- Speedrunning anime games is always fun, but it's even better when you completely break a run. Today I'm running Dragon Ball Z Kakarot: Trunks DLC and getting the world record by accidentally discovering something absolutely broken.

So where did you "break" the entire run and revolutionize the catagory? I understand "community boards" were used in a new way, but you never went into much detail about them. All this looks like is a standard speedrun. Nothing about this run was "broken" and nothing substantial seemed to really be taking place. If there was, it wasn't communicated very well. Kinda feels like clickbait, ngl.
It’s not clickbait because he still did a 20 hour speed run, and what he meant by broken is that since community boards are a thing you can do speed runs much faster.

I’d LOVE to see you do the xenoverse 2 story mode next. It’s pretty quick and decently easy but it’s really fun

Man, seeing your highest playtime save file really made me realize that I played Kakarot WWWAAAAAYYY too much because I have a save file that's well over 400 hours.
I never finished kakarot let alone the dlcs but I was wondering why future Gohan had both his arms. Great detail that we get to see him lose it. I should probably finish this game 😅 there's just so much to do

I grew up on tenchaichi 3 and I remember the cutscenes were not satisfying that's what I'm comparing these spectacular cuts cents to that's my mistake

I would love to see a pokémon speed run any game pokémon game really. You’re probably not that familiar with pokémon and it’s pretty long but I’d get a kick out of it and would love to see it.
This game is so much better as soon as you add extra content but i never expected this game to be a speedrunning game, should I try?

fun fact: if enemys use their counter *the stun counter* you can block it so you dont get stunned!!!

Speedrun dragon ball xenoverse? I dont think its that much time, it took me like 13h inculding playing with my friend 1 v 1 for fun for like hours so you can do a 3 hours speddrun i think.
Wow, a DLC that you can't replay it? Simply genius game design.
You can replay it with the Time Machine, but i think if you use it you can only do like one part of the story before you have to go to the time machine again and choose the next part.

Is the Trunks DLC meant to be played after completing the base game, or can I do it around the Cell Saga just for plot coherency?

Im just gonna throw that out there if you start a new game and open a dlc the dlc gets new gamed so when you open it again on your main save its new gamed. I found this because my 23 tenkaichi dlc got bugged and i fixed it that way

I’ve always wanted DBZ Kakarot for my birthday, but I don’t think I can afford 5 hours time for this game
I love that Gohan is actually missing an arm in this, and that his death against the androids seems to include a whole section of him just being beaten around in actual gameplay. And yeah, I remember Burning Attack, Big Bang Attack, Piccolo's explosive wave.... practically any big attack really, being phenomenal. Kakarot does very poorly at fighting multiple people, I seem to recall. At least it felt that way during the first few days after release, which is the only time I played it. So having big ass attacks was always a godsend.
Anyway, unrelated rant below.
Kakarot is a very beautiful game and I played it up until just after Vegeta's Final Atonement against Majin Buu and I just... didn't like it.
It's interesting to watch, it's really pretty, it's genuinely funny and nice to see characters interact a lot of the time, but the combat itself is just no good. The fact that to get stuns you need to spend the entire fight *_only spamming_* stun moves is horrendous. Much more reasonably, you'd expect something like a stamina system, where the enemy didn't just complete recuperate from built up stun as soon as you stopped actively hitting them with stuns.
And the most shockingly bad thing, the actual deal breaker for me in this game, is despite how rare stuns are, you often can't actually perform a lot of combos unless the enemy is stunned because they turn red, get super armour, and a moment later hit you for a truckload of damage and stun you right back. While you are hitting them. There's nothing you can do but back off and wait, as far as I could figure. It just felt too cautious and slow to be Dragon Ball Z combat. It was damn near more like a Souls game, with the way you have some bosses just non-stop spam super attacks over and over, you'll get a couple attacks in for a moment, and then spend a whole minute repeating the process.
I distinctly remember utterly hating the Vegeta vs Cui and Dodoria fights. In the show, both encounters are dismantling murders, not fights, in Vegeta's favour. So playing as Vegeta in those sections and needing to still treat Cui and Dodoria as actual bosses that will absolutely wreck me if I don't act carefully just left a bad taste in my mouth. I remember also distinctly disliking that the game's voice acting is just... what you'd expect from a DBZ game. The voices are lacklustre in energy a lot of the time compared to the show, and that coupled with the fact that there are no effects on the voices for echoes and such, it just makes it sound too much like people literally just talking into a microphone, rather than screaming with effort in an echoey wasteland or something.

Could've done a speedrun of the main game then used the time machine posr game to travel back and get all the medals so you can get a speedrun for that while replaying

no you can speed run the entire game so easily, first you download the battle of the gods dlc so you can get all the super saiyans easily, then you go to the normal game and just 1 shot everyone and boom game over. Unless its like one of those speedruns where you have to do every quest and every side quest and all of that

I love kakarot but I have a big issue with its combat system. Its just spamming supers mashing B / O rinse and repeat. There is zero depth to it. You almost can’t do a proper combo that you discover yourself. Would it have a system like dbz budokai tenkaichi this could have been the perfect game.
This is impossible to do a speed run on dbz kakarot. The storyline itself is long as heck and if you don't have the right power level you will sitting ducks with your opponent level higher than yours. You would need to max your power level and have ultra instinct on. I wish they give us this form in DLC 7. Fighting Jiren. lol.
