Thanks! I liked this video a lot. Good way to demonstrate how to make do with what you have. Also good way to show the versatility of the poncho as everyone talks about. The set up is also good as windshield.
    A fan of your channel.
    Best wishes ❤

Poncho can become hammock chair, gear sling and even underquilt for hammock:)

The poncho is okay for very light rain but a 9 X !0, common poly-tarp will keep you much dryer and warmer. I like to run a tight ridge line and than pull the tarp's ends tight with two prusick knots placed on the ridge line. They work great for keeping the tarp in place. Cheers.

Very good stuff Armor Vestrus! In different circumstances I like running a ridge line as well. This set up is really just a field expedient method, a larger poncho or fly would have been more preferred. Good thing is, there are so many ways to skin a cat!

Military ponchos are great. I keep mine inside of my alice pack frame. held in place with bungee cords. the poncho has pre cut 550 cord folded up Inside it. with the cord and bungee cords, I can pop up all kinds of shelter fast. And it gives me back support.

A bowline is the knot of choice for that application and your taughtline hitch is backwards. Otherwise that is how I was doing it in the 70s.

This maybe OK in a pinch but there's a reason nobody does it. You will get wet in any serious rain. Good for unexpected showers or if you forgot your tarp though. I have used this setup as an experiment and even the slightest bit of wind soaks the end and the hammock will wick all that water right down to you.

Tie a few pieces of loose 550 onto the hammock straps like the silencers in a bow string. Water runs down hits the 550 and drips off before it gets to the hammock.

The hammock would be better with a ridge line so it's not as long
I do this setup but with a ridge line and you get a lot more coverage, it's loose but when you sit in it, it pulls the hammock ridge line tight
    Not a tarp ridge line

You can avoid most of these knots by using jungle loops
