Great video. There's a lot of Dauntless crew in there too which makes me happy. I saw myself, the covered wagon, Mutt, and of course Bill as a car judge, founders award presenter, and cranking mad dirt spins in the black Mustang. Well done to all the winners this year and thank you Star Cars for being there to capture the fun!
please check the market value of a xb falcon before ripping this guy. try getting a decent standard falcon for less than ten grand. considering he lives in America and it's an Aussie car he's probably spent a fortune importing parts. plus he loves it so that's all that matters.
Exactly. If I had a good enough job, id easily sink years and untold Amoi ts of money into an XB Falcon to have me a Pursuit Special. I've freamt of that car ever since I can remember due to growing up with Mad Max.
Brad Hansen There's a lot of vehicles from Mad Max II that replicas could be made from. The "turbo Landau" from the opening chase ( as a stocker, it's an LTD (top of the line luxury Australian Falcon) in a coupe body. The various Chargers, Humungous' open wheeler truck. There is an old International truck in the Marauders camp being worked on (90% sure there's an American equivalent) and two F-100s. One is the cut down '73 model, the other is a complete tow truck. Personally, I'm waiting to see if anyone is crazy enough to make a replica of the Mack truck
Hands down my favorite movie car ever. So cool that you had such a good MFP Interceptor Pursuit Special to showcase. Also nice that you took the time to cover some of the other vehicles there since there's so many awesome rides with a lot of work and love put into them.
The best Interceptor replica I've ever seen is local to me. On the outskirts of Perth, Western Australia is a motor museum in a place called Whiteman Park. A bloke by the name of Gordon Hayes is legendary for building automotive replicas, and he built a Pursuit Special coupe. It would have been fun to be one of the team of mechanics that put the cars together from all three movies, and Fury Road. To find an XB Falcon sedan isn't so hard, but there were less than 10,000 XB coupes made. One of Eric Bana's movies, Love the Beast is a documentary about his XB. Even completely stock, they can cut it with Mustangs just for looking cool.
Great video. We were able to spend some time with the guys behind Wasteland Weekend and they are awesome people! Didn't take themselves too seriously and had loads of fun!
I work in a Garage and a build like to convert a standard Falcon would only cost about 5000 maximum. Someone seen this guy coming and made a fortune of him.
+smokeyfgg concorde nose, side exhausts, weiand blower (fake with electric motor if you want to keep movie acurate) a body kit that doesnt exist anymore.. all the interior if you want to be really acurate .. i say its a lot of money.. way over 5000
sparrowlt It'll be built up with isopon... You can get like a 3 litre tin of isopon for like 5$. i would say about 30 litres you would need to sort that job. The parts that dont exsist anymore are the easiest part. The Blower maybe would skin him a few hundred like. But i still say this guy was taken for a ride like.
Hood looks like a 71-73 Mustang, the rest looks more like the Torino. I believe the 351 Cleveland engine were offered in Australia for several years after they were discontinued here in the states.
I think I can get away with modding a Gran Toreno to build an Interceptor. Since I'm in the U.S., it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than importing a car from Australia, and the parts are plentiful.
Michael Hughes looks like a blonde and older Roop if he were to appear in thunder dome haha awesome car though. i think ill be participating in this in the near future.
wow, the movie was not all about clowns shooting spears one at another, swords and cars with multiple turrets and MG's jeesus. The movie was much more than that.. but what can you expect from some people...
MaxTheKanuck No one said they weren't allowed to enjoy it, the issue is that they are treating it like it is an American movie and "Patriotism, if it isn't American I won't drive it!". Shit, if I had to pick a car to survive the Apocalypse I would choose something like a crew-cab lifted Hilux, which is most certainly, not American, not eve Australian.
Raptor Jesus They're all driving late 70's (with a few exceptions) American cars because in Mad Max lore, that's when vehicle production stopped due to the collapse of the world economy, and all through the 70's, the vast majority of the cars in every country were built domestically, so that's also going to be a majority of what can be found to build into a survival vehicle.
I USE TO PLAY ON THE ORIGNAL MAD MAX 2 CARS THE PURPLE UTE THE BUGGIES AND THE ORIGNAL INTERCEPTOR IT WAS LOCKED IN A OLD SHED NEAR SILVERTON NSW, I SPUN OUT WHEN I PICKED UP A UNIQE CARS MAGAZINE ALMOST 15 YEARS LATER AND THE STORY WAS IN THERE I EVEN REMEMBER LEAVING THE BOOMERANG ON THE SEAT ON THE PASSANGER DOOR WHICH WAS LEFT OPEN :)
It's about 2 hours outside of Los Angeles and happening this weekend! Google the event and you'll find their site and info. It's a great time, I'm hoping to make it again next year.
Guess a second hand ford crown Vic police car with a push bar and some home brew armour would fit right in now excuse me while I go to find a crown Vic or a second hand police car
Totally true! I was the director of this shoot, and our crew car is exactly that (sans armor, all black). It fit right in even in an "unroughed" state. The last of the V8 Interceptors!
Thanks for the kick in the right direction I just have doubts about a 150+ K CVPI making it 2300 miles without at least a transmission rebuild so I would need to do some work
I want to thank you guys for taking the time to interview and film us and the Sea Skag. I feel all fluffy inside!

