I failed the quest twice before, eventually, killing it. I will definitely get a health regen augmentation and some health boost before fighting it again, that's for sure.
I really wish monster grabs were more lethal I feel it's just kinda ruins them that you can just roll away before it attacks why not just make it so you have to use your slinger to stun the monster could punish unready hunters that don't keep their slinger loaded with something or bring flash shots and if their slinger isn't loaded but brung flashes give them the ability to equip a slinger ammo shot while in the grab animation
Yeah but monsters who grab you have a tight window to dodge when they wind up. DG got hit easily with rajangs slam after a grab because its fast. But for deviljho, he has a larger window for you to get away but you can use dung pods to shoot at his face before he can gnaw at you.
To avoid more grey hairs I get a mate to hunt with me. When it comes to monsters like Rajang when they sleep I lay the traps then he knocks it out with a sleep bomb. Fast and efficient.

Now there's no real pattern which is good since Rajang should be as savage as possible which a more chaotic, unpredictable encounter represents much better. That and the lack of clear patterns makes it harder to actually learn him.
In freedom unite in the area quest it takes about 10-15 minutes for the big rajang to come in so if you didn't defeat the smaller rajang in time you'll be fighting the much more bigger beast
