Done 16k miles on my Tiger 900 in my first year including a European tour. Asbolutely love the machine. If you are a year round rider and commute go for the 900 for the heated seat and grips, cruise control etc. I do a lot of filtering in and out of London, it does a good job except I wish you could fold the mirrors away as they are the same hight as vans and SUV's. Bike does everything really well, 230 miles out of a tank of petrol, corners, goes and brakes great. Also very confortable. Triumph servicing costs are a rip off. Had to get the shocks replaced due to corrotion and steering bearing but both were done under waranty. As I do so many miles I extended the waranty for another two years for £400. The rider modes, rain, road and sport really do make a difference and I use them all. When you start on the bike you short shift a lot because the bike has a lot of torque, but you as you gain more confidence you learn to appricaite the upper limits of the rev range. Stock exhaust is great and makes a terrific sound when pushing on. The bike gets a little viby around 6k rpm (85 mph) but honstly it's not bad and don't let that put you off. Other than the waranty issues mentioned the bike has been very reliable giving me no issues. I recomend you replace the stock tires with Road 6 for more confidence on the road. Should I have bought a Tiger 900 as my first bike, probably not but it worked out for me and it's a bike I was able to grow into without having to change it so quickly after passing. I plan to do at least another 30k miles on this bike before looking to change it.
Wise words Mr TAYM, it really boils down to just getting out on two wheels. People that haven’t ridden Adventure bikes because of the way they look are missing out on very capable every day motorcycles. I think the 850 looks great too, except for the can, that’s easily swapped though. I bought a center stand for the T-7. With tubbed wheels it just seems a no-brainer to add the weight for roadside or trail side maintenance. I’ve given in to what you’ve been saying. 👍 Plus, like the saying goes, I’m no Pol Tarres. 😂
Nice Bike, though the £800 valve clearance checks at 12000 miles has always put me of the Tigers. I do almost that every year. So with High insurance costs its well over £100 a month just to own one. Happy New year! to the whole TAYM team! Keep up the great work. Love from "Wokey McWokeface" I'm just off now on my EV(egan) Unicycle, lovingly called "They," for some hot yoga and tofu.😉
Yes, Triumph have made servicing a very costly experience. My Triumph servicing costs make my BMW servicing look cheap in comparison and the xtra mileage (10000 v 6000) makes no difference as I share my 10-11,000 a year between 2 bikes.
Yes, servicing always seems to get you😕 still cheaper than servicing a royal Enfield which would need 4 services by 12000 miles at a cost between £800 -£1,400 depending on the model 🤔 thanks Berry 😁
Nice video. Nice bike for those who prefer to bimble about than chase every apex. That's not damning with faint praise; that's a bike that fits a use-case perfectly. As you've said, the 800 will be interesting.
I have the 850 as an autumn/winter bimble bike, dealer added heated grips and shift assist, I also have the MC Cruise control - preferred the Grey/Orange colour which is only available in the Sport; and didn’t need the electronic suspension, so even with the extras (grips and handguards were a freebie) it worked out considerably cheaper. 👍
Enjoyed the vlog video and I’m glad I watched it I never realized the weight was that low - I just sold my last acquisition a 2022 Interceptor which Iusted after but when I got it couldn’t get along with it - so now I’m looking for a garage queen bike that I can sit IN instead of sitting on another Vstrom was my goal but now my eyes have been opened to weight so TH-cam reviews here I come again 76 so weight means something to me now Whereas before now I’ve hade many of the biggest bikes on the road anyway thanks again and as usual regards from Florida 🦩🦩🦩🦩
The Tigers are great rides. Not incredibly charismatic, but they just work and do many things well. I wish I had footage of some of the off road pitches I cleared on my GT Pro and then went on to the paved twisties and smoked( relatively speaking for a 70 year old). I’m betting the new 800 ditches the T-Plane and will be a bit smoother, but the T-Plane chugs great for me off road and doesn’t bother me much at hi-way speeds. And finally I just have to say, my GT Pro’s additional perks are really appreciated. Heated seat and grips, cruise control, quick shift, electronically adjustable rear suspension,I love all that stuff and use it always. Phone connectivity, the last thing I need is to get a phone call while I’m riding!
