“It’s just a baby!”
The player base: “That don’t stop us from killing it :P.”
😂 fair enough 🤗
Just a baby that can wipe out most life as we know it.
Wait until it grows up
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Just wait until you see what it’s supposed to mature into(post-Iceborne content)
isn't BABY dragon
An interesting fact about Nergigante is that it’s an elder dragon that almost exclusively eats other elder dragons. Meaning that thing actively hunts down monsters that are considered walking catastrophes as its primary food source. Early on when you see them fighting one on the back of Zorah Magdoros (about 8:19 in the video) it was very likely trying to hunt the thing for dinner, and the hunters were all getting in its way
Imagine trying to have a nice meal and then people run into the restaurant to hunt you 😝
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames
People: Eat to survive!
Nergigante: Survive to eat!
You allmost got it! Nergigante specificly Hunts Elder Dragons who are Dying or just extremely weak.
As we saw in the game. He hunted zorah who was litereally on his last jorney to his grave, he tried to kill a very weak and hurt Teostra but when Lunastra apeared he imediatly left knowing he whoudnt be able to defeat a healthy elder dragon or atleast it whoudnt be worth it to do so with the risk of life threathening damage.
He was also searching for Shara Ishvalda but was stoped by us making him pass out from the fight with us. As we nearly killed Shara, nergigante took the opportunity to fully kill Shara while it was weakened from the battle.
So Nergigante is pretty much the Vulture of Elder dragons.
@@draw2death421 He doesn't exclusively hunt weak or dying Elder Dragons. Not all the Elder Dragons in the New World are old or about to die.
@@dariusswinney3417 proof?
The fruit the barroth gets shot in the eye with is kind if like a natural grown frag grenade.
Dodogama is the chonkiest boi and the community loves him
😎👍
more like a stun grenade but yeah basically
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames people love the dodogama because it's tail is tasty, you can cook it in the canteen :D
Also it's called a scatternut
People cry when they have to kill him!! he is just the goodest boy.
Just gonna add some context and motivations for the characters hunting down these monsters.
Basically we play as a bodyguard/hunter type deal for the field scientists like the woman frequently showed in the cutscenes. We help kill or capture monsters for research, or to help balance the ecosystem. The latter part is especially true for monsters classified as Elder Dragons.
Elder Dragons are basically living disasters capable destroying ecosystems and killing an entire state worth of people if they were to rampage. Multiple were shown here, and the lion one you guys liked (Teostra) is said to emit enough heat to turn an entire desert into glass in just a day.
You can basically tell that hunting down monsters is a way of life, both for knowledge and keeping the world in balance.
Don’t forget to add harvesting resources and materials from the monsters themselves to survive and create new technologies to increase your chances of survival, since the world is very much overflowing with monsters of all shapes and sizes and humanity is more or less a “blip” in comparison, hence why excessive hunting is never a real issue simply because of how many there are compared to Humanity.
@@moonrock115 Let me add to this.
The Hunters Guild basically exists to regulate hunting, in order to keep the balance. Too much hunting can lead to an ecosystem's collapse, and in consequence, society's collapse, since humans are also part of the balance. Poaching is illegal, and considered taboo.
@@BlazeReborn2 yup exactly right - plus some monsters are so dangerous that they pose a threat not just to people, but the ecosystem as well. Take Kushala Daora for instance: a dragon with a hide of metal and the ability to control the weather, creating devastating typhoons and tornado’s just by being in the area.
Thanks for the extra context and giving us a little more info on the game and world 😀🤩
@@moonrock115 Another example is the all mighty pickle, aka Deviljho, who is mentioned to destroy ecosystems due to his fast metabolysm, making him a non-stop eating machine. The Hunter's Guild have to deal with them as soon as they are spotted anywhere.
I like how the hunter gets to fight the apocalypse for like 2500 dollars.
He's like : hey , ten buck are ten bucks.
😂
Ok ok,to be fair we do get to make fancy armor and weapons out of them,it's not all about the money
in MH Rise, satan comes out of hell and you have to kill him. sort of satan, giant monster the size of a building with bloodsucking pet butterflies and explosions and fire.
@@zeehero7280 Do you mean Malzeno?
Honestly, in all the games I have played I think that the Monster Hunter Franchise has the coolest designs for their monsters. I just love it every time you get introduced to a new one. Just so exciting to find out how it behaves and what it's moves are. The feeling gets even better when you fight them over and over again and eventually get so used to their attacks that it almost becomes a dance of sort.
Man, I love Monster Hunter... it's awesome. I'd definitely recommend Monster Hunter World if you like a good challenge and some amazing bossfights :D
mhw was my first mh game, thought it was a dark souls spinoff with how tough it was at first
My favorite part of Monster Hunter designs is that they are fantastical yet still follow an obvious ruleset for the world(aside from some Elder Dragons, of course).
When a monster is supposed to be able to fly, they retain the believable aspects of a slimmer body and massive wings. When a monster is supposed to spend most of its time burrowing, it is given a more streamlined body and powerful instruments to rend the ground beneath it.
They follow this ruleset so uniformly to the point where speculative evolutionary branches can be guessed at(the massive wyverns, Ukanlos and Akantor, could be seen as more close in the evolutionary line to Tigrex and Barioth than the likes of, say, Rathalos and Seregios).
@@BadWolfPlayer Goodluck on the older games if you ever decide to play them, world is the easiest one
@@RebeccaChambersIRL yikes, any recommendations to where itll be a challenge but not have me go bald
@@BadWolfPlayer probably generations ultimate but that is a switch exclusive
I am playing through it right now and it been pretty easy to get use to the old gen controls in gu and the hunter arts are basically a more complicated version of rises switch skills
Kushala Daora is the Embodiment of Storms. Can create tornadoes, hurricanes and summons heavy rainfalls. A true Shadow Upon the Tempest.
