    It’s such a small thing, but it really bothers me that Ginny “my family will feed you” Weasley grows up to be the crazy sugar free mom while Hermione “my parents and I sent my starving best friend sugar free snacks” Granger gets to be the cool mom. No way, nope, that makes no sense.

      I agree 100%. The other thing I noticed and hated right off the bat was Rose’s attitude about picking compartments/friends on the train because everyone would want to be friends with them. Yes, I could see Hermione’s child worrying about making her lifelong friends like her parents did, but Hermione was so kind, and she knew what it was like to be rejected by her peers. I can’t believe that her kid would have been such an asshole. The first 10 pages of this screenplay turned me off so much I thought I was being punked.

    There's also the real problem with Time Turners: They're not supposed to be nearly as powerful as this story makes them. You can only go back a few hours. That mistake alone should keep it from being canon

    • @cecilie...
      @cecilie... 4 ปีที่แล้ว +207

      Right?! Also the time turner's not even supposed to open up the possibility of parallel universes! The main rule is: everything that happened already happens again, nothing can be changed! Omg! They can't even get the type of time travel right! (sorry, haha, rant over)

    • @mollyoirsghois

    • @Grachiification
      @Grachiification 4 ปีที่แล้ว +73

      Exactly! I kept on thinking about how they had to turn it 3 times just to go back 3 hours, how many times would they have had to do that to go back years🙄😷

    • @PeterTheMightyPygmyPuff
      @PeterTheMightyPygmyPuff 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I mean they do mention in the play that these time turners are more advanced than the ones from POA. It's plausible that new spells could have been invented in the 20+ years since then to make even more powerful time turners. Technology changes over time. Why can't magic?

    • @radicaldreamer927
      @radicaldreamer927 4 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      Well, I mean, one *could* go back longer... but according to Rowling’s *own goddam words on the subject* (which makes her greenlighting this utter shitstain even worse as she knowingly broke the rules of her own universe) every single person that ever attempted it *did not survive the ordeal,* and not only that, their actions had such a profound (albeit temporary) impact on the flow of time that Tuesday would last for, say, 65 hours, and Wednesday would only last for 3 hours. None of these consequences were present in the play. So yeah, one *could* do it, just like I suppose one *could* use a plugged in toaster as a bath toy if they really wanted to, but...
      ALSO jesus christ this is why I had such a huuuuge problem with everybody, including those that are supposed to be the most intelligent people in the wizarding world, buying into the rumor that some innocent kid could possibly be the son of somebody who DIED EIGHT YEARS BEFORE HE WAS BORN YEAH THAT’S PLAUSIBLE SO LET’S SHUN HIM ryfhgriisksnnfnhdjhvudiossododkgm... of course, that happened early enough in the book that I was still naively under the impression that there’d be some continuity in terms of how magic, specifically time travel, works. But nope. EVEN THEN Hermione, at the *very least,* who, in the Deathly Hallows epilogue admonished Ron (gently, of course, I’m sure she knew he was joking) about turning Rose against Scorpius before they even started school, would not have believed such a slanderous rumor about him. But NOPE she’s all like (oh god it hurts) “Did you *_hear_* the rumors about his parentage, I mean sure they’re just *_rumors,_* but just in case it were true, would you really want your child to be *_friends_* with *_HIM?!_*” Just... god fucking damn, this play is awful.

      My thoughts exactly. I've read many fanfictions that are on par with the source material, but this travesty ain't one of them. I'm not saying the writers are bad, but they are sure as hell not well-versed in the world of Harry Potter. They twisted all the original characters into unrecognizable messes. I particularly hated what they did to Harry, they made the humble, lovable hero of the series into a child-abusing monster.

      Yes, they did such a disservice to Harry in this "story." The Cursed Child did to Harry what The Last Jedi did to Luke. Basically a character assassination. Taking a character who represented something and turning them into the opposite of everything they stood for. And not in a way that is deep. More like in a "that makes no sense, this character would never say or do that" kind of way.

