I love your channel. You're way more knowledgeable than some of the biggest youtubers with millions of subscribers, and that's an actual fact.
FACT
I’m from the Caribbean but there’s something so lovely about grandmothers from all cultures cooking their different cultural foods ❤ subscribed!
These are the lessons that have been traditionally passed from mother to daughter and now are wonderfully being provided to everyone on TH-cam. Fantastico! Thank you!
Oh mama! I absolutely adore your energy. You bring a grace and dignity to the kitchen of a bygone era. It's so fresh and addictive! Love your videos! God bless!
Fabulous comment x
I have been making this recipe for a few years now. I learned it from an Italian cookbook and loved it ever since. Have never met anyone who didn't like it!
As a personal touch, I like to add a bit of parmesan cheese into the bechamel sauce to make it extra creamy and tasty. Sooo yum!
I just came across your channel and I love this recipe. My late Grandmother was Sicilian , I remember her making this just like you did. I never could recreate this until now. Thank you so much for posting this. I now Have it to make for my Grandchildren.
I love your channel. The view that you have I also enjoyed for 45 years. I miss it so much, but watching your videos brings me back. This recipe looks so delicious I definitely will ask my husband to help me make it!Thank You Giovanna for your wonderful videos 💕
Excellent. My wife made it and now it’s our favorite lasagna.
Just found your channel through your chocolate drink, I will make that, but your lasagna is to die for. A big hit in this family. Loved the toned down meat/tomato base with cream. Yummy. Thank you for the recipe. 🇬🇧🐶
good food...good health...Merry Christmas! Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo!
Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo to my Nicoletta, the BEST Daughter a Mamma could possibly have!!!
Awesome - thank you for this fantastic lasagne. Many greetings from Germany!
Hi Giovanna! I recently discovered your channel. I am French and now I want to know all your recipes. You are such a good cooker, and your explanations are very interesting. Just something very important to tell you, please be careful with the hot water from the tap. It's not supposed to be drank or used for cooking, It may contain toxic metals, heavy metals harmful to health. 😊
I love and enjoy watching your energy of cooking. Italian pasta is one of my favorite and surely I'm going to try this recipe. God bless from Philippines ❤
At 73 I have never learned a recipe for Bolgnese lasagna. I will make this next menus cycle!
I’m British🇬🇧, I have never heard of the Neapolitan style lasagna before, in Britain lasagna is this version- it looks delicious, like you I always layer the bechamel sauce between the layers- but hardly anyone does ( I knew I was correct 😂) , usually bolognaise sauce in Britain is beef only, but I will try veal & or pork with it, just found your channel, I love Italian food, so I look forward to watching more recipes ❤
Bolognese sauce does not have veal in it. There is an official recipe by the Bologna Chamber of Commerce. It even states that veal is not allowed.
Look at you all these short cut to help us Americans do this I thank you
Now take advantage of the short cuts!
This is the only Lasagne I make. The whole family loves this dish! Thank you so much for sharing ❤
What a beautiful view - the family, the lasagna, and the river!!!
I made this last night for company and everyone LOVED it! I love your channel so much! Just recently found it and subscribed! Thank you for sharing!
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Best Wishes to you and your Family as well!!
My family has never been a big fan of lasagna in general but I made this and it was an absolute hit! So so so good! Thank you for the recipe!
My 12 year old daughter Jaci discovered your channel a few days ago! She first found your Italian hot chocolate (that’s next on the list to make 😊) But as soon as I watched this video I ran straight to the kitchen to make it! I had never heard of any lasagna without mozzarella and ricotta 😁 I love a good béchamel sauce and the idea of adding heavy cream to tone down the tomato sounded wonderful. So I had to try it. I followed the recipe exactly. We absolutely loved it!! It is a new favorite! I would love to have the recipe for green noodles! Also, my daughter wanted to ask of you have a recipe for Alfredo sauce. I’ve made several but none are as good as we’ve found… in a container of Rana 🙈 They usually turn out too thick or too sour or something just not right. We’re looking for a smooth, creamy Alfredo recipe. We have enjoyed all your videos! You’re so easy to listen to and Love the history you add in too. Jaci is watching and learning to cook 😊 ❤️ Gina H. (Please tell me where to add a picture of mine. I can’t figure it out here or on the Instagram post 😁)
Alfredo is purely an Italian American invention. Italians do not know it and if you go to Italy and find it on a menu it’s only because so many americans request it.😊
I had a fabulous lasagna in New York City many years ago. It was unlike anything I had ever tasted. For years I have been trying to figure out what the luscious unusual taste was and the light sauce I was unused to. Being from New York I had eaten lasagna hundreds of times but not like this one. Finally, I realize that the lasagna I had must have been from the north of Italy and the exotic flavor was nutmeg. Thank you so much for this lesson. I can't wait to make your version of lasagna. Thank you very much. Incidentally, what kind of knife is it I see you use? It looks like half a knife. Thanks again.
You are a treasure! I can’t wait to make this dish later in the week!