😯
There is something magical about seeing each of these monsters and fighting them for the first time. Seeing your different reactions for each monster felt like i was watching them over again for the first time.
Glad you could experience them again through fresh eyes 😀
If you were to react to more Monster Hunter it would be good to watch the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Monster intros, Monster Hunter Rise Monster intros, Punk Duck How to Monster Hunter World, Team Darkside Monster Hunter World: All Monsters size comparison and Maxor Monster Hunter World review.
How about just leave it at Monster hunter world iceborne monster intros
@@ThatsOk83 nah
The size comparisons are something I'd really like for them to react to. Having the 3rd gen, 10th anni, and 15th anni videos all in one reaction would give them not just a scope of how big the monsters can get, but also a scope of just how many different species of monsters there are in the franchise.
I advocate heavily for the iceborne intros and especially Punk Duck’s “How to Monster Hunter”
@@koibitothescrublord4977 Yep, graphics are everything after all. Especially Rise. Want monster variety? Some color? Nah, just do random flying wyverns because graphics.
You two please don't listen to that trash comment, MH Rise monster intros are super fun and perfect for a reaction channel, especially with the Japanese dub.
I just love how these creatures been designed and how they are revealed from their environment is splendid, nice reaction for Monster Hunter
Glad you enjoyed the reaction. We liked checking these monster designs out as well and look forward to seeing more from the series 😀
The important thing about monster hunter is that the monsters are like living creatures. They have their place in the ecosystem and there’s a physiological reason for their abilities
The worst thing about that last one is that it actually sounds like a puppy, too. Like, not only did it just hatch, it also stumbles around and whimpers like a newborn puppy and it's so heartbreaking to fight. It's just a puppy. A big, alien-looking, elderdragon puppy but puppy!
And you're correct. MH is mainly about keeping the ecosystem intact with a little bit of protecting settlements of more helpless people who are researchers, merchants, just people who hunters need to have behind their back as well.
That makes us feel even worse! Poor elder dragon monster pup 😢
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGamesif you do end up watching the iceborne trailers without spoiling too much the baby dragon may have a bit of a growth spurt 😆
Oltura in Stories 2 is in the same vein as Xeno'jiiva. Ena outright states that it's just an animal that wants to live. The problem is that if it was just left alone it's mere existence could basically end all life on the planet. So there's literally no choice available to us other than killing it.
The hunters guild correctly considers humans part of said ecosystem. so protecting humans is just as important as protecting monsters, in fact humans/wyverians/felynes take priority due to the law of nature being you protect yourself first.
However all effort is always made to not harm the environment as there is a place for all of it.
This game was my entry to the Monster Hunter franchise when it released back in 2018, and to this day it's still in my Top 10 favorite games of all time.
😎🤟🥳
my first MH Game was MH3, but World really was what got me hooked on MH later on. at the time I had MH3 my life was much more full of medical crap emergency stuff I didn't have enough time to really sit down and learn a complex and challenging game like old school MH which had a learning curve comparable to a sheer cliff.
World is amazing and has an actual learning curve, with real thought put into the order of monsters you face in low rank til u start high rank. also the scoutfly tracking beats paintballs in every way.
2:04 I can relate with Kulu-Ya-Ku. I remember the days when I was a kid looking for treasure of my own. Mainly rocks to paint.
As a die hard Monster Hunter fan, I am so happy you went through all of these!
Glad you enjoyed them and we had fun checking them out for the first time. Looking forward to more from this series 😀
The best part about these monster introduction videos is that when you play the game, you look at it and think "I gotta figure out how to kill that."
Haha 😎🤟
When I was starting on the monster hunter franchise, the ones that terrorized me the most were the tigrex and the nargacuga. Agile, does a lot of damage and holy heck the tigrex is pretty scary the way it charges at you.
Tigrex, charges at you knocks you down and before you can get up, repeats the same, over and over and over and over and over.
Nargacuga, it's a bat, its a cat, it's a puppy on crack acid! also it can move faster than light, apparently.
One of the most addicting games I've ever played lol, played thousand of hours on this game. Can't wait for the next mainline title successor.
😎🤟
You mean rise, out now on steam and switch?
@@unintentionally_edgy5867 Rise is ok, but what I'm waiting for is the next-gen title that will be on next gen consoles and pc.
@@unintentionally_edgy5867 Rise does not count as mainline in the same way. there are 2 mainlines. Handheld, which rise is part of, developed by a seperate team, and Console - (and PC now) developed by the same folks who did World.
I now it's inevitable at this point for you both to react to more of the Monster Hunter games, but's it's still feels incredible watching your reaction to arguably one of my most favourite game of all time.
I remember preordering the deluxe edition of both the base game and the expansion while I was studying. Brings back the memories lol.
I wonder if more MH reactions are on their way....

So im not sure if it was mentioned but the steamies at 27:09 is a bacteria in the monster hunter world called effluvium. Basically it helps break down the bodies in the Rotten Vale, the mass graveyard for monsters in the area. Vaal Hazak has a symbiotic relationship with the effluvium an can control it. He is known as the Corpse Coat Dragon. He's one of my personal favorites.
My clan and I used to have tons of quick/silly nicknames that we’d call some of the monsters. Hope they make you laugh!
