You have a sad life Ivry! Wilhelm Kempff Emil Gilels Radu Lupu Vladimir Ashkenazy had More colorful beautiful piano sound than Buchbinder! Dimitri Bashkirov her teacher Anastasia Virsaladze teach saying to Bashkirov the most important lesson is the love of beautiful colorful piano sound! This was already in 1930s! Really Shocking!

Most of what the conductor is there for takes place in the rehearsals. In a lot of cases the orchestra is so good that at the conductor could walk off the stage and the orchestra would pull it off as if he or she were still standing there.

The only pianist who finds the RIGHT tempo for the 2nd movement, not boaring slow motion but a fresh, vibrant Adagio. Perfect!!

I feel an urge to say that I have mixed feelings about this kind of performances. Not that I find anything wrong with Rudolf Buchbinder. On the contrary, his relationhip with the piano fascinates me but I'm missing here the moving eye contact with the conductor. If members of an orchestra are able to offer us their splendid interpretations while the soloist requires the intense concentration he needs, it seems they don't "need" a conductor.
Hopefully, I'm mistaken. Because please, don't misunderstand me. I enjoy this music with all my fiber.
    Cheers.-

It appear to me, that more than the eye contact with the director, my major proble here, is the strings absolutely not convincing at all.