Our pleasure!
1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe Max Max Car is...beyond doubt the most badass vehicle ever.
please check the market value of a xb falcon before ripping this guy. try getting a decent standard falcon for less than ten grand. considering he lives in America and it's an Aussie car he's probably spent a fortune importing parts. plus he loves it so that's all that matters.

As soon as I can afford to get an Interceptor, I'M THERE !!! Love the concept !!!
Aussie films back in the day were awesome!
All of these guys are gonna be pumped for Mad Max 2015
I'm surprised I didn't see any movie replicas other than the falcon. There are sooooo many cool cars in mad max 2
Some years there are several, some years only one (like in this video). Look out for the Cobra Truck in Road Warrior next year!
Brad Hansen I think out of all the baddie cars they did the best job on that ford. A few of the body panels got kinda fucked up, but it survived
The movie was shot in Aussie land. Its not easy getting them all the way here to the USA. Pretty expensive.

most of those vehicles are NOT street legal. Its hard to get something like that imported.

Agreed. We were the filmmaking crew, and everyone was simply awesome to film.
79 Camaro
Question: "What was the hardest part about creating this car?"
Answer: "Ruining it"
lmfao
Awesome Falcon
Great job everyone!
Wow never herd of.this man people really get into it and I love red hair

So there's an OilPunk genre as well? I thought it was called DieselPunk, but maybe that refers to idealized early/mid 20th Century mecha?

I'm so going to this one day.
Car wins every time!
1:50....BAHAHHA...Dude you rock!
I work in a Garage and a build like to convert a standard Falcon would only cost about 5000 maximum. Someone seen this guy coming and made a fortune of him.
nope. alot of the parts aren't available so he must've had somebody make it for him, that and the import are the most expensive
+smokeyfgg concorde nose, side exhausts, weiand blower (fake with electric motor if you want to keep movie acurate) a body kit that doesnt exist anymore.. all the interior if you want to be really acurate .. i say its a lot of money.. way over 5000

sparrowlt Then the lacker and paint. which is not very much. About 300 for decent job. It still sits pretty low in the build cost.
You wouldn't even get a standard xb falcon for $5000 these days fella.
Hood looks like a 71-73 Mustang, the rest looks more like the Torino. I believe the 351 Cleveland engine were offered in Australia for several years after they were discontinued here in the states.
are thesecevents still active?
"Can't go to In N Out burgers by yourself."
Hilarious.
yeah but i dont know why no one is asking what happens to the cars after wasteland do they keep them or scrap them???
I think I can get away with modding a Gran Toreno to build an Interceptor. Since I'm in the U.S., it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than importing a car from Australia, and the parts are plentiful.
What was the end credits song?
I'm gonna have this someday
WHY am I just learning about this?!
It's the best car IT'S THE BEST IT'S THE BEST
I'm a Mad Max fan.
4:58 looks like the saltflatracer ''bombshell betty''
mad max's car is a 1973 ford falcon xb not 1974
True!
it could be a 74 due to the fact that the falcon xb was from 73-76
the monstr carlo has gained such popularity that it should get featured i the next mad max movie... and it would be a moneysaver too...
4:39 whats the name of that song?
Michael Hughes looks like a blonde and older Roop if he were to appear in thunder dome haha awesome car though. i think ill be participating in this in the near future.
Helge Thomsen... Stay in that desert!
wow, the movie was not all about clowns shooting spears one at another, swords and cars with multiple turrets and MG's jeesus. The movie was much more than that.. but what can you expect from some people...
its. a. Aussie. film. dudes
...And that means they're not allowed to enjoy it?
yeah, i feel like there going abit overboard. But thats what americas are good at i guess
MaxTheKanuck No one said they weren't allowed to enjoy it, the issue is that they are treating it like it is an American movie and "Patriotism, if it isn't American I won't drive it!". Wow this whole thread, heaven FORBID a fanbase of any kind meets together the way they want to.
Is this still a thing
the nerf Vulcan in the car at the beginning
You need Pulse Jets From Bob Maddox for these Cars.
Steelies, cragar soft 8s and d-rings, and Vector SEs would fit on any car here.
Is it worth it? Fuckin' A, HELL YES!!
8:05 der gute Helge Thomsen! :D
No question, I'd go with the limo when the nukes fall.
Oil punk? is that a new thing?
Mad Max the game 2014
Ha, the machine guns on the limo is the nerf Vulcan
the original last of the v8 interceptor was a 1973 not a 1974

Onlything wrong with the interceptor is that max's car was an automatic
She said nuclear wasteland!?
After nukes...all cpu and chip ran vehicles will cease from EMP.. so old school it
There's one car the definately deserves more recognition: Eleanor from the 1974 original "Gone In 60 Seconds"
The car in the original gone in 60 seconds wasn't called elanor. It was just a regular GT500. Now, the mustang from the remake, that is called Eleanor
Brendan Sheehy Actually the car in the original movie was a 1973 yellow Ford Mustang Mach I.
MaxTheKanuck The original was called Eleanor, and was just a yellow 71 Mustang dressed up as a 73
the guy should of put a real supercharger on it
Ya I figured they would care about power over looks
Would be awesome of Mel Gibson or any of the Mad Max actors showed up unannounced to greet their fans.
Comic con?
I wanted to see more of dat Miata