Kulu-Ya-Ku was dodo raptor
Jyuratodus was Mudkip
Lavasioth was obviously Lavakip
Anjanath was butt flaps (you know why)
Tzitzi-Ya-Ku was Solar flare
Paolumu was Balloon bat
Tobi-Kadachi was electric squirrel
Uragaan was Rollie
Kushala Daora was Wind Tunnel
Teostra was either Toasty or FireCat
Vaal Hazak was Reaper
Some were just shortenings like-
Legiana was just Leggy
Pukei-Pukei was just Pukey
Odogaron was Odi
Nergigante was Nergy
Diablos was just its name in the most Spanish accent we could come up with followed by “Madre de dios!”
Obviously, most of these callouts were followed by massive cursing and screaming.
Butt flaps 😂🤣 so perfect
Uragaan is Jay Leno. Look at its face!
We called Anjanath Angela, and Odogaron was Odoggo.
@@chromaticblue3976 Anjanath for my friends and I is either Anjy or Anjany. The latter being one of them legitimately forgetting its name and with the straightest face, calling Anjanath "Anjany". We tease him for it.
I personally like calling him Anjaloaf because of the way he sits down when relaxing. He's like a cat loafing with all its legs tucked in under him. Very cute.
One thing I appreciate about this game is the audio design of the Monsters' cries. Their cries sound like it could really be a real cry from a creature's larynx. And they each have their own personality.
and Bazelguese. the living air raid siren/bomber combo!
12:23 the little guy is your palico, basically super intelligent cats that stand on two legs that’s your partner.
Oh, nice! Hunting cat 😀
i love MHW ho much and it made me laugh when you said, "some of the bosses" because every single fight is basically a boss battle
😂🤗
Oh sweet monster intros to Monster Hunter World, there's a series called Monster Match-up by a TH-camr named Papa Gabe, this man goes into detail about all the monsters you'll come across in the New World. Also these monsters are no joke except for Great Jagras, and a few others, however the dangerous ones that you should be wary of are called Elder Dragons.
Just from playing other fantasy games, we know not to F with Elder Dragons 🐉 🤗
The Greatest Jagras would like a word with you... then it would like to one-shot you
I hope you realize these are all in-engine, realtime cutscenes that transition seamlessly to gameplay. Even after the 3000 hours I've put into this game, its size, scope and craftsmanship still amazes me.
🤩😎🤟
27:20 This is my absolute favorite moment of the reaction. This is what happens when you live together for a extended amount of time. :D
🤣 there have been other vids where we tilt our heads at the same time as well 😛
If you watch the MONSTER HUNTER RISE monster intros in the future, be sure to watch the version with Japanese voice and English titles because it's like listening to KABUKI THEATER!
Haha, we generally avoid subtitles if we can because we end up reading more than reacting but we will give this some consideration for sure 😀
The way Ken said Kulu Ya Ku caught me off guard😂
😆😛🤗
Fun fact about Teostra, it has a mate whose name is Lunastra and when you fight with them in the same area they have a unique area of attack that is like a supernova
😯
Make sure you are out of that area when that happens 😨
Thats no joke, if yall are curious about it, i would be honored to help ya'll if you play the game on ps4

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames It's no problem, next world video now is the iceborne monster intros. Hope you enjoy them too
10:26 First fleet arrived at New World 40 years ago prior to the game, so the "fancy sword" veteran is quite old compared to the adventurers around. If he had came with the fleet as a teenager adventurer then he's in his fifties bare minimum.
😯
Monster hunter is awesome you should play the MHW one
Also FUN FACT : 17:40 In this scene Barroth was just eating termites while destroying those hives, but in doing so, he got into the territory of a bigger animal(Diablos who is a herbivor too like barroth) . That's why I love MH, it's not just evil monsters like a ramdom CGI Hollywood monster, these monsters act like real coherent animals !
And also rathian is the female of Rathalos
And you should listen to some MH music, it's pretty good like zinogre theme or Brachydios theme
Also in MH, Hunters doesn't hunt for sport. They hunt to save the world.Certain Monsters(called Elder dragon like Teostra or the New born thing in the end) are so powerful that their simple existence is a danger to the ecosystem. Like for example, if Kushala Daora come to a forest, it will instantly rain with a dangereous strom
Also 27:45 Nice quote from Shang Tsung
Whoa thanks for sharing the fun fact! And as we get more into MH maybe we will check out some music from the franchise 🤔🙂
You correct term would be insectivore
You speak of MHW music and you do not tell them of the legendary B52 bomber music????
How could you! :'D
@@Lator_the_Gator He also eat fruits
Going back and rewatching this reminds me just how annoying our "handler" was. I mean, yea, as a Hunter, it is our job to protect her when she is out doing research in the field. But more often than not, she was actively running into some of the most dangerous situations, deliberately putting herself into harms way almost constantly and getting surprised when she gets attacked, and thus being the reason why we end up fighting a lot of the monsters because they end up trying to attack her.
Welcome to Monster Hunter!
Quick context. Hunters are people who work for The Guild, the main governing force of the series. They slay and capture monsters to study and learn about them while harvesting their bodies for resources and also take down threats to the natural order such as bigger scarier monsters. This is not poaching. The Guild actually outlaws poaching and it’s seen as very very bad. Think of this more like hunter gatherer rather than killing for sport.
Below will be timestamps for every monster with some extra information. Name and classification.
1:46 Great Jagras. Fanged Wyvern. These are the much larger alphas of the smaller Jagras. They swallow herbivorous prey whole for easy consumption or to store to throw up for its pack to feast on.
