HYVE Glock Magazine Extension Install & Review

  • Follow along as I take a look at and install the HYVE Glock magazine baseplate extension, +1 for the G19, G23, G26, G27, G33, G36.
    While it certainly looks nice and appears well made, the fitment is less than stellar and a bit disappointing. They do work, though. However, I expect more at this price point, but what do I know? We'll see how the G43 extensions look and work in another video.
    Thanks for watching!

    I have 3 of these extensions on my Glock 43 mags....No problems whatsoever they fit and feel great.
    There is no need to have a grip plug in your gun with the Hyve extensions it covers the grip very well to keep dirt and debris out.

    I have installed two of these HYVE 1 round extensions on my G43 Mags and I had No trouble at all and they work great! One thing I noticed was mine did not have that plug with the set screw and I think my extensions have been updated by HYVE and this part is no longer on the newer version. Once you push them into place, they click on and will never move off the base.

      Glad to hear it and about the upgrade! I still use the Hyve extension and it works fine, but the G27 is just a backup carry option and not my main carry other than in the summer.

    The "grip plug" is a misleading sales item... I'm a certified glock armor and I can tell you the chanel is meant to drain and let things fall out from your gun... plugs are actually a negative to reliability.

    I've been building a gen 4 Glock 34 race gun. I used the Hyve Tech +5 base plates in OD green, too. I've had lengthy convos with them about their base plates. They are anodized aluminum. Colors are proprietary according to their website. The base plates are made to work with the magwell offered by Arsenal Democracy. I think the magwell would help your pinky problem. Unfortunately, the magwell is only for gen 3 glocks, but the work around is easy. You'll need to trim the bottom of whatever back strap you use, and use a screw instead of the set screw the magwell comes with. I found a proper length pan head screw that uses an allen key, and painted it black with appliance spray paint. If you're interested in seeing the frame setup I can send you pics via email. The lower half of the gun is complete.

      @HoboCoastie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm comparing my Gen3 to his Gen4 at 11:23 and I can't see a difference in the shape of the butt. To me they look the same, other than the differing grip texture. It' looks like lazy machining on Hyve's part...like it would be more difficult to make that little angle on the back sweep up to match the pistol?

  • @stevekatz4372
    @stevekatz4372 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    From watching your video I see that you are making it more difficult than it is because you should just lay the spring plate down inside the base with the nub going into the hole, then you will have much better luck when the spring is inserted and it will always stay in place. I have done 4 of them and had no problems and they work without a Flaw in my G43!

      Except the reason that it keeps junk out of there for carry. And if you have a problem ripping a Glock mag out, ya got bigger problems. You don't have to use one. But when you get off the internet, look at other firearms out there, they come pre-plugged!

      So far it's held up. I wouldn't say "heavy" or use. It appears to be anodized or something similar. I've tried scratching the logo off and that hasn't happened or marred the surface behind it so I'd think it'd last a while.

    • @WildMountainGarage

      For Glock mags the base plates will fit any capacity mag. There might be a difference in sizes for different calibers, but for the same caliber the base plate will fit on any mag. Different capacity mags will stick out at different lengths from the gun obviously.
