will have to work it all out haha.
have you ever thought about making a lacefront wig for a doll? it takes quite a while but being able to have a wig for your doll that can you can part everywhere in the front while looking natural would be pretty awesome. btw: thanks for all the great tutorials you made. they helped me alot! :D
I have considered it! I have everything I need to do it, it's just soooo time-consuming that I don't know when I would get it done ^^; Anyway, thank you for your kind words!
Haha, yeah. I just had a plain veil, but it got torn when I tried to get into the car! I can never throw away perfectly good material, though, so I kept it to re-use for smaller things. Tulle is surprisingly useful.
I love this idea of making a lace mesh for a natural part. I'm confused as to why you spent all that time pulling through a few hairs at a time only to finish it by pulling huge clumps through? I just don't get it. It's still a very interesting video, thank you for posting it!
@@redmarilynn I don't know, it seemed like that's the way she does them. Even if she spent more time on one and added more hair, she would still ruin it at the end with the clumps pulled through. This video is a few years old, though, so maybe she uses a different method now.