2:03 Kulu Ya-Ku. Bird Wyvern. These creatures have evolved special hands that allow them to firmly grasp round objects such as eggs that they often steal from other monsters and eat. They also have been known to pick up pots and large stones to act as shields or blunt smashing weapons for combat.
2:42 Pukei Pukei. Bird Wyvern. A large creature capable of flight. Pukei Pukei use their long tongues to scoop up and eat nuts, plants, and various mushrooms. These then are broken down into a poison it can spit out of its mouth or spew as a large cloud of gas from its tail.
4:13 Barroth. Brute Wyvern. These heavily armoured creatures often spend their time submerged in mud. This mud can harden on their shells and act as extra body armour. They use their string head crests to smash open termite mounds and eat the little insects inside. Their noses are made up of multiple pipe-like hopes on the top of this credit, which helps them breathe while submerged in the muck.
5:56 Jyuratodus. Piscine Wyvern. A wyvern that has evolved to act like a fish. It lives in muddy swamps and has surprisingly long legs.
6:26 Tobi Kadachi. Fanged Wyvern. Tobi are flying squirrel-like creatures with snake faces that live in trees. They can absorb trace amounts of static electricity from the trees they climb and can generate their own with their sporadic and rapid movements. They can use this electricity to charge them selves up during combat. They also can shoot the quills on their tails like throwing darts.
7:24 Anjanath. Brute Wyvern. A trex-like Monster. It produced a thick mucous that it can spit to Mark it’s territory. Anjanath have a flame sac filled with a highly flammable dust-like material. Anjanath can shoot it out of its nose and mouth and let it catch fire. Anjanath also can release a bony/cartilage structure from their snouts that basically opens up their nasal cavity, allowing them to not only smell better but also intake more oxygen to help keep their fire going. Anjanath can also deploy two sails on their backs that help with bodily heat regulation to prevent heat stroke.
8:06 Zorah Magdaros. Elder Dragon. A gigantic monster known as a moving volcano. It is turtle-like in build with a shell that can produce magma. Basically it’s just big.
8:26 Nergigante. Elder Dragon. Known as the World Eater, it primarily preys on other Elder Dragons for sustenance. Due to its lifestyle, it’s believed it is meant to be the species that retains order by keeping the other dangerous monster populations low. Nergigante are covered in sharp spikes that if used to tackle people with. If lost or broken, these spikes regenerate at an extremely fast rate thanks to its high metabolism. Nergigante was trying to hunt Zorah here.
10:55 Tzitzi Ya-Ku. Bird Wyvern. These raptor like monster use their peculiar head bits to refract light and cause a flashbang effect in front of them. This is extremely effective against the smaller Shamos that live in the area whom have extremely sensitive eyesight. Large flashes of light are also very effective against flying targets, like small birds it may eat.
11:28 Paolumu. Flying Wyvern. Using an air sac on its neck, it can inhale a ton of air and float like a balloon. It primarily feeds on coral by vacuum sucking in particles of coral that are on the coral trees. Sudden flashes of light can cause it to fall out of the air. The light thing works on anything that’s not touching the ground.
11:47 Great Girros. A gross lizard that feeds on rotting flesh and corpses. It uses its strange neck fringes to make calls and nosies to help control its smaller underlings, Girros.
12:44 Radobaan. Brute Wyvern. A large Monster covered in a tar-like substance. It travels by rolling around like a wheel, sticking bones to itself for protection. Uses its massive chin as a smashing weapon.
13:35 Legiana. Flying Wyvern. A creature that produces a liquid that when shot out of pores on its wings instantaneously freeze into ice upon contact with air. Extremely skilled in flying. Considered the apex predator of the Coral Highlands.
14:42 Odogaron. Fanged Wyvern. Adapted to live in a location filled with toxic gas and bacteria, it primarily feeds on fallen corpses and rotting flesh. Extremely fast. It uses its secondary pair of hidden razor sharp claws to inflict bleed on potential living targets to feed on them. Considered the apex predator of the Rotten Vale. It is being shot at and deterred by poop from a slingshot.
16:09 Rathalos. Flying Wyvern. Rathalos is the mascot of the franchise, being present in every game and being the face of the series. He’s even in Super Smash Bros as a boss! Rathalos breathe fireballs from their mouths and also can produce a potent venom in their talons. They mostly hunt by flying around and finding prey with their sharp eyesight. They are the male equivalent to Rathian, a monster that unfortunately did not get an intro cutscene. It is considered the apex predator of the Ancient Forest.
18:57 Diablos. Flying Wyvern. A monster adapted to digging through the sand. Due to its heavy body armour it lost the ability of prolonged flight. It uses its two giant horns to duel others of its species for dominance and also suplexing other monsters. Despite its appearance, it’s actually an Herbivore that eats cactus. It is considered the apex monster of the Wildspire Wastes.
21:06 Pink Rathian. Flying Wyvern. Subspecies. Pink Rathian are a subspecies of the regular Rathian which is green. Rathian are like Rathalos but prefer fighting on the ground and instead of venomous talons, they have many venomous spines on their tails. They often do backflips to try and poison attackers. Pink Rathian differs from the average Rathian due to it having slightly tougher scales on its body.
Rathalos also has a subspecies called Azure Rathalos. It’s blue and basically flies forever, rarely touching the ground during combat unless you throw a flashbang at it.
21:21 Dodogama. Fanged Wyvern. A rotund and chubby lizard that primarily eats rocks and crystal. Extremely passive. When it consumes certain stones, it smells them down into explosive globs of lava that it can spit. Very cute fellow.
22:18 Lavasioth. Piscine Wyvern. These monsters swim in and live in lava and magma. They also drink it. They can spit globs of the stuff as an offensive measure. They can ask stick lava on their bodies that cools into a rocky armour.