I've owned an 850 Sport for about a year now. Rides great, handles UK road surfaces really well, low c of g and easy to manhandle, great power delivery, very easy to commute on with loads of presence, and more than enough juice to press on when you fancy it. It's a very confidence inspiring bike, and one of those that looks after you when you've been out for a long ride, you're tired, and you just want to get home. There are faster, sportier, more capable and more tech-laden bikes out there if that's your bag, but for someone who's looking for a great all round, all year bike that won't complain whatever you put it through, it's a corker. The new 800 may steal sales or drop the used price of the 850 Sport, but I don;t really care. It does what I ask of it, and is more accomplished than I am.....
Point about the forthcoming TS 800, its torque is a lot higher in the rev band, so won't be as tractable as the 900s . I love the fact I can ride at 15 mph in third with no protest from the engine 😊 The smart move is buy a nearly new second hand 900, 😊 As for the Chinese bikes, you're loose more on deprecation than your save on the purchase price difference.
perfect replacement for my f750gs that was heavy, top heavy, and not enuf power. Priced right vs. others who don't' want to pay $6k more from the tiger 900gt pro
Surely Triumph will have to drop this bike, the Tiger Sport line is becoming very confusing, also the 660 and 800 are more sporty styled. I knew you'd be extraordinarily excited about the new 800, I'm sure comparisons will be made with your own Suzuki as well as the 850 TS. I'm affraid though that Triumph are pricing themselves out of the Market, Chinese competition is one thing but now Honda is offering bikes at a steal in comparison. I bet your also Super excited to try the new Hornet, which just may outsell all the competition next year and beyond.
It's just a cheaper lower spec 900. All they have to do is put cheaper parts on the 900 and change the paint job. It sells enough, but probably not enough, so they made the 800 likely to replace it
Nice bike TAYM maybe Triumph are taking a leaf out of Royal Enfields book and have a few very similar models all be it lighter models😉 ,the new 800 is at a very good price it seems and I can't see how it will be much different in power the the 850/900 but we will see I guess I do like the new one from what I have seen . 👍
800 is more of a sport triple. Revs higher, higher compression, higher torque, higher horses. It's a sport bike with sport everything. The 850 is an adv
Need a small cal. Submachine mounted to the front for your people pulling out lol forgive me I loved twisted metal the video game. Totally ugly machine Taym but triumph and their platforms are absolutely amazing 😊❤🎉.
Nice bike but isn't Triumph's problem the fact that the Chinese are making similar bikes but way cheaper. Triumph, Ducati, BMW are going high end at a time when most are going the opposite way. When Honda can do a really good 1000 at less than 9 grand you wonder about these high end manufacturers.
Reasons for multiple irrational speed limits...revenue collection and control it started with the covid lockdowns..insist in paying in cash that's next...conspiracy i know haha. Nice bike that thanks TAYM.
happy new year ;; i can hear the buffeting from here , useless screen again , but it doesn't matter as you can only do 40 or 50 mph anyway , ;; so throw that away ,, and cut of 2 cylinders you can't use , and you end up with a 400 triumph single ,, == oh dear ,,, ha ha ;;;
12k for a bike that the chinese are replicating the genres for thousands less. Love the engine but the servicing costs unless you do yourself which voids warranty is madness. I am wondering whether they are signing their own death warrants by ignoring pricing trends. Service coast and in particular Valve checks get more and more a talking point now such is the cost of such a service or even a check tbh. Suppose it depends on your mileage. Beautiful spot.
G’day TAYM, another ridge didge video from you. My choice, if I choose to accept this mission, would be to choose the beautiful Triumph parked in front of this one when leaving Suffolk Triumph 🫣🙄🤣🤣🤣. Stay warm over there, Hooroo for now 👍
Hey mate, My two other Cobbers over your way, Namely Two Wheeled Willie & Saddlebags 73 keep telling me to start a Utube whatsit thingy of my own, however I don’t believe I would be able to come up enough interesting stuff in my boring old existence. Perhaps you have found the solution to this dilemma 🤷🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣. Can’t wait to see what your next mutter brings 😁… Although that is situation normal for me 😃. Take care , stay warm, Hooroo for now👍🏍😎
@TAYM Power figures a measured from the Crank by all manufacturers. If you to mods & get a Dyno then Power is measured from the wheels. On a bike you only loose about 3-4hp to the rear wheels.

