Funny how they want to scrap fa cup replays because it is too much on the players, but doing 15 hours of travelling every other week to america is fine because it "generates money"

I like FA Cup replays imagine being a non league side eg met police takes Manchester City to a replay it would be funny. But football games like the PL should not be played abroad unless your club eg Guernsey FC plays in the PL but is on a channel island ect.

2 of my local non league teams had decent cup runs a few years ago n it gave them enough money to completely re structure and get to step 2 and step 3 each from step 4 and step 7 its a massive benefit to them.
But the big 6 wanna scrap that so they can play in a country where their youth players would be shot while doing maths at school

I think what makes Americans love English football.... is that it is not American... It is completely different from anything we are used to over here that it is so easy to be drawn into. Playing the games here would ruin the spectacle... There is something incredibly appealing to the communal aspect these clubs provide and how intense fandom is that playing these games over here would really dull it out.... I flew over to Newcastle for West Ham and Everton matches in April and would much rather spend the $1,000-$1,200 to go to England to watch these games than to have them here. The allure of the sport dies once it takes place outside of those communities.
The only people who are striving for these games to come to the US are the white collared members in board rooms for clubs and corporate partners.
Enjoy your holiday as you prepare for the inevitable Barnsley 1-2 Mansfield

As an American, there is only one reason why owners will push for this: money. Let's put it this way. If myself and a friend wanted to see a regular season Boston Red Sox game (one of 162, by the way) it would probably cost the same as a BARNSLEY SEASON TICKET. Any fan who isnt some trust fund baby or sold both there kidneys wouldn't be able to see their team in America anyway. I am an Everton supporter and one of the greatest things about the club is the home atmosphere. 10s of thousands of local Liverpool residents who bleed for their club. As much as I love Everton, I know I can never have what they have, and I'm okay with that. I live in America, they play in England, that's the tradeoff.

Preseason is for overseas tours. West Ham came to Perth during last preseason, and it was amazing. Seeing them play my local team and Tottenham in my home town was awesome. I'm pretty sure Goldbridge's main message is that premier league games being played in America is going to be inevitable, mainly due to the tourist factor as they will pay more money to watch the experience. I emigrated a long time ago, but am from Liverpool originally and LFC are my team. Now I have that context out of the way I need to stress that I really don't think this is about the overseas fans. It's about generating profits for whatever TV Networks will be fighting over the broadcast rights. They don't care about foreign fans any more than they care about home fans. I know most people realise this, but I am also seeing a lot of hate being directed at the overseas fans themselves and I feel that's rather unfair. Those people are welcome to come to Liverpool and watch the team play at Anfield. And they know full well that seeing Liverpool play anywhere else other than Anfield just wouldn't be the same. Of course, this is the same for any team - I'm just using mine as the example because it's what I know.

Hurts me that as a Liverpool fan that doesn’t go Liverpool games, but does and has been going Nuneaton games for past 15+ years, I get put in the same category of fan as Sadiq Khan and Mark Goldbridge. Like no we are not the same fans. I know what fans mean to football and that the culture and history of a football club is their town/city and the ground they play at.

Surely a bigger appeal for the fan would be to go to the home of the team you love (in this case one of the most famous, Anfield)
I like a bit of Handegg (although recent years have been painful for my team) and would love to visit The Bank Of America Stadium to watch the Carolina Panthers play, over watching them in London.

I agree with most your points. I'd never want to see games abroad. I'm a United fan, home games must be played at Old Trafford and away games at other team's grounds. Games abroad would remove the home or away aspect, they'd both be away teams lol. But as you point out, I am not from Manchester, I'm not from England. But I still love the club just as much, I watch every game, sure a lot of respect to the home fans that go every week, it wouldn't be the same without that atmosphere.

I was literally thinking the only way having games in America could work is if domestic seasons ended at Christmas and the top 4 teams of each of the leagues around the world came for a massive league tournament from January to May. Which has it's own major problems but yknow it would grow the game if Man Utd are playing an Indian team or Real Madrid are playing a South American team.
Having one premier league game in Miami a season is a fucking joke. What is the point.

Why don't they do it like this after the 38 game season the Top 8 PL sides are invited to compete in the premier league cup of champions there's 5 matches 2 legs of quarter final, semi final and a single legged final which goes straight to pens after 90 minutes. The winner gains some prize money and a European place is on the line maybe for the champions league or the conference league.

As a foreign fan, I think the Premier League should remain in England. I did see my favourite English team play when they came to my country, to play in the Champions League, but I still think that the ultimate and best experience is to go there, to be with the local fans. This whole idea while it does give the fans an opportunity to see their favourite team is also depriving them in a way of the real experience, replacing it with a cheaper copy.

People like Khan arguing it’s to give foreign fans a chance to see them play are just liars. These friendlies in America are costing over $100 to watch the reserves and players just taking it easy. If they put a game like City Vs United in America they’d be charging $500 for the seats with a pole in front of them.
The actual fans in those countries will be priced out in favour of rich people who just want to watch a game and probably support neither team, the atmosphere will be shit and the players will have had to travel 10 hours in a plane, suffer from jet lag and minimal preparation, play on a shit tier pitch with the worst fans in the world, then after playing face another plane ride and more jet lag.
If you’re American and actually support a UK team, you should understand all of that and know that these teams playing their games in their home stadiums is vital.

    I say this as an American;
Of course a United fan who lives in Nottingham who's never been to Old Trafford would say something like this. It's not reasonable; the passion stays in Manchester or wherever the stadium and local/regional area is. Goldbridge talking about "progress" is silly. I love watching the Premier League from the States, and I'll never understand it as much as you Brits who get the chance to go to home games every week if you wanted to; but I understand as much that doing stuff like Goldbridge supports only ruins it. It's greed if people want that. I know I can never have what they have since I'm an ocean away, and I'm okay with that. I live in America, let the English teams play in England. I'm 100% alright with that.
also yes; travelling back and forth would only complicate schedules and player weariness. And plus, as you've said here in the states; 90+% of people here who follow the sport are a fan of the Big 6, or one of the European giants such as Bayern, Barca, Madrid, etc... Rarely you'd find anyone else. I'm a Leicester fan & I'm convinced I am the only Leicester fan within my HALF of my entire state. Generously at the most i'm one of a few dozen Leicester fans in an area around the same size the entire UK. You betray the entire core fanbase of every club by moving games here, and plus you'd only rack up money from a few select "big matchups." Fuck off with this idea that Goldbridge and all these executives propose for "imagine the profits".
love the channel so much btw, cheers

Agree 100% why would any match going fan be ok with their football club playing games in USA? A country that doesn’t even appreciate football and calls it soccer. Completely disregarding the people who made the club the match going fans are the ones who know and made all the chants the match going fans are the ones who created the club culture not the owners not the fa THE FANS. Where I disagree with you is about saying support your local I’m a Manchester United fan been to loads of matches from Nottingham myself I support United because my dad supported United and my mum wasn’t a football fan at all. You support who your bought up to support.