22:42 Uragaan. Brute Wyvern. A close relative of Radobaan. They roll around as a transportation method. They can also deploy spherical rock-like bombs from their tails. They also can eject a large amount of sleep inducing gas from their underbellies for some reason. Also fights with its chin. The tremors caused by its chin can cause its bombs to explode.
25:06 Kushala Daora. Elder Dragon. A dragon covered in a metallic shell across its entire body. It has the mysterious power to manipulate wind, storm, and create tornados. These often pick up small objects like rocks, fire, or crystals. Still being researched as to how it controls wind.
25:53 Teostra. Elder Dragon. Capable of breathing an extremely large amount of fire. Teostra’s most dangerous ability is its blast powder. Bits of Teostra’s hair, scales, and skin flakes will fly into the air as it moves and flaps its wings. By then gnashing its jaws together, if can create a spark like flint and steel which causes a massive chain reaction of explosions thanks to the combustible material. Teostra have been known to raid human settlements and fortresses, eating all the gunpowder, and then flying away. It fights you with its dandruff.
28:02 Vaal Hazak. Elder Dragon. A disgusting and mysterious monster that covers itself in flesh. It has a symbiotic relationship with a flesh eating bacteria known as Effluvium. It uses this during combat to quickly end targets. Yucky, smells bad.
29:47 Xeno’Jiiva. Elder Dragon. The result of many Monster’s Bioenergy culminating into one place to birth an extremely dangerous monster. When monsters die, their Bioenergy is released into the earth and into the Everstream, a river of life that produces plants and stuff. This is why the Coral Highlands exist. A lot of that Bioenergy however got redirected here and made blue alien baby who can shoot laser beams.
Almost every monster can be explained biologically. They aren’t demons or nightmare spawns, they’re animals. Freaky animals, but animals. They have their ecological niches and roles in the environment. The exceptions are about half of the Elder Dragons who we simply do not understand yet due to them being so rare and dangerous to be close to.
Also important to note that the Guild isn’t this external force. They, and all the people they govern over, are part of this ecosystem. They have their own roles to play in maintaining the order but also learning and being one with nature.
Great Girros - “ a gross lizard..” 😂 could’ve just left it at that as that’s spot on description 🤢😜
Though granted there are the collab hunts that brings beings from other franchises in dlc for the game ie: Ancient Leshen from Witcher and Behemoth from Final Fantasy.

The Kulu Ya-Ku is actually an opportunist. It likely grabbed that vase because it looked kinda like an egg, and Kulu Ya-Ku will invade the nests of other monsters to steal eggs, which it will then eat. But they are cowardly by nature, so if confronted by a larger monster (or one or more hunters), they will be extremely likely to just run away rather than fight. But they're also unique in that if they are forced to fight, they will actually grab objects form the environment around them to use as weapons (this usually involves it just grabbing a large rock and using it as both an impromptu shield and bludgeon).
Thanks for telling us more about the Kula Ya-Ku 🙂

Teostra is a personal favorite, too. As a SnS main, his Teostra’s Spada is awesome! I recommend looking up his weapons! I'd love to see more Monster Hunter from you guys. Especially some of the pre-World stuff, such as the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate monster intros. There were some truly amazing intros in that one. They might have been less graphically striking, due to being older and from a handheld console, but I feel they more than make up for it in how they introduced each monster. Yay I'm happy you two got to see these beasties. I hope you get to see the Monster Hunter Rise introduction cutscenes, because those showoff each monster their personality and with poetry.
We plan to check more out for sure 😀🥳
actually the guy is cheering because in monster hunter ingame world hunting monster is joy ..and they love hunting ..they hunt, sleep and eat.. that's their life.. sometimes the big monster's attack are annual and they treat them like festivals..
😯😀
In addition to the Iceborn monsters intro and the one of Monster Hunter Rise I'd recommend giving a shot to the turf war the game shows you when specific monsters come face to face against each other they're honestly really good kinda cutscene the game offer you while you're playing
Turf Wars sound like a lot of fun 😀
The Monster Hunter franchise is one really close to my heart alongside Final Fantasy and the FromSoft lineage of games.
What stood out to me most about World compared to a lot of the games I've played is that you could be hunting a monster and literally as you're running to the one you're hunting, you see the other monsters just chilling in the world and minding their own business.
On the hunt to a Rathian? You might find a Diablos munching on Cacti
Not only that, there's also how couple-monsters react when their significant other is threatened. Imagine fighting a Rathalos and his wife, the Rathian, comes in and backflips on you. Imagine fighting a Teostra and his wife, the Lunastra, comes in and they do a tag-team special attack that can knock you out if you don't get far enough away.
I just love how the world feels alive and how it feels like you're just another link in the food chain, you do your thing and they do theirs. There's even the free-roaming options where you can hop into a map with no target and you can just go around, exploring the entire map, even finding passageways and shortcuts you wouldn't have known if you kept going through the route your scoutflies guide you.
I really want you guys to try out Monster Hunter World if you haven't, especially Iceborne as it has you fight the "Black God" itself, FATALIS, a grand fight that left many players burnt and unable to finish but there are many more who pushed through and took down the great dragon to claim their prize... then beat it several more times to make an armor set out of the dragon
Fitting that you like the game when you play the fromsoftware games as well as we’ve heard both games have challenging gameplay that makes sure you don’t get off easy. We aren’t quite at that level yet but hoping to get there. 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames If ever, I highly suggest Monster Hunter first, the Souls franchise is... well... Let's say at least you keep your currency when you get knocked out in Monster Hunter XD
All of the monsters here are divided into certain classifications that show how they're related. I highly recommend watching the intros for Iceborne and Rise as well, since they show more monsters. Here are all the classifications in the series (discounting small monsters). Beware, there's a lot of reading ahead.
