Yup. And many of us told him the weapon art as a wakeup is awesome. As is using it in tight spaces.
This is literally the only weapon that made me respec for an int/dex build. That R2 is anime levels of nuttery
Yeah same here but realized that the Moonlight Greatsword was a nice weapon to mix in as well
A sword that shoots beams when you swing it is the coolest thing in fantasy.

Edit: Sometimes I’m just bad at reading y’all. Thought OP was saying this was the only weapon they could “respect” on an int/dex build.

Hell yeah, i havent seen chase parry since ds3! Would love that as well.
One of my favorite weapons, and you can put the parry ash of war on alot, get creative!
Why not dual Misericorde with parry on one, kill two birds with one parry!
Off hand parrying dagger would be cool even though it has a weird parrying window.

Wing of Astel is one of my favorite weapons for PvE. That R2 projectile just creates so many openings in the infinite combos of Elden Ring bosses and that ash was just melting all the huge immobile ones like Elden Beast and Placi. This is just such a satisfying weapon to use
I`m a cook and I work everyday crazy hours standing on my feet, but getting home, sitting down and watching Chase`s showcase is a big factor on keeping me sane. Thanks so much

The beastman curved sword has a unique jumping attack. Not something we see in a lot of weapons. Could be cool for a showcase
Yeah it hits twice during its jumping attack, and that's not even with power stance.
Just an FYI, if you press your roll while charging your heavy you can cancel out of your heavy with a unique backstep animation. My first playthrough I focused Int and ended up using this weapon alot. Really enjoyed it

Thrusting swords do a damaging back step with a different animation.
Thrusting, heavy thrusting and curved swords all do this!
I know you’re probably rotating through many weapons for the showcase series but I’ve gotta say I would love to see more of this. The damage of the dual wield combo and the area control of the skill and heavy attack projectile makes these duels way more aggressive and interactive. Especially when so much of elden ring pvp is waiting for punishes or just staying out of range.
Chase is many things; excellent at PVP, kindhearted and gracious, a great editor. But I feel his thumbnail game needs more love. They are always fun and often dynamic. I love them!

I'd love to see some love for the hammers with a Morningstar video! It strangely enough has a few stab attacks unique to it & the Scepter of the All-knowing
This is probably my favorite weapon in any fromsoft game, love the visual design and the fun effects it has, excellent showcase as always!
This one looked really fun to play - let's you be all around way more active and pressuring at all times. Way more control of the flow of combat. Surprising what such a seemingly small thing can do

Really glad you showcased this! Wing of Astel's my favourite weapon in the game. It's a shame the Nebula didn't hit often. In my experience, it works wonderfully if you make your opponent impatient from all the R2's and bait out a running or jumping attack. Anyone who underestimates the weapon art will easily lose 70-80% health if they get hit by more than one part of it. It's almost always a good trade (even against many heavy jump attacks) which is impressive for a curved sword.

Watching Chase figure out a weapon in the middle of a single fight is always pretty badass. Seeing him just adapt to the R2 as ranged rollcatch and AOW punish, then deploy it to completely shut down the opponent, was great.
The wing of astel also has a pretty cool feint attack which comes out decently quick, shame you didn’t get to showcase it though
What do you mean by feint attack?
@@skypie427 backstep while charging a heavy. Can combo into a light attack or dual attack.

Been using this weapon for a while now. The ash of war shreds giant bosses and enemies, also useful in tunnels
I agree 100% and it's great against enemies with Greatshields as well. I was shocked at how fast I wrecked Elden Beast with this weapon.

What I really liked about curved swords is charging a heavy attack and pressing dodge. It does a special evade/attack animation seen in previous titles, but you can follow up with a light attack that comes out as a running attack. I managed to get some kills with that as bait and it is sexy af! Love your vids all day long baby

HE FINALLY USED IT. im so glad you're finally rocking this thing. such a lovely sword, great for invasions, its heavy is a powerful infinite ranged attack for pvp and pve.... one of the 4 must haves on a sorce build.
i tend to use nebula and unleash heavy combos from the 'smoke'

