Hey Matt, thanks muchly for posting the video! I'll rewatch later (and also go watch the BTS).
    Some random comments:
-- I found it inspiring. Made me want to get out and shoot.
-- One thing I'm struck by is the amount of "scenes" you had, the amount of material. I think it's a huge task to get on top of all that, compress it into 10 minutes, make all the shots make sense, and get some sort of coherent story out of the dialogue. So, amazing job by you and Archaius Creative. I often get overwhelmed by quantity of material when I edit.
-- I have a lot to learn from you about structure, and how to interweave scenes.
-- A critical content (apologies!). Got to say I was a little bored; I thought the opening montage was wow, but then there was a feeling of, "But have I seen all the good bits already?" And I started to skip forward a bit. I think part of this is repetition. Eg: multiple places in the video where you see drone shots of the area and riding-the-bull shots or bride-in-the-morning shots.
-- I think many videographers try to make every shot eye-catching. You know, every shot is some weird angle, or is a silhouette, or is striking in some way. Closest film/TV analogies that come to mind: I think Breaking Bad often tries for interesting/unusual shots, and I think many Coen Brothers movies do as well.... Anyway, I didn't really see that here, and I *don't* think the video needed it; I think you had solid coverage that was in focus, well-composed, well-exposed that captured the moments. And one thing that wedding videographers forget (or maybe never knew) is that (traditionally anyway) cinematography should serve the story; it shouldn't draw attention to itself, and shouldn't distract. If you constantly have images that draw attention, maybe that adds absurdity or comedy (eg Wes Anderson).... This is not to say that the video was devoid of wow shots! But I think you usually put story in front of "Look at me".
-- I'm struck by the way a wedding depends a lot on the personality of the bride. She sets the tone on the day itself, and sets the tone of the video. If she's crazy about dancing, then she pulls everyone else onto the floor like a magnet. Well, if your subscribers think back on this video in a year or two, what will they remember? I think they'll remember bride dancing in swimsuit, grabbing butt, and yelling at everyone to go take a crap before hitting dance floor. So, well done on conveying her personality. And I think the audience comes away from the video with a much stronger sense of who the bride is than who the groom is, and that's probably as it should be!
-- Super 8mm stuff is really interesting! I'd be interested in your making a video about this, if you haven't already. I'm thinking about incorporating this in my work, but I just don't know. Absolutely worked great here, but I tend to think 8mm footage has a retro, old-timey, home video feel, so maybe it suits weddings that are a little vintage/rustic/quirky (more so than some city wedding in a function centre). [Edit: just found your super 8mm videos. Thank you!]
-- You know how you play "Where's Waldo?" when you're critiquing other people's films? You notice the videographer? Well, I wasn't trying to spot camera guys or gear, but I did notice big fluffy dead animals attached to jackets! That said, I'm in the middle of editing an outdoor wedding where I didn't use any "protection" on my mics, and the wind noise is killing me. So, yeah, that's the trade-off!
-- I clicked on the link to your gear list and saw that you're using a prism. I'll probably go buy that prism on your recommendation and test it out! But an alternative to think about (if you haven't see it already) is the omni crystal set by Lensbaby. There's about a dozen little crystals that attach magnetically to a filter ring. I've mainly used them during reception dancing to kind of heighten the craziness, but the demo videos on TH-cam show them being used in photo portrait sessions.

Heaps of effort but looks cool and retro. Did the couple request it?

Watching your finished video along with what you did shooting it is a real lesson in the favor you're doing for yourself, as a filmmaker, to shoot as much B-Roll as you possibly can to allow yourself to create scenes on multiple levels. Present time, earlier time, whatever... Your final edit will be be that much better. This applies not just to wedding videos, but to all videos you may be creating.

I have a very particular question: for this wedding video, did you give the clients 2 separate versions of the video? One for personal use and one that can be shared online. Because I have clients ask me if I can put specific big name artist's music to their videos, and I tell them that can only be done if they keep the video for personal use instead of promoting a channel or Instagram of theirs. Anyways, just curious if you've had such requests before?

Matt, love everything you do for us wedding filmmakers. But I don't know, it just felt like this film was 5 different films jammed into 12 minutes. I feel like it could have been a shorter film with a little better storytelling. Like some parts were great on their own, but didn't really fit in with the entire film as a whole, and felt like the fade to blacks were couples with song endings and I could expect where the "next part" started.