Fanged wyvern: These are either the big lizards or big dogs (Great Jagras, Odogaron). Fun fact: Until this game, there was only one monster in the series that was classified as a fanged wyvern - the thunder wolf Zinogre and its subspecies from the third generation. It wouldn't be until the fifth generation (World + Rise) that new fanged wyverns would arrive.
Flying wyvern: Two wings and two legs (Rathalos, Rathian, Legiana).
Pseudo-wyvern: A subset of flying wyvern that uses their wings as forelimbs (none shown in this video).
Bird wyvern: Either raptor-like monsters (Kulu-Ya-Ku) or smaller, feathered flying wyverns (Pukei-Pukei).
Piscine wyvern: Big fish with legs (Jyruatodus, Lavasioth).
Brute wyvern: Similar in structure to a T-rex (Anjanath, Barroth, Radobaan, Uragaan).
Snake wyvern: Big snake - only one in the entire series - Najarala (not shown).
Fanged beast: Ape- or bear-like monsters, with one being a giant mammoth (none shown in this video).
Leviathan: Semi- or fully-aquatic monsters specialized in swimming - in Monster Hunter Tri, you could actually fight them underwater, but not anymore (none shown in this video).
Amphibians: Most similar to frogs or other amphibious creatures (none shown in this video).
Neopterons: Big insect-like creatures (none shown in this video).
Carapaceons: Big crab-like creatures (none shown in this video).
Temnocerans: Big spider-like creatures (none shown in this video).
Elder Dragon: Immensely powerful creatures that don't fit into any other class - mostly resemble traditional dragons (Teostra, Nergigante, Kushala Daora, Vaal Hazak), but there are exceptions, such as the unicorn-like Kirin.
I know that this is a lot, and if you're still reading, thank you.
A lot of info but we appreciate you sharing all of this with us. We will most likely need refresher course along the way as we continue to dive into Monster Hunter 🙂
As a person who found the channel through this video and as a long standing monster hunter fan it is really cool to see all the intros again and the reactions to them, this game is to put it simply an absolute masterpiece and I really recommend it ^^
Welcome! 🥳🥳😎🤟 Glad this video could introduce you to the channel and you got to see the intros through some fresh eyes. It’s a franchise we plan to explore more 😀
Teostra has a female counterpart who is called Lunastra they're representing the Sun and the Moon. Their crown like horns gives them the ability to rule over the fire flawlessly. Teostra is the Emperor of Flames and Lunastra is the Empress.
Love it 🤩
Best part is a lot of the earlier cutscenes will show actual gameplay mechanics, like the scatternut to the Barroths Eye, telling us that wedge beetles exist with Jyura, and dropping the boulder on Anjanath. Even the 2nd cutscene in the game where the Anjanath first shows up it shows that sometimes when dodging it does a little leap instead of a roll.
One thing to note is that these creatures don't need your pity to spare them. This a savage world where giant monsters like these are very common, and humanity isn't here to destroy the environment and render animals extinct like the real world.
In fact, it play the opposite way. Because of the growth of nature is so powerful in this world, we hunt them so that the wild is kept in check before they inadvertently destroy the ecosystem.
We generally don’t like killing animals in games but if it’s for the greater good then that helps make it easier (even though we heard this game is super tough) 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Also, the body of a hunted monster is brought back to base and dismantled. We use the meat for food and other parts for weapon, armor, and so on. So the process is as natural as it get, as nature intended. Some people may be put off by the use of massive weapons, explosives, and harpoons as cruel, but that kinda the only way we even hurt them.
i´m so excited to see this since you already react to the trailers!!, watching you guys from Chile
🇨🇱 🤗🥰🥳
Monster hunter has always been one of my favorite video games I first started monster hunter with MH freedom 2 which came out in 2007 the games have always been so fun for me because of the amount of skill and strategy that you need to use in order to win and not to mention playing with 3 other friends really improves the experience especially on the harder quests in the game I will never forget hunting the hardest monsters in the game with some of my best friends good times
☺️😊
Fun fact: the rathalos is the series mascot other than the felynes, which are the cats that accompany the hunters
😎👍😀
Nice reaction!! It sucks that the one you guys watched was missing some monster intros like: Deviljho, Kulve Taroth, Lunastra and the crossover monsters such as Behemoth, Leshen & Ancient Leshen.
Those are the dlc monsters? 🤔 Just means we got more to watch 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames they are part of Monster Hunter World and my absolute favorite both as an intro and as a fight is undoubtedly the Behemoth 👍🏻
I swear that handler has no survival instincts. She's on the verge of being a meal every other cut scene.
Haha, have heard she can get kind of annoying and some have wished the monsters would just finally eat her 😂
I have been waiting for this one and I enjoyed every second can’t wait to see more reactions for monster hunter. There are size comparisons for monster hunter world.
Glad you enjoyed the reaction! We will be doing more MH in the future 🥳🥳
"That's a big lizard." You ain't seen nothing yet.
I hope you guys watch the ice borne monster intros cause it's soo much better...I know you'll enjoy it cause there are more monster vs monster in ice borne
Looking forward to seeing those 😀
Fun Fact: Despite what their size and shape might suggests, the Barroth only eats termites and the Diablos is a vegetarian, but both are extremely grumpy, so they will attack anything on sight.