    • @UltimateKyuubiFox

      Janhavi Luke Skywalker at least had his entire emotional journey in Return of the Jedi be about his struggle to resist the Dark Side and only overcoming it after failing. Luke was morally complex like that, a man trying to figure himself out. Harry, on the other hand, always struck me as the kind of person who would be overly trusting and too willing to let his children get involved in things, like Sirius did for him with the war, where he looks at his children how he saw himself at their age, as their own full people who can ALSO make their own decisions. He might not know well how to handle his kids realistically given his upbringing, but he strikes me as someone who’d constantly be trying to overcompensate and relate to them and give them more freedom than would be safe. As opposed to sniping at them and not understanding their internal lives, he strikes me as a traumatized parent who would understand them almost as an equal instead of an authority. Meanwhile Ginny would have to rein them in because she grew up in a household where that was commonplace and somewhat effective.

    • @karsten69

      I can see Harry being a terrible father, but not for any of the reasons listed in the book. I can see him overcompensating for his own abusive childhood, by spoiling his children rotten, turning them into Dudleys if Ginny wasn't there to help raise them too.

Bellatrix even says in HBP that if she had a son she would gladly give him to Voldemort when talking to Narcissa. Maybe Voldemort gave her his child as some sort of twisted absolute loyalty card. I’m glad this “book” exists. I remember camping out at a bookstore the night of its release. The entire series had already come out by the time I started reading it, so I never had the chance to actively engage in the community before then. It even inspired a yearly festival in a nearby town, so I’m grateful for that. But my little 13 year old self tried so hard to justify that the book wasn’t trash. I still ended up resenting it, and that was the first time I felt heartbreak.

    Murphy, I agree with almost everything you said. A couple more stray thoughts:
    - I HATE that the Potters are anti-sugar. Everyone in the wizarding world is immensely pro-sugar. Chocolate is a friction' medicine!
    - I don't like the Hermione becomes Minister of Magic- or at least that she's just a very basic minister of magic. I feel like she would only be minister if there was a significant change in politics, like the wizarding world gave equal rights to everyone of muggle descent or there was a bill passed on the rights of house elves.
    -They just casually lump all werewolves, giants and beasts as "bad". Harry even says "the werewolves have gone completely underground". That is TERRIBLE. You would think that a group of kids who all called Remus Lupin their favorite teacher and loved Hagrid would be leaders an a world where the treatment of magical creatures were different
    Only thing I disagree on: I LOVE closed-loop time travel. It is the only time-travel that makes sense to me. I could also talk about time travel for, maybe two hours. It's fascinating.

    Bellatrix might have used the spell Infante Concelious to carry her child within her womb but without looking pregnant. There's also the spell Fetius Surrogatus that allows another woman to carry her child instead. Alternatively, after leaving Malfoy manor she conceived the child and used the spell Labourious Instantanium to instantly foster the child within minutes as if it had been nine months. Voldemort could have split the baby across seven different women (he's kind of obsessed with doing that) so she would only look like she was 1/7 of 9 months pregnant.Or she obviously used a time turner and there was a second pregnant Bellatrix that was in hiding the whole time.

      it had a satisfying ending? i am not going to be popular with these opinions.. but i think after book4 the series deteriorated with the culmination in the last book.. the ending just sucked and pls spare me the crappylogue. half the pairings dont make sense in any way shape or form. i could name way more things that bug me over the series as a whole but thats just my 2cents

      @@Brainreaver79 I dont even mind the epilogue but the actual ending of deathly hallows was straight trash. We didn't even get a proper fucking duel.

      Hannah McDermott Ironically, Ron’s worst fear is what happen to him (and Rupert Grint) in real life, being overshadowed by his surrounding characters (and actors)

      Ron would NEVER, EVER give a CHILD a love potion!! To say that he had a rough experience with one is a euphemism so not in a million years he would do such a stupid irresponsible thing.
      Honestly every character seems to be have written by someone who has never read a HP book or even seen a movie. Embarrassing.

      Well she never quite liked Ron for that matter, it is quite clear from the fact he has basically not part in the plot from book 3 to book 6 (I mean, he interact with the other characters but is completely passive in moving the plot forward, and serves mostly as a contrastnig figure to the greatness of Hermione and Harry).

      Clément Denis Then why wrote Ron as “Harry’s best friend” if she has no idea how to handle him. It is possible to write a best friend side character that is not as skillful as the hero interesting. Look at Samwell Tarly. He’s not as handsome or cool or good at fighting or being a “chosen one” like his best friend Jon Snow. He even called himself as a coward but he’s the one who discover the mean to kill white walker so GRRM utilized him as a character who gather essential information to help Jon wins in the long night, also become an unintentionally crucial player to Daenerys storyline.
