I love this game, I do think they'll get everything updated, they seem very responsive to the playerbase. Even with the shortcomings, its a blast to play
i like that game its just very unbalanced its like overwatch but without healers so you die really really fast, in that style of game survivability is super important and when theres no real tank getting beamed by 6 people is just fucked lol
This is a fantastic game. But right now, we need to flood the devs with messages that they need to give us capitals per-match to buy the Premium Units. They tend to listen, so let's do our best ✊
Very good video as normal, and as an American F2P player, I 100% agree with how you stated the monetization. Per season, if you grind the battle pass as much as you possibly can, you can only get two out of the five suits. It really sucks because if that isn’t fixed, the game is pretty much dead in the long run. I really love this game and hope it stays alive for long (I also don’t want to be forced to play OW2😅).
Actually per season you can only unlock 1 suit, the beginner missions won't always be there, so it's even worse lol.
The free track only nets you 2k capital(non premium currency) and it takes 1,980 capital to unlock a suit 😅
would be 1million% better if we just got a little itty bitty bit of capital after each match

dw blizzard has you covered. If you have a phone from cricket or metro you cant play ow2 anyways.

@@RED24659 .....ok but what does that have to do with what I said? It doesn't really matter if the game is good at all if you cant play it. The excuse they gave for going f2p was inclusivity and lowering the barrier for entry. Then they erected a barrier of exclusion with the excuse that since its f2p they need stronger security.
I'm quite thankful the Philippines was included as part of the countries to release. Mostly Philippines is left in alot of exclusive releases so this is very much appreciated.
Maybe the very high fan base for gundam in the country was a factor in the decision.

I think Gundam Evolution is an amazing game, but I worry for its playerbase with Overwatch 2 coming out so close to it

There's a new Gundam anime out rn which is why I feel like it got launched so close to launch. I know I'm watching the anime because of this game and there's probably a ton of people who are gonna play the game because of the anime

The dash movement reminds me of Titan Fall's movement. A big advantage for me.
Pretty much agreed on all the points I'm a newcomer to this genre but yeah I think the core problem so far is not being able to try out locked characters and the grind is very slow doesn't reward you enough for just playing and discouraging to those who don't want to pay. It's really slow and the quests being character locked is fine on its own as it encourages exploration but you can't check it in game which ends wasting time if you're forgetful like me lol.
Definitely was not a numbers issue in EU over in NA ranked queues were popping on like day 3-4 im almost certain it was just a matchmaking error preventing EU queues from working or something like that
when you get killed lot of time it points the direction of enemy that killed you , once you grind out the challange you get 2 characters, its not amazing but yeah they should be allowed to use them in practice mode before purchase, to basically make a goal for the player to aim towards. its fun enough some wacky stuff can happen , and some bad stuff can happen
Battle damage (one armed) exia should be a skin thd exposed eye and the cape is pure badass. Vidar should come too

Globku I know you might not see this but I just wanted to ask how to play as the main characters in shining striker on Xbox because I have not figured it out and I have watched so many videos and I still haven’t figured it out.
Really wish this game got more attention. Guess I can't expect much with it not being available in lots of countries, but I really like this game in spite of all it's shortcomings.
Game’s pretty good, just wish that Bandai Namco will fix the unlock progression.
on the business model side, found out that paying for the battle pass once gives enough currency to unlock a new suit as well as giving enough evo coins to pay for the next battle pass or another suit.
Basically my exact opinion. If u get Capital or maybe the green currency for level ups and matches this game will feel way more F2P. Kinda sucks aswell that half of the challenges are locked behind the Season Pass making it harder for F2P to level up. Just fix these two and the game is nearly perfect

Super fun but the way new units are handled easily will make this game pay to win unless somethings changed.
I disagree. I play Asshimar Gundam Gm sniper and Pale rider. All viable options. It's possible to grind for it. I'm a free to play type player. So I agree it's hard, but if you like the game like I do it won't be a pain to grind.
@@genesisfd4418 the viability of the current mobile suits doesn't matter in the long run because we have no idea what future mobile suits will be like.
You also cannot say that you can just grind for it because in the current model, you literally cannot grind for each new suit.
I just bought Exia because it’s Exia.