Fun Fact 2: Monster Hunter differentiates between two primary monster classifications (as well as a bunch of sub classifications). Regular monsters that can be captured for study, and Elder Dragons which cannot be captured and are ecological disasters ready to happen. The last few monster introductions you saw here were Elder Dragons. The Godzilla size monster was also an Elder Dragon. Essentially, if it has 6 limbs, four legs and two wings, then it's an Elder Dragon. However, there are non-dragons that are powerful enough to classify as Elder Dragons like the Kirin, a unicorn type monster, and the Rajang, a Gorilla type monster that hunt down Kirin for their horns.
Can't wait for the rest of the monster intros, as well as the monster intros from the Iceborne expansion.
Rajang isn't an Elder Dragon, it's a Fanged Beast that's just really powerful. It's one of the few Elder Dragon-level monsters (like Deviljho and Bazelgeuse).
@@theinspiredgamer1949 Notice how I said it wasn't an Elder Dragon, but still classified as one due to its power.
So then do hunters just leave vegetarians alone? Or are they eating so much of the vegetation that they are wrecking the eco system? 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Well in the case of Diablos it is extremely territorial.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames The game gives you four different in-universe reasons why you hunt.
1. Conservation of the ecosystem
2. Dealing with troublemakers to the community
3. Study (capture and release with some exceptions)
4. Food...I think
In almost every case capture and release is the more efficient way. It's faster than going for the kill, and you get all the same rewards as if you had killed the monster, and some rewards can only be acquired via capture. Only exception are monsters under the Elder Dragon category which are impossible to capture.
But there's really only one reason players hunt. Cause it's fun and cause you turn the monster's body parts into weapons and armor that will help you hunt even bigger and stronger monsters. Yes, you still get body parts even if you capture and release. Video game logic.
My first introduction to the franchise was through Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, I have since gone through the games in chronological order. It's been a blast.
😎🤟😀
The world is filled with Monsters
Another fun watch! Lol I named my leopard gecko after a monster from this series.😂 you two definitely should watch the rest of the intros and the turf wars.🤯
Plan to do both. Turf wars sound fun and could be a different kind of fight night Friday 😛
fun fact: the guy who says "I'm getting too old for this" was the main character of monster hunter freedom unite
26:02 one of my favorite monsters but sometimes a pain in the ass to hunt 😂
😎👍😍
Man, thought those were intense, just wait till you see the dlc monster intros. (Plus a couple other add-on monsters from both base game and dlc) Y'all would love those intro.
Great video, keep it up.👍
Looking forward to seeing even more intense monsters 😀🥳😁
I'm glad to here that.👍
I have two Monster Hunter related recommendations for you the first one is the monster intros from Monster Hunter Rise and the second is All Kinships attacks from the spin off series called Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin that is a little cartoony looking but the Kinships attacks look really good and some are funny.
Hadn’t heard of the kindships attacks. A new one to add to our list for MH 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames For context, the Stories spin-off games has the player be a Rider, a sub culture that came about in the world that also maintains balance in nature but are able to form bonds with monsters and ride them. With both games seeing how this culture interacts with the hunter society, the first game being the first encounter and Stories 2 showing the growth afterwards taking some time after the first. The games are turn based RPGs that play like Pokémon, but you control of two characters, your character and your monsties.
I'm so happy you guys did the Monster Hunter World Intro's honestly all monsters have a lot to them so it'd be hard to explain them all. You may remember me explaining the different types of monsters. Also something to point out Monster Hunter World is the game that put Monster Hunter on the map. What I mean is that Monster Hunter was a very niche game few people knew it and those that did loved it tremendously. Monster Hunter World was Capcom's biggest and most successful entry into the series and it got the entire world interested in the series.
Anyway I'll explain some of the monsters you guys are interested in, the Lava Griffon is Teostra it is a rarity in Elder Dragons in that it is a monster paired with another and more specifically it is the 'Male' of the two, the other monster is called Lunastra and she is the female counterpart and the two will defend each other fiercely.
The last monster is called Xeno'Jiva and like you guessed it is the baby or larval form of an Elder Dragon. If you guy's watch the intros of Iceborne you'll see what it eventually grows into. The monster with the flashing fins is called Tzi-Tzi Yaku and it's both famous and infamous for it's habit of coming across hunts and blinding both monsters and hunters with it's flash then running away afterward. The monster with the vase is called Kulu-Yaku despite the similar last name pretty sure Tzi-Tzi and Kulu are not related to each other in terms of actual species but more of genus. Anyway he might like cute but this monster is an egg thief and egg eater and will go to both herbivore and wyvern nests to steal their eggs and eat it for itself. One thing to keep in mind they are called monsters for a reason.
I've already mentioned the Monster Hunter Rise Intros, and I mentioned in past checking out the roars, and I say the roars for 2 reasons. In World especially early you have to discover footprints and hunt monsters to build up your knowledge so more often than not you can identify monsters by their roars and believe me some monsters have VERY loud roars. And second reason is to hear the sound design behind the roars because some roars are just very well done. Only other video I would recommend is checking out the armors of MH World and you can see the fascinating and wonderful armor designs. Hunters Unite and Happy Hunting!
Thanks so much for more video recs on the series and telling us a little more about the monsters we were most interested in 😀
Great reactions!
Since you liked these, it would be great if you were to continue on with the intros for the DLC Monster Hunter World Iceborne. It has a ton more variety with its creatures and the intros are just as good if not better than base MHW.
Looking forward to seeing those 😀🤩
"And a bigger monster came?"
Good sir, as the wise Liam Neeson once said, "There's always a bigger fish."
