- In this series of clips from March 14, 2013, watch TTC Orion V buses on routes 39, 139 and 199 on Finch Avenue just east of Don Mills Road. From 1996, the 7000 series Orion Vs spent much of their lives at Malvern Garage and in turn on Finch Avenue. At the time of recording, some of the buses had only months of service left, with the entirety of the 135 bus fleet out of service by mid 2015. There are a few bonus shots included of VIVA Van Hool A330 buses and TTC Orion VII and Orion VII NG buses, but the Finch Avenue service was largely provided by Orion V buses. Recorded in HD on a Sony HDR-SR12. Subscribe @orionviii for more videos like this one. #ttc #toronto #orionbusindustries #finch
Now this brings back memories growing up using the 39 and 25 (and still using it now with our Nova buses) all the time living just down the street from Don Mills and Finch. Especially in the winter with the 39 buses getting stuck on the hill.
I was no stranger to this. In making this video I found I couldn't climb the hill on the completely ice covered sidewalk, so I had to slide down the ice and ride the bus up the hill.
@@orionviii I live literally at Brahms facing west so in the winter I get entertainment all the time.
Reminds me of any Buses with 6V71N Engine were the worst going up the Hills
I miss those buses...
Me too!
Good video! Seeing VIVA 5159 is also nostalgic since it's now a YRT conventional unit based at Southwest Division.
I hadn't researched the fleet to see that myself but that's a good piece of trivia, so a maximum of 2 buses in this video are still in service. Can anyone see if that Van Hool is the only one or if the Orion VII NG is still running almost 10 years later?
I really love this bus
I agree, these were really comfortable buses to ride and they served TTC passengers well throughout their lives.
Nice you managed to film a 139E which has long been extinct
It's always good to film as much as you can, because you never know what's going to be rare later on!
That is true. The 139E later became the 199C, renamed to 939C.
My town (I'm from Maine btw) still has a couple in service, but they're slowly phasing them out for a electric buses
It's wild to imagine that there were as many Orion Vs on this route as many places ever had in their fleet.