I was looking to get into this game if the monitization was friendlier than Overwatch's, but it looks like its even more expensive. (which is is a feat in of itself) Looks like I'll be sticking with colorful squid water gun game unless it gets better, since I feel like that's the only shooter at the moment that doesn't go out of its way to gatekeep me from gameplay.
I just hope the game increases the server coverage. Because I'm dying to play the game but Australia isn't included and from all official posts as of writing this, they've outright said they don't have plans to expand it to other regions.
This game is great and feels fresh i absolutely adore it, but the buissness model is a real problem with the only way of getting new characters is grinding the pass or doing the beginner challenges. A proper fix to it would be giving the character specific currency as rewards for daily missions along with the pass xp to make characters easier to unlock, i really want to see this game be easily accessable to everyone who wants to play it wether they pay for the cosmetics or want to be pure free to play

They need to add crouch and some sort of quick melee and it'll take it to another level, though crouch isnt a dealbreaker.
in Ost department I want full on anime or game from series ost in some kind of way , limited time event reward or dlc

i played OW years ago and that game was all about waiting for team stacked ults. I like how this game, the ults are impactful but not at all necessary to win objectives! Probably the best distinction this game has over overwatch. Really is about gunplay and movement rather than waiting for cooldowns. Business model is definitely their weak side but I hope that changes soon

Great review, I will say this. The base pass is $10 and this game is absolutely worth more than that for the sheer fun factor.

i will say as a huge gundam fan but someone new to the hero shooter genre im absolutely hooked by the gameplay loop and love that theres finally a game for the franchise on pc let alone one thats going to be actively supported for a while it feels, but the monetization is horrendous in that + another 10 bucks if you want the season pass so even if you do decide and commit and put money down progression is SLOW on top of that though i have to disagree with the unlockable suits beeing op with mahiroo in particular being a strong contender for weakest suit in the game

As much as I enjoy the game feel like this might be a flop. Personally I don’t have much issues with the game at. I have no problem with the monetization system because I already knew it would be predatory also it being a Japanese kind of makes it obvious, Gundam battle operation 2 monetization system makes Gundam evolution look like a blessing and that game is over 2 years old and still gets updates with new content. My only issue with the game is the lack of players because I know what they could do to return the players. The launch was also rough with all micro transactions being unavailable at launch and a bunch of players leaving after constant disconnects really ruined the first few days and now with overwatch 2 released as well as being free to play I saw Gundam evolution lost about 4K players. My only question now is how dedicated are the developers. Will this game get scrapped by next year or will they stick with the game for a while.
The biggest thing I hate about this game is how similar it is to overwatch and the overall scale of things. The maps don't feel natural as there's no place even in the gundam universe where you have doorways and hallways that big. Also, why can't we fly like actual gundams? Every gundam game so far allows you to at least fly around in the air with a decent speed but this game does not even have that. Also why not release a space map on launch? Gundams are made to fight in space. I think they fked up the atmosphere big time. I feel like no gundam game so far can get the atmosphere right. Everything is scaled down to human size.
8:15 how is that Zaku not dead? All pellets hit the fucking zaku and didnt die at less than half health.

l like this game but damn getting currency to buy new mobile suits sucks a lot i hope they'll fix that

The game is great damn very even but i start to see a pattern as it trying to be more of a overwatch clone then a gundam focus hero shooter.
From like the ui, music cosmetics, damn The Gundam Exia is just a Genji rip off as it primary attack is a 3 shot bust, like the Exia have a build in beam gun in the arm blade but no they decided to have it throws dagger instead so it would feel more like something from Overwatch.
I really love the game as i enjoy the gundam francise alot but i can't stop seeing this game as a quick Overwatch clone and i do hope it able to stray further from it and focus more on the Mobile suit gundam franchise more. (apolagies aswell for my bad gammar also)
Game is fun and has potential but is a bit bare bones rn. New units every month so that's cool.
Hope they add melee/beam sabers and maybe a jump thrust. If you use them you use up a dash charge.
So far I'm liking this game but it's clearly rushed and feels like a beta.