I AM GOING TO HAVE TO GET THOSE NOODLES OFF AMAZON BECAUSE DOWN HERE IN TENNESSEE ITALIANS ARE SCARCE AND SO ARE GOOD PRODUCTS. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOU ALWAYS LOOK BEAUTIFUL AND TODAY YOU LOOK FESTIVE AND BEAUTIFUL..
Thank you, Donna! Amazon saves the day!. When my brother was serving in the army in Oklahoma, we used to send him all the Italian products we could mail! Merry Christmas from our family to yours and thank you for watching and for your comments!
I live in Tennessee too. Italians really are scarce around here (and those that say they're Italian think being Italian is like being in the movie, The Godfather, and can never speak it LOL). If you live near Nashville, look up Coco's Italian Market. It's the only place I know of to get lots of authentic Italian things. They have stuff that you would never find at Krogers or Publix ^~^ I'm not sure if there are places in the Knoxville or Memphis areas, because I never go there.
I’ve never seen lasagne made like this. I can’t wait to try this recipe
Giovanna I loved your segment on Pasta Grannies, you are a warm and fascinating lady and I'm so glad to discover you've also got your own youtube channel.
I'm from California, but my mom was a real NYC Italian woman. Unfortunately she hasn't been in my life much since I was a small kid, so my entire Italian side was something I (cruelly) never got to know. What I would do to still have my mom around, my aunties and my grandma to sit around and cook and drink wine with. Your kids and grandkids are so lucky to have such a nonna.
Mille grazie for all the food, history, wisdom, and warmth that you share with us!
-Mike in Los Angeles
Dear Mike, I was very touched by your memories of your Italian family. You hold your Mom, Aunties and Grandma in your memory and in your heart, ever ready to inspire you.
Greetings from New Jersey to Los Angeles!
I don’t boil my lasagna noodles and it comes out perfect time 🤩
Buon Natale Giovanna! I hope you and your family have had a wonderful holiday so far. 😊. I do so look forward to all of your recipes and cannot wait for the next triumph!
Grazie altrettanto, Curtis. Thank you or your encouragement, and I look forward to sharing more of my favorite recipes!
She speaks so clearly and eloquently. I also like her brief recipe summaries at the start of her videos.
Thank you for your sumptuous bolognaise recipe. Your version is the easiest and my most favoured.
My family will be eating your recipe dishes during Christmas holidays. Thank you again 💓
You have inspired me to want to try it. As soon I can get all the bits together! Thank you for sharing! Your kitchen is so bright and wonderful!
I knew there had to be a reason for so many of your recipes be vegetarian or vegan!! I'm vegan and I've been enjoying watching lots of your videos, even though I NEVER watch traditional cooking channels. And I love the history aspect that you bring to your videos, too. Thank you!
Pasta, bread, and vegetables are at the center of Sicilian cuisine, and fish rather than meat is used more often, since Sicily is an island in the Mediterranean. As a result, a large number of recipes are naturally vegetarian and many are Vegan.
Guilding the Lily. So much better than saying Cherry on Top.
Love this channel.
Giovanna! I just made this for my family tonight and it was the the absolute very Italian we have ever had! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe and all the others with the world! You and your recipes are a treasure! Blessings to you and yours from the United States!
So beautiful 🤤👍😍 Thank you 👏
This looks delicious! I’m going to make this for my wife!
I guarantee that your wife will love it!
It's my son's Birthday and I had to look up this recipe to make the perfect Lasagne.
Last time I had used Cottage cheese and Gompte Cheese and it was the wrong kind for a lasagne.
Merhabalar efendim, yine çok çok çok nefis, benim en çek sevdiğim Pizza tarifiyle karşımdasınız, çok teşekürler.❤
Thank you so much. I love this you tube. I miss my family. This makes me comfortable. For a moment. Love your techniques and recipes. I am going this week end to find your cook book.
Thank you my Friend!
We call the Trinity a Soffritto. A French call Soffritto a mirepoix. Same thing and cooked the same way. When cooking a bolognese we use equal amounts of onion, carrots and celery. They are sautéed in butter and EVO until almost done and then we had the garlic so it won’t burn. Then we seasoni with Salt & pepper. The meat goes in next and seasoned. Cooked until almost brown and then add wine. White or red. When cooked down we add brown stock and that cooks for up to 2 hours. Tomatoes are next. D.O.P. San Mariano. We season the tomatoes and cook the mixture for 2 hours on low heat. Lastly we add the cream and cook for another 15 minutes. An option at he beginning is to take 8-12 ounces of pancetta and render on low heat and use the rendered fat along with butter and EVO to cook the vegetables. Also, mushrooms may be chopped up and added with the meat or the tomatoes and they bring another layer of flavor to the bolognese. We make a vert large pot and fill many bags that we freeze for future use. Make a lasagna, or use over papardelle or egg noodles. Home made of course. Thank you for your show.
I can listen to you all day! I'm not Italian but Turkish but when I was little my dad used to make 3 coloured fresh pasta, using spinach for green, carrot for orange and paprika for red. You hardly needed any sauce because the pasta alone was so tasty :)
Thank you for the recipe! It was delicious!