Yes, loved my rally pro too 😁 fantastic appraisal 😁 thanks for taking the time 😁

Like wise 🤔 at least similar🤔 thanks Tim 😁
I'm sure Royal Enfield have just announced service's are now extended to 6,000mls ....@@TAYM
I don't think I will be buying one, good looking bike, but not for me.. good video, Taym. Happy New Year,to you.
Thanks Dave 😁
Nice video. Nice bike for those who prefer to bimble about than chase every apex. That's not damning with faint praise; that's a bike that fits a use-case perfectly.

Exactly 😁 thanks Brendon 😁

Thanks S 😁 yes, and buying when times are hard, you can always get a good deal and freebies thrown in 😁
I sure love my 850 Sport as you are aware!!😂😂😂 thanks!!
Of course 😁 thanks TBG 😁
Enjoyed the vlog video and I’m glad I watched it

Thanks John 😁 some of it is about weight distribution as well I guess🤔
It has brembo front and back and looks like it has a brembo master cylinder. Nice bike👍
Thanks Glyn 😁

Absolutely, loved my rally pro 😁 a real mile muncher😁 I was really surprised how much I did use all the extras on it 😁 thanks Bob 😁
I wish that Triumph had fitted a shaft drive rather than a chain to this.

Excellent point and very true on the Chinese 😁 thanks S 😁
perfect replacement for my f750gs that was heavy, top heavy, and not enuf power. Priced right vs. others who don't' want to pay $6k more from the tiger 900gt pro
Exactly 😁 thanks Ed😁
Trouble is the new tiger 800 will outsell it , and the 850 sport will depreciate like a stone 😊👍👍
Thanks Tony 😁 yes, it happens every time they update or replace a model , most annoying 😕
Nice... I prefer tech free bikes personally and 85 ponies is the sweet spot for me 👌👍✌️
Mrs TAYM says the same but I’ve told her 7 horses is more than enough to look after 😁😂😂 thanks Chunkeh 😁
😂😂😂
Tiger 850 is A2 compliant (when restricted) and new 800 can’t be restricted for A2. Will that be enough to keep them both around?
Interesting 🤔 it might just survive then 😁 thanks Nick😁

I have spoken to them about this very point and they do seem set on ploughing their own furrow🤔 it will be interesting to see 😁 thanks GW 😁
A good mutter i must say i think the way things are going 40 bhp is enough in this day and age
I think you may be right 😁 thanks Frank 😁
Triumph wind me up with so many bikes nearly the same model and size 🤷♂️
Yes, and that's a method that's not gone so well for KTM.
It's just a cheaper lower spec 900. All they have to do is put cheaper parts on the 900 and change the paint job. It sells enough, but probably not enough, so they made the 800 likely to replace it

Very true 😁

I tend to agree😁
I could go for an 850 that weighs less than a Royal Anvil 👍👍.
😂😂 thanks GBD 😁
Damning with feint praise?
I Guess it depends how you look at it🤔😁 thanks Loki 😁
Need a small cal. Submachine mounted to the front for your people pulling out lol forgive me I loved twisted metal the video game. Totally ugly machine Taym but triumph and their platforms are absolutely amazing 😊❤🎉.
They could put an HUD aiming system in the wind screen like a holo sight.
😂😂😂😂 thanks Jay 😁

That brake reservoir for front brake looks a cheap piece of junk, is that the best they could find? Looks like piss sample pot.
I hate them 😕 why? I just don’t get it, something so simple to rectify 😕 I guess it’s because we still buy the bikes🤔 thanks Mike 😁
happy new year ;; i can hear the buffeting from here , useless screen again , but it doesn't matter as you can only do 40 or 50 mph anyway , ;; so throw that away ,, and cut of 2 cylinders you can't use , and you end up with a 400 triumph single ,, == oh dear ,,, ha ha ;;;

Yes, the Chinese are violating every trade and IP law and using slave labor to rip everything off. JFC you people
Dead right Volt😁 with servicing costs on EVs being almost nothing as well, they don’t seem to be helping themselves.
2nd😜👍🏻
Good work HN 😁😂😂