For some reason a noteable amount of japanese things arent avaiable in Portugal for some reason.
They probably think: "oh we just have to put it in spain right? That way they will get it."
I don't know anything about gundam but can someone explain me why in this game they seem so small? Aren't they supposed to be giant robots? are the buildings that massive?
The mobile suits are so small because of the game, they didn’t do a good job conveying the size
It’s a fault on the map design, these are supposed to be mechs that are 18+ meters tall. Maybe in the following seasons some maps with actual scale will be implemented.

Fun game, but I think it'd benefit from having each MS's general role being visible during character select, what your team's roles are, and warnings of like "WEE-WOO WEE-WOO, YOUR TEAM HAS NO TANK/HEALER" or "WEE-WOO WEE-WOO, YOUR TEAM HAS TOO MANY TANKS/HEALERS" in order to nudge casual random teams into a better comp.
that's not a problem because this game solves a huge issue other hero base shooters have, which every suit can actually deal good damage and some form of survivability.

i love mecha combat, altho an overwatch clone isn't exactly my vibe. neat it's f2p, but it looks way too grindy in order to get you to pay2play
Yeah the game needs to be more f2p friendly a bit more the practice with locked unit and gate keeping daily quest pretty bad
They should of made currency a reward for every match instead of lock it behind missions. Long term this hurts the game.
My god I hope they save this game from dying. I love it so much but it really feels like without any word for fixing it's core issues it will fizzle out and bandia will pull the plug

Not sure what servers you played on but NA has been very toxic lol. I bought a suit and got called a slur every time i used it, mostly by other people who also wanted to use it

Exia is the only locked Gundam who could be considered P2W. The rest fall right in line with others, and some are actually worse than most of the base Gundams (like Nu Gundam).
Yeah monetization is yikes. $10 per character and more for palette swap skins. The fact you can insta unlock ranked if you buy season pass is pretty bad tbh

Does this game have any of the iconic gundams? Like Tall geese or wing zero….these all look a bit bland/ basic
i dont like the player count is going down hard on steam , me and my friends think the game is freaking amazing , of course it needs some fixes / updates and some nerfs / buffs

I hate to say this game fell off super hard for me. The classes didnt feel unique enough and the grind to even get one character i wanted that was locked was far beyond what i had time for (+i didnt like playing anybody beforehand)

This is why I don't understand people complaining so much about OW2's model. It could've been so much worse like this.
Well Jeff the og OW 1 director said the game relied on counter picks too much to ever put characters/content behind a pay wall. Blizzard forced him out and the game stopped getting updates and lost all of its soul like the rest of Blizzard's IP. That's the main reason for the disdain of OW2 season pass model compared to Gundam where you knew going in it was gonna be p2w-ish since it was being made by a Japanese company. Plus role queue, no updates as they worked on an alleged pve mode we've never seen anything about, every new character having a stun(in addition to no new character being added for like a year and a half prior to OW2 launch) and the same meta for 2 years also made people turn on the franchise.
**IMPORTANT** I don't intend to sound preachy with this, but when you tell people it's okay to play with a VPN, you should also make sure to bring attention to the fact steams considers it a breach in their policies, which might lead to account suspension. Steam not only considers it for games you buy across regions, but also games that are inherently region lock, even when free. I know a lot of people have faced no issues whatsoever over this, but there's no inherent proof that it can't and won't happen eventually, this means some people could be facing this suspension without knowing that playing the game outside of the supported regions can screw up your Steam account (as far as I can tell, I'd love to be proven wrong).
Other than that. I wouldn't be super hurt about being unable to buy suits in tandem, so long as they did it like Pokemon Unite does, where you get "Licenses" that give you a trial run on characters you haven't unlocked yet. This way you get to try out whatever suit you might want to buy and make sure it's the Mobile suit for you.
Steam only does the region locked thing to prevent you from buying low and selling high. If your only suspension is playing f2p games outside of your country I doubt steam would care.
You got to be doing some serious business for steam to really look into you because most of the time they don't care.
@@pushyrummble8625 Aye, I get it. I don't have any issue if others decide to download it this way anyway, I just feel like having people know what 'could' happen as a result is still worth knowing. It's specifically because all of this is within the realm of 'doubts', 'mights' and 'coulds' that I am not comfortable with gettting into the game yet (myself). The alternative, which is, making a side account to play gundam evo doesn't sound particularly appealing to me either, but that's just me. I just wish we didn't have to jump these hoops to begin with, hopefully the game is made available to the other regions later on (sooner than later if at all).