Dear Giovanna,
I am watching from Germany and I really adore your videos. I can hear the passion right in your voice and I would more than love to have a grandma like you are!
I am speechless about the fact, how perfect your English is. That's why I always wonder if you ever lived in America for a while?
Greetings from Germany and bon appetito!
Greetings from Rome!
Lasagna is the best, always. Although I do prefer to cook with olive oil only, no butter. I also use non-alcoholic red wine, which is just fine. Lots and lots of nutmeg. Molto bello! 😋👍
Beautiful lasagna and a wonderful view!
Yami yami ❤ delicious!🎉
Bravo!
Thank you for this. You are able to make such a complicated dish seem actually very easy to make.
If you prepare the sauce ahead, you can assemble the dish very quickly, and then it'll not be complicated....just delicious!
Thank you for sharing this recipe! I can't wait to make this for my family!
Oooo my,,,,, how I would Love to have that ancient nutmeg holder … You are so blessed to have it❤and that is an interesting knife you use in your videos. Buon Natale Michele, I wonder if your family is originally from Bologna, and what a coincidence that the video is about Lasagne Bolognese!
Well, I’m convinced! After watching just two of your videos I’m subscribed! I like your genuine authenticity , your recipes and your clear directions. Thanks. I look forward to making the ragu for starters! Ciao!

Thank you. I delight at the idea that we are all connected, no matter how far we are from each other! Merry Christmas!
Those sheets of lasagna look like a game changer! What a great idea 💡
They are indeed! Easy, Quick and Delicious. With the meat sauce prepared ahead, the noodles just soaked in hot water, the Besciamelle made at the last minute, it could be assembled and baked any time.
I love your channel thank you for sharing your wisdom and wonderful vibe xx
❤From North Wales, UK. Xx
Thanks. That must be delicious. Best wishes from Moscow
Brilliant video. Explains so much. Such a nice, smart nona who can cook AND teach. I made this recently for my family but wish I'd seen this first. I can believe how the butter on top would elevate it. And to have extra sauce on the side.
It sounds like you’ve mastered this exceptional dish! Buon Appetito!
Grazie! I've been enjoying other videos you made, as well. Great, mouth-watering dishes with excellent tips on how to make them beautifully. Thank you so very much!!
you remind me of my Nana... she took her lasagne recipe to her grave, so now I have yours... thank you
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. aLL SO WELL EXPLAINED AND SO SIMPLE. ENJOYED VERY MINUTE OF IT. CAN'T WAIT TO START ON YOUR LOVELY RECIPES.
Most cooking is basically simple, and I enjoy showing the simplicity of most recipes!

Thank you for sharing your scrumptious recipe and HappyHolidays.
Thank you, Millette, and Happy Holidays to you too!
I had (and cooked) many Lasagnas, and all of them were slightly different, but never had heavy cream added, though it sounds delicious. Definitely going to try your recipe this week, thank you for sharing!
I love your presentation❤
Thank you!
thanks my lady
Bravissima
The lasagne looks amazing, Giovanna! Thank you. Merry Christmas!! 😊
.....and the taste just as good! Merry Christmas to you too!

Spinach pasta is the best pasta
Giovanna--just love your videos--since I know you well, just seeing you and experiencing your talent is so wonderful! And getting to see Howard at the end! Merry Merry Christmas to you both! Love, Betty
Thank you Betty Dear; I love the way these videos bring us close to our friends near and far. The world keeps getting smaller as we are all affectionately bound together! Howard also sends his love! Merry Christmas to you!
@@GiovannaBelliaLaMarca You are so right! I am so grateful for this, since we no longer see each other on Star Island!
I love spinach and tomato noodles. Haven't made em yet myself. But I have made speatzle from broccoli and potatoes. Adds such an extra depth of flavour and nutrients. I hate waste. Anything that may be usable gets frozen until it's time, and I haven't had a complaint yet.
Thanks for sharing this recipe.
I have already made lasagne using your ragu recipe from a previous video for the sauce.
A Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I hope that you will also try and like this version as much as we do. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!
I'm not Italian, but this is the way I make Lasagne too & I've always made it that way but I do make my own fresh pasta sheets too.
I like mine heavy on the garlic side 😋😋
That giant sized lasagne that covers the whole pan is very cool, have never seen that before...
We use Barilla lasagne #189, but we don't soak or boil it, just layer it dry, and it softens in the process of cooking. Before putting in the oven we pour a cup of white wine over the assembled lasagne, and when covered with foil that provides all the moisture it needs.
I love you and your family.
Buon Natale Giovanna! I wish you and your family well during the holidays. When the grocery opens tomorrow, I buy the ingredients and will make this for my meals next week. Will also purchase your books during the New Year--they look absolutely wonderful.
I just noticed that a new edition of your Sicilian book is coming out this April! Hooray!
Thank you Christian and enjoy the New Year in good health harmony and peace!