The magic slash really catches people off guard as a follow-up attack, more so do with them not knowing it's a medium ranged projectile. Having WoA paired with a Magma Blade was a fun and powerful discovery I found
just curious, how do you use the magma blade with WoA in pvp? cant really put WoA in the off hand slot because the charge R2 is so good at roll catching, but on the other hand, Magma Blade's AoW is so good for point blank range, it breaks poise and has fast start up time.
Do you put Magma blade in the off hand and just 2 hand it when youre anticipating point blank attacks? because if thats the case then i can see it working, though if you 2 hand magma blade the opponent will figure out that youre letting them get close to you for the Magma Shower AoW.
@Zerozone I haven't played Elden Ring in a hot minute,but from memory you'll want the Magma Blade in the off hand, reason for this is because you want to be able to use the magic Slash for roll catching.
Bare in mind you most definitely want them both upgraded or at least relatively equal in level to each other for best damage.

I absolutely adore the Wing of Astel. It's one of the few weapons in the game that's amazing in pvp AND pve. The moveset is not only very effective, but loads of fun. That R2 and the skill are both A1; the sheer mind games!
Hitting the skill in pvp can be challenging, but it's very satisfying when you do land a good bit of it.
Love this series! How about a showcase of something pretty rare like the Celebrant's Rib-Rake or Halo Scythe?
small fyi for dual curved swords specifically, the twinblade talisman actually boosts the 4th hit in the 4 hit flurry of the running l2 and the jumping l2! twinblade talisman + claw talisman makes that jump attack into cheese levels of nutty if you can hit the whole thing or even just the last half

Would love to see you try the Black Bow! It would be a challenge for sure though. I’ve been playing a bow build and am loving it. People surprisingly cant seem to figure out how to handle it in duels they get too aggressive and get punished :)

this was my main weapon for high level mage build! the light into heavy into spell was a solid combo at least for me. i remember getting alot of roll catches with the heavy
Some dagger showcases would be great! Wing of Astel are really powerful with a good player.
I have a int/dex build and this weapon is my go to back up, the R2 gives you great safe distance between opponent. Duel welding is just different gravy
probably one of my fav among the showcases, really fun weapon

I had a cool build using a wing of astel main hand. Cold infused bandits curved sword with cold mist buff in left hand. And second weapon on main right hand was a dagger with lightingbolt for pick offs. Never figured out what was best damage for the charged heavy beam but I ran this with minimum int and rest in dex
Seeing the invading at the end of the showcase has me hyped for you next invading stream

I used this weapon in my first playthrough to beat the game! This is one of my favorites :)
Ooooo I’ve been waiting on this one.
You can cancel the heavy attack at anytime just like the thrusting swords.
Especially useful with the unique heavy of this curved sword.
You will do a quick slash and hop back a little which can be followed by the backstep attack.
That makes the R2 even more awesome and the weapon very flexible and exceptional for mixups

I legit started thinking about this weapon today and its been on my mind all day at work and all the sudden you come out with this. I just really want 2 of them. Also try the sword of Milos, you'll be very surprised

I usually have a magic infused bandit curved sword in the offhand instead of the duplicate. it does more overall damage and you can put a buff on it like RKR and still have access to the sick R2 in the main hand

you can also dodge while your doing a heavy attack and it’ll do a backflip dodge while still getting a hit off. good way to switch things up

I'd like to see the Ghiza's Wheel sometime. I think I'd be really interesting to see how Chase uses it in duels.
I'd say this is my 5th favorite weapon. It does have awesome utility, good damage, and is fast. Though I still haven't done a str/faith build yet so there are a done of weapons I have even been able to really try.
That last fight was like good vs evil. Blue and red everywhere...reminded me of Azula vs Zuko. Also, congrats on hitting the ash of war for 1 damage😉
This is one of the best weapons for my mage build. At first I relied on a talisman that lowered FP cost and one that Restored FP on kills. Oh and the Ritual Axe. But now I use Wing of Astel in my main hand because its easier to just use melee and the heavy attack to save FP for sorcery on stronger enemies.
I also keep the Royal Greatsword on hand just in case I get invaded and equip that instead since it's ash of war is great for catching players off guard.

Also, I told you it is an amazing wakeup weapon art. I use to use this weapon a lot. Especially early in Elden Ring before people knew about it.