A few things I'm pissed about the game.
1. Loot box
2. 6v6, 5v5 is better
3. Suits are boring
4. Every suit SHOULD have 3 abilities.
5. It's just boring, gundam extreme vs is better.
6. The grind is BS and too unforgiving.
7. Pay to win
8. One match is too fking long
Play this instead of OW2. Screw Blizzard!
Overwatch > gundamn evo
It's definitely a B game. Played it for a week, grinded to ranked mode, and close to Gold rank. If you enjoy this style of gameplay, its an A mostly because it's free.
But getting bodied by overpowered, P2W mechs that you have no idea what they do is super feelsbadman.
Not really enough players to have quick ranked queues but still good overall.
Same problems as 6v6 OW where unless you are the carry player, or your team actually plays as a team, you can get so many losses and feel like even casual is a drag.
Not being able to purchase literally anything in-game without real money, sucks alot considering how much content is locked behind a rare in-game currency. But to be fair, learning to play the game and many different mechs can be pretty challenging too if you're casual, so it won't matter that much until you get some hours in.
All in all, I plan on grinding the ranked mode until the wait times for matches are the same as DnF Duel (which are abysmal sometimes) and see how the game progresses.

wow "matches" I'm super disappointed. on steam its advertised as a "co-op game" but its only pvp (maybe co-op means something different in Asia I dunno) . You start in casual matches until your level 20 unless you pay for premium and they SUCK. No co-op to be found. false advertising? sure feels like it. Glad its free or I'd have to dust of my twitter rage on BANDAI NAMCO who I expected so much more from.

It does feel p2w and I say maybe like 2 characters feel stronger than the free ones but, every game I see someone pop off or even me is using pale rider, zaku range, guntank, gm, gm-sniper.
Does feel p2w because you have no idea wtf the paid character do, but once you learn them they aren't that bad to fight.
@@pushyrummble8625 It gets one sided when the other team has good unit like Unicorn,Exia while the other team has mostly basic units and especially if they know what they're doing, sure Barbatos can probably much Exia in terms of assasin,flank,brawling if the barba player also know what its doing but the basic support unit is kinda meh compared to Unicorn.

Thought I'd be missing out on something good with the region locks. Nope, looks horrendously boring. Only Bandai Namco could make some of the best IPs look this bad. Yet another disappointing clunky game with no personality. Who needs a good game when you can slap a popular brand on top and call it a day.

To add to the flaw you didn’t cover
- Some aspects are really misrepresented in game and make it feel worse such as Unicorn’s Beam Magnum’s sound, Most os suit that Should have any Melee Don’t have despite showing them suing beam saber in MVP,etc.
- The Asia server is LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE thanks to THAT BING CHILING Country Cheaters Rampage, as Asean player, from 10 games I played, only 3 round... that were cheaters-free...
- No option for Japanese voice, idk why but most of English VA feel too cringe, except few.
And also to add to some of point you pointed.
- The P2W is so much that team with Locked Suits can just stomp team without.
- I praise one thing that Japanese Company do Milk and Scheme Money out of customer well compared to Western Companies... but this game’s Milking Scheme really fall flat. And ended up become discouragement.
So using your score system, I would prefer the game to be ranked around C or D.
Despite its hellish flaws, the 3 cheaters-free games were rather fun, aside from having to deal with P2W suits.
I uninstalled the game for now, unless one day the game really improves, I won’t return.