Monster hunter rise has really cool intro cut scenes too if you need more! They are all based on Japanese poetry and horror comedy poetry (like campfire stories for us) and the poems also give more clues how a Monster fights in battle. While the world intros are more cinematic and less about the fight
We plan to check out the Rise intros as well 😀🥳
This was a fun trip down memory lane ^_^ and watching your reactions to each of them made me think of how I reacted as well when I first saw these monsters (I had a similar reaction to Vaal Hazak lol)
Glad you enjoyed it 🥳🥳 We plan to check our Rise next in MH 🙂
I would love to watch you two play the games and experience the thrill of the hunt for yourselves
And get destroyed 😂 but we are working on our skills 🤗
Them: please don't kill it
Players: don't worry its fine (Standing in full armor of the monster).
😂 dark 😜
The really big one that looks like a volcano is an elder dragon
😯🤩
FINALLY I mentioned this months ago glad to see you guys getting round to it!!🥰🥰🥰
Glad we got around to it as well. These were fun and we look forward to seeing more 😀
Love monster hunter! If there's a compilation of the MH Iceborne(expansion to MH World) or Rise (Latest in the MH Series) intros somewhere that's definitely worth a look.
Alternatively, the trailers for the monster hunter games are usually very well crafted and worth taking a look at as well.
There are videos for intros to both that we will eventually check out 😀
Yall made a reference to wild and crazy kids....kids now a day don't know that show. Thank you for unlocking a memory for me rofl.
Haha, no problem 😉 Kids now a day don’t even know Night at Roxbury probably haha, so they won’t know the OGs of SNL 🥳
Monster Hunter is one of the best games ever created and it has an awesome world. Too bad its not for everyone tho, the gameplay can be hard for some people. Would be nice to see you guys reacting to some Monster Hunter Rise trailers
Yeah it seems like a game we’d react to over playing because we heard it can be a grind and quite tough 🙂
You are correct about hunters fighters monsters to make sure nature is balanced. While hunters will hunt monsters to get certain materials they need or for research their main goal is to maintain balance. The hunter's guild is the organization that gives hunters quest and researches the monsters.
We like that aspect of the game ☺️
Would love to see their reactions to the intros of MHRise since they are in the style of Japanese poems
We do plan to check those out as well eventually 🙂
yes! i’ve been waiting for ur reaction!
🥳🥳😀🤗
As a console player this was my favorite monster hunter game. Granted it's the only one we can play on Console but still. I was hoping it would be like destiny 2 and keep getting updates. Or at least bring back all the old monsters. Heck even an update to add alot more catchable endemic life(pets) would've been fine. And there are more intros from the dlc Iceborne. And some from the guiding lands (endgame thing)
We are console players as well. At least there is one MH game for our kind 🤗
what ?
all monster hunter games are fir consoles
mhw is the first to ever get a pc version
You guys are the best reaction channel I have ever seen nobody is as dedicated or engulfed and fascinated to watch new and amazing things you guys really are the best and I mean it fully your so enjoyable to watch.
Thanks so much for the kind words. It’s great experiencing new games and getting to learn more about them from the community 😀🥳🤗
I know I said this in another video but I'll say it again since this is a Monster Hunter video.
You should react to Monster Hunter Rise - All Monster Intros!
It's basically a showcase of the cool monsters from game list these ones but way better.
The intro for each monster consists of a short video showcasing each monster, with a poem describing their deal and ending on a freeze frame with the monster's title on the top left and their name on the bottom right.
It's a great introduction to the monsters even more then these are!
In case you decide to react to All Monster intros in Rise, here's the best quality video for it!
th-cam.com/video/a-6xBdig0a0/w-d-xo.html
Appreciate you sharing the link! We remember this suggestion from another vid 😁🥳
fun fact. barroth (headbutting train face) is an insectavor (hence it headbutting that rock pillar, its a termite mound)
and the diablos is a herbivore >>
Ah okay. Hadn’t really heard of monster only eating insects before 😀
watch max0r monster hunter world pls :]
Will add it to our request list 🙂
Ah, good old Nergigante. You look at that thing before the fight and all you can think is, "there is no way something that big with that many spikes ALL OVER ITS BODY could possibly move that fas-"
...and then you're dead.
😂
"Aww it's just a baby why do you need to kill it?"
(The hunter) "THAT IS GOING TO BECOM 2X BIGGER AND COUS ME 1 1/2 TO KILL WHILE REAKING HAVOC THE ENTIRE TIME"
one of the great things about Monster Hunter, is how it takes the monster you thought was big and bad and struggled to beat.........and then introduces a much BIGGER monster that hunts it like its no big deal. And suddenly you realize you aren't even in the big leagues, yet. xD
That Val Hazaak reaction is everyone when they see it for the first time
That last dude (Xeno'jiiva is its name) basically eats pure energy, and its stated later that it is just a baby, later on is show its mature form, the Red Dragon Safi'jiiva.
there's all the monster intros for this games DLC Iceborne which added in a bunch more monsters to the game
We will have plenty more to see then 😀🥳
Wow what timing!! I actually started my 2nd play through of this game last week it’s an amazing game love it!
Nice! 🥳🥳 Timing is everything 🤗
Yessss! Happy to see you guys react to monster hunter! You gotta both all the kinship skills from monster hunter stories 2(flashy final attacks) and see all the intros to Monster Hunter Rise. It's like the ones in this video but they have creative haikus with them that really tell you about the monsters.
We plan to check out more intros from Icebourne and Rise 🙂
Monster Hunter is one of my all time favorite franchises. After 20 years it's still a guilty pleasure.
😎🤟 had no idea the game had been around that long 😀
