*UPDATE ON THE 2001 FLEET* It has been a week, and now all of the 2001 Orions have been retired from service. 9228, the last one, has been retired over the weekend. RIP to the OG Orions, 2000/01 - 2023
The final blows for the 01s were: 9204 due to oil leak 9241 Transmission issues 9276 actually had no problems when they stuck it in the retirement track it was just its time 9228 was completely fine, rode it the night before its last trip
It’s funny that 9228 was the last standing 2001 Orion. It was the one that most often showed up when my father accompanied me on the 301. It got the nickname in my family “Dad’s bus”. They will be missed.
These guys on the 555 were the lifeline of my commute to school. I fondly remember being stuck on the Port Mann, in the snow, still dark out, with very little standing room left, probably emailing my professors telling them we'd be late. Thanks for your service, you big funny yellow buses.
Im very happy i got a pic of a orion when i was in Vancouver this year. Shocked to learn that they were from 2007! i thought they were much older! Love from the Netherlands
The Orions really are, way more comfortable than the new ones. The new low floor ones vibrate the windows just as much as the Orions. as well as being loud inside and super uncomfortable as there’s less seating capacity, and way less cushion. I’m shocked they didn’t make the new ones more comfortable
Ttc has a number of Orion V left in service. But they are gradually retiring. I always found it funny that Orion was built in Mississauga, yet Mississauga transit preferred to order from Newflyer.
According to the CPTDB, there will be 6 more double deckers specifically meant to replace Orions that will be ordered next year. When they are delivered, it will be the final farewell to the Orions, likely somewhere around 2026-2027.
@@carvolthproductions555 Since 9276 and 9228 are still working, they can probably be transfered or sold to another transit network. Most likely 9204 and 9241 will be scrapped but hopefully can (probably) be repaired and sold to somewhere else.
Can you do a video about the D40LF as they are being phased out as well. There are only 9 left in active service though another 3 are not retired yet, one of which is a training vehicle.
Yup the Xcelsior buses are not fun to seat in for a long time, where I live the orions are mainly used for riders going from Winnipeg to Selkirk MB. Anyone wanna know what NF buses I hated?? 2002 Invero buses, your knees will hate you if you sat in the back of the bus, who ever designed that bus should get slapped lol.
I remember on some very rare occasions the Orion V buses would surprisingly appear on the 404 when I was little... now that all 2001 counterparts are gone (except for 9228 which is still sitting in RTC, but it's not in revenue service anymore) I would sometimes ride the 601 to recall the good old times on the Orions... 🥲
The only major downfall aboot those Orion V models, is the public passenger seats. I wonder how many times those seats got pee'd on, poop'd on, cut open by a swiss army knife, jezzz the list could go on...

@@NV.Transit Very Interesting, I guess I cursed 9204 and 9241 then.
R.I.P 🕊️
Given how Orion is out of business over a decade parts are near impossible to find!

9228 is still alive and not scrapped... Its currently sitting in the Richmond Transit Centre yard being used as a parts bus.

As of today, only one of the 4 listed in the video currently are in service. 9276 was retired a bit ago which now leaves 9228 as the final unit.
This video is aging very well then....
the orions best resembled a tour coach seating arrangement than public transportation and looks way more comfortable than the regular flyers

I preferred the puffy faux leather seats to what we have now. They were a lot cleaner and more comfortable. They should bring them back.

9228 is currently in RTC being used as a parts bus.
Can't help but wonder what they do with the retired Orion's
It's likely the Orions will be scrapped, sadly. Hopefully, at least one gets preserved.

9204 and 9241 have both been retired. 2 left now.
I'm subscriber 1000! Congrats!
@@truenorthben Thanks for the support! 👍
Do a history video on the D60LFR’s as there’s 2 left at the time of commenting this
Thank You!
Sonoma county transit has Orion V number from 338 to 340 Golden Gate Transit use to have orion Vs
By the summer?! I won't be able to film Orion Vs!
The older 2000-01 Orion Vs I think will be retired by then, but the 2007 Orions will still operate as they have a few years left in them.

Beeline still has some of these Orion v Surburban buses left!
Great video and explination! What routes could I catch one of the newer 2007 models on?
The 2007 Orions can be found on the 352, 354, and 601- 609 at Bridgeport Station, White Rock and Ladner.
The fact ttc doesn't have any orion v 5 is sad

@@carvolthproductions555 thanks

The remaining 2007-08 Orions can be found in Richmond, South Surrey and Delta.
Thanks ill try searching in those places
@@Coppermancar Try searching on routes 601, 602, 603, 604. I saw one the other day on 408 though it's very rare to see them on that route.
